The subscribers in presenting the following Catalogue of Paint
ings to the consideration of their fellow citizens, beg leave to state
that this will be their last exhibition in connection with the School
of Painting and Design.
Having accomplished the object for which alone an exhibition
was undertaken, they beg leave to return thanks for the liberal atlen;
tion and support bestowed upon the School of Painting, which
was attended by as many pupils as it is found convenient for the
proprietors to attend to ; and which they beg leave to inform the
public, will be continued so long as they shall receive and enjoy the
confidence and patronage so liberally bestowed.

THE SUSQUEHANNA.
From the brow of the cliff the eye ranges wide,
At its base flows the broad Susquehanna's deep tide ;
And in primeval wildnessthe rock and the wood
Are reflected below in the dark rolling flood.
Rude nature in grandeur reigns over the waste,
And the dark fealui'd savage alone can be trac'd ;
No axe can be heard, nor no bell to declare
That civiliz'd man has abiding place there.
The wild Deer and Bison roam fearless and free,
And the thickets are full of sweet melody ;
But danger is nigh in the fierce Panther's spring,
