The Urban Renewal Administration employs Community Planners in the Central Office in Washington, D.C., and in regional offices in New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Fort Worth, San Francisco, and Puerto Rico. In recruiting for COMMUNIT \ PLANNERS we look for graduates who have received a degree in city or regional planning, or candidates with related degrees . . . assumed leadership roles in campus activities . . . ranked w^ll scholastically and demonstrated personal characteristics appropriate for "meeting and dealing." ^Depending on the level and quality of their academic training and experi¬ ence, candidates may qualify at GS-5— $4,510 per annum GS-7—$5,520 per annum GS-9—$6,435 per annum With a bachelor’s degree, candidates can be employed at GS-5. They may also be employed at GS-7, provided they have: — achieved a level of high aca¬ demic standing, or — have one year of graduate study in city planning, or —have one year of city planning experience In order to qualify at th.e GS-5 and GS-7 levels. Civil Service eligibility must be acquired through successfully passing the Federal Service Entrance Examination. Some candidates who have two years of graduate study in city planning may also qualify at GS-9 if they have elig¬ ibility on the Civil Service register for City Planners. In addition to positions available at GS-5, GS-7 and GS-9, vacancies also occur at grades GS—1 1 through GS—14.
