The following suggestions if attended to in sending orders will serve t lessen the frequency of errors. Books are always sold per volume whether the lot has one or more vo umes; if a lot has lo vols., and you desire to pay %2 for it, make the bid 2 cents. Pamphlets the same, where the number is indicated thus (25), whe the number is omitted, lot or bundle is intended ; bid by the piece in ever case that number is given, in case of doubt, state expressly that the bid i for the lot. These are the Auction rules from which those in attendance ar not permitted to depart. Use this sheets send bids for one sale only ; fill out all the blanks and d not forget to sign your nante^ giving full shipping instructions each time arrange your bids in numerical order; make your figures plain ; give the firs word of the title and give extreme limit you are willing to pay ; all orders ar used in competition. If prices are left to our discretion we shall endeavo to exercise proper judgment, and we give the most careful attention to all orders. No books are purchased that are not in clean, sound, second hand condition, and should any imperfection be found, not mentioned in the cata- logue, the book may be returned, but advice of such return must be made on receipt of goods. No books returnable after fifteen days fi'om date of sale fo any imperfection or errors. Forward your orders early as possible to enabl us to avoid errors by hasty entry. A very large proportion of books offered at our sales are secured by customers outside of Boston, catalogues being sent to all the prominent libraries, book-sellers and private buyers in the United States, from which we are favored with numerous orders, and it is obvious that we are exceedingly busy the days preceding a sale. This fact prompts these instructions, the advantages of which will be readily perceived. We make no charge for purchasing or packing, except for boxes and cartage for freight shipment.
