The Depart- ment of State Historian and Archives is not included, also the State Law Library and the many law libraries located in different towns throughout the state, have been omitted. } | @Proewrr® HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARIES | Questionnaires were sent to all of the first class high schools but replies were received from only 83 schools. The following information was taken from these replies: Total number of books 607,802 (in 130 schools). Number of books per student—20 (in 130 schools). 53 of the 83 have library rooms. 14 of these libraries are in class rooms. 29 are in study halls or the library is used as study hall. 58 are classified and catalogued. 23 give lessons on the use of the library.
