This Technical Note documents the mechanical drawings for the Multispectral Scattering
Imager developed for MIT Lincoln Lab and the Navy. The MSI system is designed to
measure visibility, or to measure the effective scattering coefficient over extended paths.
Although a formal report has not yet been issued, the MSI was documented in two SPIE
papers dated August 2005 and August 2006.
This document includes the drawings done by Justin Baker, parts list, and also the photos
of the system. We did not have to build any new electrical circuits for this system, as it
used the D/N WSI ACP, camera and camera housing, and computer. Drawings for these
components may be found in the ARM D/N WSI document (Tech Note 270). Most of
the parts we used were borrowed from the Air Force system 2, and no list has been
created for these parts (although many of them are listed in Tech Note 270). However,
the parts list for any new components we purchased is attached, and the PO's specific to
the MSI can be found in the AG02 PO's folder in the MSI files.
The electronic files for the AutoCad drawings are stored on Justin's computer under
C:\Documents and Settings\Justin Baker\My Documents\WSI Auto CAD Drawings\
MSI
Mods. The electronic files for the pictures are stored on Justin's computer under
C:\Documents and Settings\Justin Baker\My Documents WSI Pictures MSI. These files
have also been backed up by Monette.
