 the market. Has a rope ridge and 
 small ropes sewn in seams at corners, 
 so it only has two upright poles to be 
 carried which can be jointed for 75 
 cents, net, for the two poles. Mak- 
 ing it the most portable and easiest 
 pitched of any tent in the market. 
 
 To pitch tent, lay it on the ground 
 square. Then piit corner stake out 
 nearly to end of guy and in line with 
 bias corners; then loop guy over 
 stakes, push up the center poles, put 
 middle stakes and guys in place, and

 our chapter on Flags in oui present cata- 
 logue, and have, we believe, a greater vari- 
 ety of colored Foreign Nations Flags than 
 can be found in the catalogue of any other 
 Flag-maker on earth. They have been col- 
 lected with great care. They are in nearly 
 every case the Merchant Flag of the nation 
 represented. That is, the Flag that would 
 be seen flying at the masthead of vessels in 
 our harbors.

 I We have hought the exclusive right for this territory of McKeon & Scott to manufacture and sell theii 
 atent self-Acting Spriug-lioller Awnings, for stores, offices and residences, and are prepared with skilled 
 orkmeu and appliances to do the work in the best manner. These awnings are too well and favorably 
 iiown in Kansas City to need commendation, but for the information of those outside the city we give some 
 1 f the points of beneiiton the store awnings: 
 
 1. The roller and goods are enclosed In a waterproof box, which is nicely moulded in cornice shape; 
 leroller is tubular and has steel springs which la the motive power for raising the awning up and down. 
 
 2. This awningrequii es no ropes, pulleys or chains, but is worked up anddown by u pole about eight 
 net long, which is hooked into au eye In front of awning pole, and by pulling out on the pole the aw'uing 
 
 ills out and stops at any point required, the closing up ot awning by pushing uji on said polo very lightly, 
 i the springs do the work and the operator only unbalances the inechanism. 
 
 I 3. The cloth lasts for many years, never has to be taken off in winter, and is always ready for use in 
 1 11 seasons 
 
 4. Special attention is called to the length of time goods remain clean and without getting torn, be- 
 luse there are no rests or carriers required to support this roller, and no friction against any part of the 
 9se, as the 1 oilers are suspended at each end, 
 
 5. In sudden storms they can be shutup in 10 seeonds. 
 
 6. These rollers are made of tubular iron galvanized and finely tempered steel springs covered with 
 jpperto prevent rust, but this is superfluous, as the rollers are water-tight and no rain or damp can pene 
 
 irate them. Ihesprings arewarranted unbreakable. 
 
 I 7. The neat appearance of these awnings are an advantage to all fronts. Architects have made space

 DIRECTIONS FOR MEASURING STORE AWNINGS. 
 
 First determine the place where the joints of the 
 frames will be fastened to the building, which 
 should be from seven to eight feet from the side- 
 walk, according to the height of the front, (see fig- 
 ure 2 in diagram); you will observe that the curtain, 
 fifteen inches deep, drops below that point, for 
 which you will have to allow for clearing people’s 
 heads. Then measure from there to where the top 
 of Awning can be fastened above the windows (see. 
 figure 1 in diagram) which will be the distance from 1 to 2, or height of Awning; 2 to 
 3 in a high building should be the same as 1 to 2; but in a low one a little more. Then meas- 
 ure the width of the store from center of column on one side to the same on the other side, 
 which will be the distance from 3 to 4, or width of Awning. If the lop of the windows 
 where the Awning is to be attached, projects beyond the face of the building, or is back out 
 level, mention how much. When ordering an Awning state whether it is to be fastened in 
 stone, brick, iron or wood, both as regards the top and bottom, and whether the door posts 
 and face of the building or outer columns are in line ; also, whether the frame requires three 
 /or mor 5 or less joints and bars. In ordering a new covei for Awning state whether the 
 front bar is of iron or wood.

 tion, patented August 12, 1884, and will take the place of all otbe

 Horsemen understanding its principle, can appreciate i

 a stylish appearance with complete protection to the animal 
 back, it gives better satisfaction for the following reasons: 
 
 1st. You will have no sore-back horses 
 Will outwear any other kind. 
 
 White and soft, no dye or poison, forms no knots. j 
 Easily washed, quickly dried, and can be kept clean aij 
 
 Always folded and ready for use . 
 
 Quickly adjusted in case of sudden mounts. 
 
 Simple act of turning one of the cloths brings a fre

 8th. The under cloth being stationary, the friction occu

 Equally suitable for long or short distance riders, is especially so for mounted troops and ranchmen, as in the case

 This device we believe fills a long- felt 
 want, and will be appreciated at once, we 
 think, by farmers and others who are hand- 
 ling grain or seeds loose in wagons. 
 
 As it will not signify how leaky a wagon 
 may be, this lining will make it grain or 
 seed tight at once, thus sa-ving time in fixing 
 it and also saving much grain that leaks out, 
 even after fixing it in the old way. It will 
 also obviate the necessity of sacking such 
 seeds as flax, millet, clover, timothy, cane, 
 kafiir and broom corn, etc. 
 
 This lining is made 10 feet long, 3 feet 
 wide and 3 feet high. The top edge overlaps 
 the sides and ends of wagon and has eyelets 
 to go over hooks as shown in cut. In the 
 back end at the bottom the end is made long 
 and is not sewed across the back, but tucks 
 ' under the cloth in the bed and is held there 
 by the weight of grain, but can be easily 
 freed to let out the grain while unloading.

 As will be seen on page no of this Catalogue, we do a large business in renting Tents, Cots, etc. 
 ,'e have a large variety of sizes and styles of Tents, ranging from Circus, Side-Show, Preaching, 
 table. Family, Refreshment and Camping Tents. These Tents are always for sale if not engaged in 
 le near future, at greatly reduced prices, and are constantly being sold and replenished with new 
 ents. So we nearly always have a supply of nearly new Tents to be sold at bargains. 
 
 Our standard sizes of Wall Tents that we rent in large quantities are 9^x12 and 12x14, which 
 e have in 8, 10 and 12-ounce duck. We would call the special attention of dealers to these sizes,

 We also rent a large quantity of 9x19 and 14x23)^ Family Compartment Tents (Seepages 14 to 
 '). They are made ■with 10 and 1 2-ounce army duck tops and lo-ounce single filling duck walls. The 
 nailer sizes have three rooms, and the larger five rooms each. They are an excellent tent and we 
 11 them very cheap. Before buying, write us what kind and size of Tents you want, and it is very
