In presenting this catalog to you we hope it will be of valuable assistance, for with the illustrations, we believe it to be a complete catalog that will assist you in the sale of these goods. As the officers and employees of this company have had many years (in many instances a life time) of experience in the manufacture of this class of work, they realize the importance of maintaining our high standard of quality; which, with the assistance of the most modern machinery, and being supported with ample capital, we are enabled to do. As many cases of ornamental work require special drawings, we are always willing to sub¬ mit details or any special designs required. All inquiries will receive prompt attention. Respectfully THE FRED J. MEYERS MFG. CO. MEYCO GRILLES The Meyco Grille gives added smartness to the door, in addition to insuring double wear. It is the only popular priced grille made. S CREEN DOORS get more abuse than most anything else around the house. But, it isn’t the swinging open and shut many times a day, every day for months, that wears them out. It’s the repeated pushing, shoving, and kicking against the wire cloth itself, that put holes through the mesh, make it bulge and stretch, and finally break loose from the frame. CHILDREN FORGET—It happens in every home! Even where the people are more than usually careful, the children are sure to push holes through the screen that with proper care would stay new-looking and fly-tight indefinitely. But, you can save your customers from the cost of this damage to their screens—sell more screens, make a double profit. 2 MEYCO GRILLES The Meyco Grille can be fastened across the face of the screen door frame, or the'upper and lower bars can be bent at right an¬ gles, and-fitted inside the frame, the same as\’shownj’on page 2. Double service from every screen equipped with Meyco Grille Equip a few of your screen doors with Meyco Grilles, set them where people will see them, show them to customers, quoting price com¬ plete with grille attached, and you’ll make two sales in one, sell more screens, make an extra profit, have better satisfied customers. Meyco Grilles sell on sight because they protect screen doors against the kicks, shoves, and bumps that so quickly stretch and tear the best screen cloth. Easily attached to screen by anyone in a few minutes. Show a customer a Meyco-equipped screen door first, and nine times out of ten he’ll pay the $2.00 to $2.50 more to get a screen which he can see will last at least twice as long. For only about twenty-five per cent extra cost, he’ll be buying double service. He’ll get a better looking screen, and make an investment that will save him money. Low Cost Protection Meyco Grilles afford real screen protection at a low cost never before possible. Because of our volume of business, and unique manu¬ facturing methods, Meyco Grilles sell at a price that makes it an economy to use them on every screen. Furnished in three attractive finishes — black, brassine (smooth, rich finish which looks like brass), or bronze. You have a margin of from forty to forty- five per cent on the selling price of every Meyco Grille sold. Add this to your profits on your extra screen sales, and you can under¬ stand why dealers everywhere find it pays to handle Meyco Grilles. Introductory Assortment So that you may satisfy yourself that there are real profits in the Meyco Line, we are offering a special introductory assortment. This assortment consists of a half dozen black finish grilles, and a quarter dozen each of the brassine and bronze finish grilles. 3 MEYCO GRILLES Patent Applied for A DOUBLE SALE TO EVERY SCREEN DOOR CUSTOMER SELL A COMPLETE SCREEN DOOR Dealers in screen doors have greatly increased their profits by adopting a policy of always displaying and pricing the screen doors in their stores with Meyco Grilles attached. Formerly sales were made of the screen door only. By attaching Meyco Grilles the complete sale is made in many cases without the customer even considering the purchase any other way. This means two sales in one, a double profit without extra effort, more sales and better satisfied customers. Having the screen doors equipped with Meyco Grilles makes a good display without requiring extra space and will sell many Grilles for old doors already in use. Meyco Grilles sell on sight because they protect screen doors against the kicks, shoves, and bumps that so quickly stretch and tear the best screen cloth. Easily attached to screen by anyone in a few minutes. Meyco Grilles afford real protection at a low price. Also used as window guards and to prevent children from falling out of the window. Give lengths of stone from end of coping to end of coping at gate, then width of the gate between coping, then give the length from end of coping at gate to end of coping. Measure and give drop on both sides of gateway, and state if there is stone or earth at bottom of drop. If there is not room for the gate to swing inside, mention it, as our walk gates open both in and out and are self closing. We can make them to swing but one way, either in or out. Always make a diagram of coping, and give the shape and size, both width and height. If there is no drop in coping at gate, measure from end of coping to center of gate, and mention no drop in gate. If coping extends around the comer, measure to outside of coping, and by giving size of coping we can make our own calulations where the posts set. If coping is on a grade, state how much and mark high and low corners where grade begins and ends. If coping is level mention coping is level. If coping at gateway is curved or recessed, bend a heavy wire to fit center of coping exactly, cut the wire off even with the end of coping and even with the point measured from on stone, lay this wire on paper and mark around it and across ends with a lead pencil; mark which is the end of coping and send the paper to us with order. Always make a mark on diagram to indicate the side gate hinges to. Gates hinged on right-hand posts are most convenient. If gates are to be hinged on stone posts, send us drawing of post, with height and size of post, so we will know how to hinge same. Also give us correct measure between posts. DIRECTIONS FOR MEASURING FENCE THAT SETS IN GROUND When making diagram, always stand on sidewalk and face the house or lot to be fenced from outside, and mark north, south, east and west on diagram. Give lengths from outside of post on end to center gate, then from center of gate to outside of end post. If fence extends around the comer give lengths from center of gates to center of corner post, then from center of corner post to center of gate or to outside of end post, as the case may be. If fence is on a grade, state how much and where grade begins and ends. If level, mention it being level. If fence is wanted curved or recessed at gateway, give radius of recess. Always make a mark on diagram to indicate the side gate hinges to. Gates hinged on right- hand posts are most convenient. Below we show how diagrams are to be made, and if directions here given are followed, mis¬ takes will be avoided. If recess is not wanted, draw a straight line, but in every case measure to center of gate, and make diagram on back of order blank; don't send diagram on a slip, as it is liable to be lost. Always measure from outside to outside of end posts, and to center of gates. Strong and expensive work, such as our patent Truss Bar Cage, is unnecessary for a city lockup. We manufacture a large variety of styles and sizes of Cages intended for use in these Lockups, Station Houses, Work Houses, Reformatories, etc. The cuts herewith show single cells of styles of construction most commonly used. They are comparatively inexpensive, and sufficiently secure for the purpose in¬ tended. The number of such cells re¬ quired depends wholly upon the number of prisoners to be cared for. Cut No. 13 — Flat Bar, Riveted Work Each cell is well locked, and is furnished with one or more of our folding beds. This Station House work is made of such size and shape as to suit the requirements and dimensions of the room in which it is to be placed. Write to us, stating your needs and the size of your cellroom, and we will cheerfully send a plan of a cage especially designed to meet the requirements of your particular case. We are often asked how many cells a city or county requires. To determine this, divide the number of prisoners you wish to care for by four, and the result is the number of cells required. 53 EXTRA HEAVY STEEL, GALVANIZED AND BRASS WIRE FOUNDRY RIDDLES Every Dealer should handle heavy Galvanized Riddles. Also, all the different kinds of brass, copper and galvanized cloths for any of the various purposes for which wire cloths are used. Table Showing the Difference Between Wire Gauges Suggestions in Ordering Wire Cloth GAUGE By reference to the table showing the variation between gauges, it will be noted that such a variety of sizes exist under the same number, that there is a great liability for confusion or misunderstanding. While the Washburn & Moen Gauge, among manu¬ facturers, is termed the “Standard” for all Steel, Gal¬ vanized, and Tinned wire cloth, and the Old English Gauge for all Brass, Copper and Bronze wire cloth, we cannot urge or recommend too strongly the use of the “Micrometer Caliper” “Ashcroft,” or “Ames” Gauge to exactly determine the finer sizes. It will readily be seen that where the diameter of a wire is given in thousandths of an inch, there is no chance for deviation on the part of the manufacturer, either in quoting or filling specifications. For example note the wide variation in diameter in No. 10 Gauge under the different heads—or better still the proportionately more noticeable difference in No. 36 Gauge. The WASHBURN & MOEN Gauge is designated in this catalog by the initials W. & M. and the OLD ENGLISH gauge by the initials 0. E., but we also show the diameter of the wire in decimals, and as stated above would recommend using the decimals in speci¬ fying sizes of wire both on inquiries and orders.
