The Fairfacts Company is undoubtedly the largest of its kind in the world, with all that it iniplies of experience, facilities and service. Fairfacts Bathroom Accessories are fitted to modern needs, adequate in all the essentials, and attractive in appearance. That they have ])ro- foundly afifected, have revolutionized the e([uipment of the modern bathroom, is demonstrated on every hand. They are of high-grade china. The S])ecial [)rocess of manufacture, devel()])ed after many vears, results in a body and surface finish of the finest ([uality that is also ])ractically everlasting. The expansion and contraction of the body and surface finish is so nearly equal that no surface cracks or fractures occur. Sanitai'}" Engineers call china the best and most sanitary material known for bathroom users. Fairfacts Fixtures are non-ahsorbent,. sanitar}- and efficient. There is no nickel to polish, no white coating to wear off or chip off. They always retain their spotless appearance, maintaining the high standard of cleanliness now demanded. The same straight, dignified lines, the same design has been carried out in the various fixtures, as with a fine dinner set; harmonizing with the plumbing fixtures and the straight lines of the tile wall. These accessories have been widelv imitated, but like most imitations, manv are of poor quality, and jmrchasers shoidd protect themselves by insisting upon having genuine Fairfacts Fixtures. A practical, pleasing sanitary and really satisfactory installation can be made on any type of interior wall construction or surface finish. See Page 3 for meth¬ ods of setting in the following types of wall: Interior Construction Wood stud Terra cotta or hollow tile P.rick Gypsum block i\Ietal stud walls (thin) Bond Metal lath Wood lath Plaster board Sheetrock W.\LL Finish Tile Plaster Keene’s cement Fairfacts Fixtures Should Be Included in the Construction Work and Men¬ tioned in the Tile Specifications The desirability of building accessories into the walls during the period of construction has been gen¬ erally recognized. Fairfacts fixtures should be included in tbe construction work, mentioned in the tile speci¬ fications and shown on the drawings. Important: Fairfacts fixtures are sold and installed by tile contractors and should be included in the tile contract, if used on tile finish walls. Made in Tile Sizes—Select Proper Size to Fit the Tile The tiles generally used for walls are made in 6x3. 6x6 and 4)4N4)4-in. sizes, and Fairfacts accessories are made to fit these unit sizes or their multiples. Care should be exercised to see that tbe proper sizes are selected to fit the tile, and their installation can be easily made. Types of Fairfacts Pixtures and Methods of Installation: Biltin or Recessed Type, Semi-recess Type, and Project¬ ing Type Biltin or Recessed Type — These are set into or recessed almost entirely into the walls, and cemented in place when the tile or other wall finish is ])Ut on. The greatest depth reciuired in the wall is 3)4 i'l-. except for F-180 radiator, which needs 5 in. When used on tiled walls they _ FI 15 should he included in the tile con- Built in Type-section tract. Recessed fixtures that are 6x3. 6.\6, 6x9 and 6x12 in. require little cutting of tile when set in 6x3 or 6x6-in. tile. All these fixtures can be set in 4)4 n 4)4-in. tile but it requires more cutting. All 4)4x4)4, 6x4)4 and 8)4x4)4-in. recessed fixtures are for use with 4‘^x4)4-in. tile. Scini-reccss Type —These fixtures recess into the wall but 1 in. and for this reason are admirably suited for installation in unusually thin partitions of all kinds. Also in circumstances where piping or other obstructions are found in walls of the usual depth or thickness. They are cemented in place and have a flange that overlaps the aperture, covering up the edges of the opening. This type of fixture is set as noted for Recess Type. Projecting Type —In other respects their instal¬ lation corresponds to the Biltin or Recessed Fixtures. They have special backs or wall attachments by which they are cemented to the wall. These backs are of two kinds: “Back Shank or Dowel Type” and “Clincher” Back Type. Where recessed fixtures are not desired, these projecting fixtures will be found adequate and very attractive as they have been designed with unusual care to improve on existing metal patterns and to meet the demands of modern bathrooms. Back Shank or Dowel Fi.rturcs —The depth required in the wall for this type is only 1 in. The dowels are heavy and strong and make a very sub¬ stantial wall attachment. When Set in Tile Walls —Usually set after the tile is in place. A hole corresponding to the shape, size and depth of the dowel, but slightly larger, is made in the wall. The dowel is then well covered with rich cement or plaster of paris and fixture pushed into place. Kote: Make holes in tile preferably at intersection of tile joints. Be sure hole is not too large to be concealed by fixture. When Set in Keene's Cement or Plaster Walls — Hole is cut in wall and fixture pushed into place as for tile wall, but it is desirable that pieces of studding with their wide sides towards the front be nailed to studs (flush with face of studs) and the hole cut in the pieces of studding (see illustration). Clincher Back Fixtures —Made in tile sizes to avoid cutting the tile. They are cemented in place and the greatest depth needed is % in. Jl’hen Set in Tile ll'alls —Installed while tile is being set, or opening of proper dimensions may be left in tile work and fixtures set later. Make openings deep enough for liberal quantity of rich cement or plaster of paris and also cover the back of fi.xtures and fill the clinchers with the cement. Then push or tamp fixtures into place until glazed surface is flush with finished wall. When Set in Keene's Cement or Plaster Walls — Set fi.xtures before ajiplying finish coat to wall. Ex¬ pose the lath where fi.xtures are to go and set as for tile walls. Xote: For walls with wood stud interior and sheetrock or plaster board bond, see illustration for method of preparing opening. ing is prepared set fi.xtures as described for “When Set in Tile Walls. Important when Selecting Ihltin Soap Holders having the front lip are the regular pattern. Uecause of the vertical opening very little water collects, and they neetl only to be cleaned as occasion demands. These soaj) holders really hold the soap: it does not slip over the edge dowti to the floor. Hiltin Soap Holders having the fluted iiase, self-draining type, are used with shower baths, over bathtubs or in shower compartments. The self-draining feature prevents accumulation of water from shower, as the valleys slope toward the front discharging the water, and the soap sup¬ porting ridges slope backward, preventing soap from falling out. Hiltin Soap Holders larger than 6 in. are desirable where individuaN in a family use different soaps; or for soap and sponge. Y., in accordance with the subjoined specifica¬ tion and schedule of accessories. (2) Setting Biltin (Recessed Type)—-(a) In stud and mertal lath partitions, cut the metal lath across the top of the opening and down the two sides; bend the flap hack to form a shelf and fill the space around the opening with excelsior bound together with plaster of paris to form a pocket; then set the piece in rich cement in the same manner that tile is set. (b) In masonry partitions, cut pockets and fill up any openings to prevent the escape of cement when setting.
