He Lords and Commons affembled in Parliament, finding the many Battells S ieges and other fervice performed by the Army under the Command of Sir Tho¬ mas Fairfax^,;mi the necefiarie recrui¬ ting and iupplying'thereof at fo great a diftance hath occafioned a ferre greater expcnce, then was at firft conceived, And alfo the great Ad¬ vantages, which through the bleffing of God, the Common-wealth hath received by the unwearied indeavours of the faid Army; Doehold'it neceirai'y,that a Confiderable fumme of money bee forthwith ad-^ vanced for the fupply of the faid Array^ and defraying of the charges incident thereunto, Have Ordained, and doe hereby Ordaineby authority of Parliament, that the fumme of forty thoufand pounds Ihall be forthwith advanced by way of Loane for the intents andpurpofes aforefaid,by,andonfuchperfonsof abiiitie as (hall vo¬ luntarily, or by AffelTment lend the fameon the Securi-- ty,and Termes'hereafterexpre{fed.
