Anti-Germ Individual Cup Sanitary Bubble DRINKING FOUNTAINS For Horses THE H. F. JENKS CO., Inc. For People Pawtucket, R. I., U. S. A. Material and Construction Foundation The Base The Column The Bowl The Post Bubble for People The Waterways Ease of Access Durability Shipping — Weight THE No. 12 fountains are made of extra heavy castings, assembled in the best possible * manner and cannot be easily damaged by blows of heavy vehicles. The foundation is made with stone or cement extending to within 5 inches of street grade. A plan of the cement work is sent with fountain. Four 1 inch by 21 inch bolts are used for fasten- ing the base of the fountain to the cement. The bolts should have a 3-inch washer at the head and anchored 18 inches in the cement. The thread end of bolt should be 3 inches out of the cement and have a locknut. The base of fountain is 44 inches square and 13 inches deep. The holes are 33 inches center to center. The column sets on and is fastened to the base with four 1-inch forged bolts with lock nuts and is 15 inches square. A door is provided convenient to all piping and also two cups for small animals. The bowl is fastened to the column by four 1-inch bolts with lock nuts. The top of bowl is 4 feet, 3 inches above street grade, a sufficient height for horses to drink without the driver being obliged to uncheck them. Four Individual Cups are placed at convenient intervals in and as a part of the bowl. The post which gives a total height to the fountain of 6 feet, 11 inches, contains the reservoir which supplies water to the bubble for people and also the small animal cups. Water is brought to the bubble from a reservoir in the upper part of the fountain by pressing the pedal at the base with the foot, and disappears as soon as the pressure is removed, or by direct supply controlled by a self closing cock; Our own patented bubbler is used and cannot be made to squirt water. The waterways are so constructed that they will not get clogged by sediment or freeze in cold weather On account of the form, poles and shafts of vehicles approaching the fountain readily pass under- neath the bowl, so that when four horses are to be watered in the same team, either the two leaders or the pole horses can drink together, while standing in a natural position, with as much ease as a single horse. Every fountain is assembled and tested before leaving our factory and does not require any mechan- ical skill to set up. A pipe connection with valve to regulate the flow of water is furnished, to which the service pipe is attached. In this connection we wish to quote an engineer who was for a great many years a superintendent and water commissioner in one of the largest cities in the country, whose experience with all kind of fountains is second to none, as follows: “The Jenks Fountains are the only ones I have ever seen worthy the name of a street drinking fountain for horses. ' ’ Hundreds of our fountains have been in continuous use for over thirty years and are good for as many more. The No. 12 weighs 2,300 pounds and is shipped ready to go on -foundation. NO. 12— FOUNTAIN FOR THE CURB— WITH OR WITHOUT BUBBLE FOR PEOPLE Material and Construction Foundation The Base The Column The Bowl The Post The Waterways Ease of Access Durability Action Shipping — Weight nr HE No. 16 fountains are arranged for constant How of water and are made of extra heavy * castings. They are built to stand the hard use and abuse received by street drinking fountains. The foundation is made with stone or cement extending to within 7 inches of street grade. A plan is sent with fountains. Four 1-inch by 21 -inch bolts are anchored 18 inches deep in the cement. The thread end should be out of the cement 3 inches' Lock nuts should be used. The base is made so that the upper part forms a trough for small animals. This trough is 29 inches in diameter and 3 s inches deep. The whole depth of base is 16 inches. At the bottom of the base is a flange 4 feet, 2 inches largest diameter, with four holes, for bolts set in cement. The column is 16 inches in diameter and is fastened to base with four 1-inch forged bolts and lock nuts. A door convenient to water valve is located in column and is fastened with a patent- ed lock and key of our own design. The bowl sets on and is fastened to the column by six I inch cap screws. The top of bowl is 51 inches above street grade, of sufficient height to allow horses to drink without being unchecked. Six Anti-Germ Individual Cups are cast into the bowl at convenient intervals. The post is simply for ornamentation and may be surmounted with an inscription plate. As in all of our fountains, the flow can not be clogged by sediments nor will the water freeze in winter weather enough to obstruct the flow through the fountain. Poles and shafts of vehicles in coming up to fountain, go underneath the bowl, allowing horses to drink in a comfortable position. Every fountain is assembled and tested before leaving our factory and does not require any mechanical skill to set up. A pipe connection with valve to regulate the flow of water is fur- nished, to which the service pipe is attached. Water comes into the cups at the bottom, fills, and overflows into the trough, the water flowing over the entire rim of cup, washing it thoroughly. The trough is simply a protection to the cups against injury, to convey the waste water to sewer, and is practically empty at all times. A horse in drinking from the cup will lower the water about 3 inches, and before he can move away and another animal reach the cup, the water has overflowed, carrying any scum or phlegm that may have been left, over into the bowl.
