Gooch Division of Bibliography PREFACE This bibliography consists of selected references to literature on land reform and related subjects which appeared during the period 1940 to the present. English, French, and Spanish are the principal languages represented; however, a few citations in other tongues are listed, as are certain items which were published prior to this period. Ma¬ terial pertaining to continental United States and to Canada has been omitted. Included are land tenure, land reform, land ownership, tenancy and tenant farming, rents, agricultural credit (for the acquisition of land and equipment), and the taxation of land. References giving broad coverage to their subject, or containing material relating to more than one country, are grouped under the heading “General”. Items dealing with French North Africa, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India were selected from lists provided by the Division of Library and Reference Serv¬ ices, U. S. Department of State, without further examination. Other items not examined are marked with an asterisk (*). Call numbers are those of the U. S. Department of Agriculture Library. The bibliography grew out of the interest and activities of the Inter-Agency Committee on Land Reform Problems, and was compiled in the Library of the Department of Agriculture.
