Loss by decay, while not as rapid as by fire, is nevertheless just as sure. Painting is essential. Good paint is necessary for good results. Insist upon Patton’s trade-marked packages with the analyses thereon. Care in the Application of Paint Lumber should be perfectly dry. Never paint in damp or frosty weather. Never use or allow the use of ochre as a primer. Never permit the use of adulterated paint. It i-- expensive and good results cannot be expected. Do not flow on, but brush the paint in well, thoroughly filling all cracksand crevices. Brieily: “Use elbow grease.” If the surface has been previously painted and is chipped or blistered, the old paint should be carefully removed bv burning or scraping.
