P roem EALIZING that advancement is the key to success, the Folding Bath Tub Company has ever striven to keep abreast the times. Its success has been phenominal, and to-day it stands the lead- ing industry of the kind in the world. It has its imitators, as in other lines of business, but no equals. The business of the Company last year increased 50 per cent, over the preceding year, and this with little or no effort in the line of sol- iciting new business. Limited factory capacity forbade our reaching out; but now, that we have large, new and commodious works, a cut of which is given on page two of this Catalogue, we are prepared to meet almost any demand for our goods. The new works are supplied with all the modern machinery of the day, and all in all, we have a large advantage over any previous period of our existence. When the Company moved into the factory it has but recently vacated for a more modern home, it was supposed that it would be many years before another change would be necessary, but the popularity of our goods made a change imperative, and we met the demand. ......... Tfris p opular Batfr IS specially designed for suburban residences, flats, houses with limited space, hotels, sanitar- iums and public and private buildings of all kinds. It requires less than two feet of floor space and is as ornamental, when not in use, as a folding bed or dresser. By its use no bath room is needed. It can be placed in any apartment of the house; an ornament to any room; any child can operate it; uses gas or gasoline; warms 20 gallons of water in 20 minutes. It is an undeniable fact that only a few years ago bath tubs were looked upon as a luxury, only enjoyed by the wealthier classes, and beyond the reach of those in moderate circumstances. None of us will hesitate to say that there is nothing about our homes so much needed for the promotion of good health and happiness as a bath tub. They are no longer looked upon as luxury but a necessity in every household. After years of careful study we have invented and perfected an article that fully meets the requirements for which it is intended, and is sure to please the most fastidious, and at the same time be of nominal cost. How often we hear people make this remark: "If ever I build a new house the first thing to be considered will be a bath room. ' ' The Folding Bath Tub is not a new and untried article. It has now been manufactured for several years, during which time a large number have been sold, and the demand has steadily increased, not as the result of a widely extended "puffing" advertisement, but chiefly from the recommendation of those who have themselves used the bath. poldiog Bath) Tub CoropaQy ^ Catalogue. UR BATHS are all made after the latest French designs, standard in size, 5 ft. and 5 ft. 6 in. in length, lined with extra heavy zinc or copper. The cabinets are made of hardwood lumber, thoroughly kiln-dried and finished in a strictly first-class manner throughout. The two side hinges that connect the foot of tub to the back of Heater, in connection with rollers at bottom, allow an easy and partially automatic movement. This is one of the most important features of our invention. It consists of two iron flanges being respectively flat on one side and the other two sides bell shape to allow the waste pipe to enter, and a wrought iron nipple to connect ' - to pipe running out of doors. Between these two flanges is a rubber gasket with a hole smaller than the largest diameter of the waste pipe, which is made of brass and tapers so as to force its way into the gasket as the tub is let down in position for a bath, and to disconnect itself when folded up out of the way, making an ingenious and lasting connection. The Heater resting on the brackets is made of the best galvanized iron and has water capacity for warming 20 gallons of water to any temperature desired, and is illustrated hereafter. The Floor Space required for our 5 foot bath when unfolded ready for use is 6 feet 6 inches in length and less than 2 feet wide and, when folded up, less then 2 feet square and 5 feet 6 inces high. Sniping weight 130 Hbs on which we get very low freight rates. Th>e Waste Water g Connection poldiQg Batb Tub Coroparjy ^ Catalogue. Improved Bath Heater. Having recently perfected a valuable improvement in our Bath Heater used in connection with our Folding Baths, and see- ing the necessity of a cheaper as well as a less complicated standard bath heater, we have placed it on the market to be used in connection with the ordinary bath and feel confident that it will find its way into many homes, and thereby be- come a great favorite. It consists of an eliptical coil constructed of inch copper tubing attached to the bottom of heater in such a way as to cause the water to circulate pis" Hi ESP 1 • as soon as the burners are lighted, and at the same time allowing the flame to come in direct contact with the bot- tom of heater, thus causing the water to warm both by radiation and circulation at the same time, making it superior to any bath heater | now on the market. In con- nection with this coil we employ a three-way cock that is so arranged that by raising a lever the circulation through the heater can be shut off and the water drawn through the coil directly into the bath ; by so doing the water is raised 20 . This heater can be arranged to burn either gas or gasoline. Will warm 20 gallons of water in from 15 to 25 minutes and can be used in connection with water a service or otherwise. poldipg Batb Tub Company Catalogue. gooo * # HEALTH. OUR r r f SaQitary BATH . CHAIR. ** poldiog Bath) Tub Coropaoy Catalogue £l^Sar)itary Bath Chair S the best known means for the preservation and improvement of health, and for the preven- tion or cure of disease, and it effects these results by the production and maintenance of a healthy skin, which can only be done by opening and cleansing the millions of pores in its surface. Following its direct influence upon the skin, this bath exerts a secondary and most salutary effect upon almost all the organs of the body, and thus becomes perhaps' the most powerful agent for the prevention and cure of disease. Those who cultivate its habitual use are by it rendered very little liable to the attacks of epidemic and infectious disorders, while they gener- ally enjoy almost perfect immunity from coughs and colds. Where disease has established itself, it is seldom that this bath fails to afford relief, while for many disorders it is an almost certain cure. But great as are the advantages of bathing, many obvious drawbacks and inconveniences attend the use of the ordinary bath. First among these is its frequent inaccessibility. Precisely when most needed it cannot be used. When the body is enfeebled by sickness, or even when one is suffering from a severe cold it would obviously be unwise to make the journey to the bath room, which is generally at some remote apartment of the house, and often inaccessible. The undoubted occasional danger of exposure from which many shrink is obviated by the use of the Bath Chair, which can be brought directly to the patient's bedside. There is no class who may not derive benefit from its use. To the wealthy it offers at once a great luxury and a means of increased enjoyment of the advantages of their station. To those who live sedentary lives it affords the best substitute for exercise ; while to those who labor hard it gives ready relief from fatigue. poldip g Bath) Tub Coropapy ^ Catalogue. Hjadies will find our Bath Chair especially valuable, as it can be used in the strictest privacy; moreover the CI^>\ ^ testimony of distinguished medical men, and the experience of many, have ^\ X ^ J shown that it is the best means of preserv- ing and improving the complexion, of preventing and removing any tendency to embonpoint, and of retaining and enhancing the charms of youth. It is the most practical and easy method of obtaining the great benefits to be derived from medicinal baths of all kinds, including hip, foot, sulphur, alcohol, mustard, salt and bran baths. By adjusting the flexible mantle which fits closely around the neck, confining all the heated air or vapors, as the case may be. The head remaining outside, all the inconvenience of impure air is removed. The head, nevertheless, perspires almost as freely as the rest of the body. We have also a combined alcohol or gas heater that is placed inside the tub at the bottom, between the bathers feet, where it is under full control of the person taking the bath without the aid of an attendant. With this heater one can take a Turkish or vapor bath at home equal, if not better, than going to a regular bath house, thus saving much time and expense. We particularly call the attention of physicians and all others to the fact that we have a special cabinet battery made especially for electrical treatment in connection with the Baih Chair. A striking feature of our Bath Chair, is its extreme lightness, permitting it to be easily transferred from one apartment to another, even by a child, and requires but little water com- pared to the amount needed for the ordinary bath. The refuse water is readily disposed of, the waste being placed in the front at the proper height from the floor to permit of chair being tipped forward by taking hold of the rail at the back, and the water allowed to escape into a pail, and thus avoids lifting the weight of water. It is made of galvanized iron, richly finished to represent oak, surmounted by an antique rail, and presents a neat, pleasing appearance. In height it is two feet in front, two feet and four inches in back, one foot and ten inches in width, and two feet and eight inches in length. poldirjg Batb Tub Coropaoy ^) flOQual Catalogue. Heretofore this much needed article has always been made in a basket or bag form and tucked away in some remote corner or in the closet where it is not accessible and becomes a stumbling block for every member of the household. Our invention can be placed in either bath or sleeping room, affording as it does a Toilet Case in connection, which makes it doubly useful and at the same time beautifies the room. These cabinets are handsomely designed; made of ash with natural or antique finish, 17 inches deep, 28 inches wide and 30 inches high, aside from the Wall Splasher. The Hamper itself being 16 inches wide, 24 inches long and 24 inches deep inside measure, having ample room for an extra large washing, and is so arranged as to open and close at the slightest touch. To avoid the objection of shutting the clothes up too closely we have arranged a ventilating flue at top of Hamper in rear 2^ inches by 24 inches, which gives them free circulation at all times. This combination is sure to find its way in every furniture and novelty store in the country, and as it will be covered with letters patent, and we not being able to manufac- ture only a limited number in connection with our other specialties, which we have already created a large demand for, we would advise dealers to place their orders early and for not less than one-fourth dozen lots, as the freight would be no more than on a single one. poldiog Bath) Tub Coroparjy Catalogue. ^Letters from Purchasers.-^* Appended are a few letters, such as we are receiving daily from all parts of the country : Clifton, Tenn., Jan. 16, '93.
