 To those not versed in Iron Pipe Sizes — and even gas-fitters are 
 puzzled sometimes — this Chart will come in handy when any doubt 
 exists regarding drops in ceilings or walls, or when size of fittings is 
 (jnestioned ; and if consulted there will be no excuse for any one to

 Our Iiisiilutiiig Joint is unlike uny otlier in construction, being neither a union 
 nor !i pair of insulated disk flanges, hut it is a cupped flange which endtraces a 
 flanged idpple, and forms a body in which the insidation is inclosed ; all secured 
 against twisting or turning by steel screws which j)ass through and enter into solid 
 metal. 
 
 'I’lie inner insulation is im[)ei'viou,s to gas and its accompanying moisture; the 
 outer insidation is a washer of vulcanized fiber, which does not come in contact with 
 the gas. In some instances. ]iure gum washers have been substituted. 
 
 This fitting cannot be strained, short-circuited, or injured in ordinary use, and 
 has been well received wherever shown. It has been adopted by nearly all the ])arent 
 incandescent electric light companie.s, they having them in use and for sale.

 iS a device for operating incandescent lamps 'on arc or multiple 
 
 series circuit, so that the advantages of mnltijde arc systems are 
 obtained without the accompanying defects of expensive wiring and 
 limited distance. 
 
 The device is an automatic magnet with duplex action, which 
 substitutes an ecpiivalent for a lamp when broken or burned out, so 
 as to maintain the e(piilibrium of the circuit. The 2)rincij)le of the 
 magnetic switch is novel, and its contact is made firm and positive 
 by a patented magnetic action. All other cut outs depend on springs 
 or gravity to maintain contact, and a slight jar causes sparking, 
 which corrodes the contact point and soon destroys the contact.
