i Manufactured and Installed Exclusively by SIMON MANGES & SON, Inc. Established 1857 14-16-18 EAST 3 2.nd STREET * * NEW YORK CITY N response to requests from architects, interior decorators and others, we have issued this catalog illustrating Segnam Rub¬ ber Tile manufactured and installed exclusively by Simon Manges & Son, Inc. In the manufacture of rubber tile, in recent years great advances have been made with which our well equipped modern factory has kept pace. We make no superlative claims for our product beyond the fact that it is made of the finest raw materials by the most up-to-date methods. In wearing quality and appearance it is the equal of any com¬ petitive tile on the market and when further laboratory research de¬ velops the possibility of improving the quality, Segnam Rubber Tile immediately will be brought to the new standard. Inc., New York RUBBER T1V£ —ths vooicflv fvock ❖ Laying Method Where floors are of cement or concrete,Segnam Rubber Tile is affixed direct to the floor with the aid of Segnam Tile Cement, a special ad¬ hesive made exclusively for us. Where floors are of wood, it is necessary to make allowance for the expansion and contraction of the surface on which the tile is to be laid. Under these circumstances we first affix to the floor a layer of one and one half pound deadening felt over which a heavy cotton sheeting is tacked. These tacks stud the entire surface of the floor so as to hold the material firmly in place. It is on this base that the tile is then cemented. In evolving the design our tile layers work with the aid of a blue print especially prepared for the job in question. We pride ourselves upon the skill of our workmen. On the care and ability of these men depend the appearance and wear of the tile. The method of installation is fully as important as the quality of the tile itself. Architects and builders who are desirous of having a technical description of the proper specifications for the laying of our tile will ^ receive this on request. Directions for Ordering All the designs shown in this catalog may be had in a wide variety of hues. If ordering it is sug¬ gested that the specifications be similar to the descriptions under the illustrations on pages 5, 6 and 7. It will readily be observed that a wide variety of attractive effects may be obtained by combining different colors in the designs shown in this book. Thus, for example, the Isolated Square Design shown in cream and black on page 7 might be ordered as follows: ISOLATED SQUARE DESIGN Field — 6" x 12" Color 39-72 6" x 6" Color 7016. Ribbon — 1" —Color 1073. Border—Color 7016. This would produce an effect in ecru, black and red which would be equally attractive though quite different in effect from the design shown in the book. Orders or requests for estimate sent by mail should be accompanied by a plan of the spaces to be covered. It is unnecessary to specify the width of borders as these necessarily vary to conform with the size of the room. We endeavor, so far as possible, to allow for 9 inch borders. Our tile, when properly laid, should have few if any broken figures in the field. We prefer Segnam Tile to be laid by our workman. With the exception of train fare, we make no extra charge for measuring and laying within a radius of 75 miles of New York. The price per foot is governed by the quantity to be used, the nature of the pattern and the condition of the floor on which the tile is to be laid. Intricate patterns such as the Blazing Star Design and the Moorish Tile Design are a bit higher in price than the simpler patterns. We will be pleased to submit estimates on any projected installations. Our representative will call with samples on request. Weights and Sizes Segnam Rubber Tile is made in two weights, 3-16 inch thick and 14 inch thick respectively. The former is by far the most popular in demand as only the most unusual conditions of wear demand the use of the heavier tile. Tiles are cut in the following regular sizes: 6 x 6, 9 x 9, nx n, 6 x 9, 6 x ii, 9 x iz, 9 x 18 and iz x z/\ inches. Special sizes or shapes are also obtainable. Cove Base is made in two heights, 4 inches and 6 inches respectively. Colors Segnam Rubber Tile is made in a wide variety of colors, plain and marbleized. A number of marbleized effects are illustrated in this catalog and special colors are also obtainable. Quality Segnam Rubber Tile is a compound of rubber vulcanized under hydraulic pressure. It is soft, resilient and quiet under foot. It offers great resistance to wear, is sanitary and fire resistant. In appearance it is the most at¬ tractive form of flooring.
