It is a greatcoat in more than one sense. The heavy needle-resisting fabric de- mands all the talent and cleverness of our tailormen^ to insure the perfect proportions and the individuality which our standard of tailoring de- mands of every garment that our label identifies. To grant immunity from the wind and cold the coat but- tons twice- once on a false fly under- neath and again through the cloth. The back is a loose box effect. In design the coat has much in common with the con- servative Tourist model. The cloth straps from the shoulders to the edge of the skirt on both sides are not without a purpose— it is a knack which our tailormen devised to help insure the permanency of the shape, even though subjected to rough service. From the throat to the very edge of the skirt the coat buttons first on an inside fly and again through the cloth as the illustration demonstrates. NTIL the advent of the Hen- riques models, garments of leather found little or no favor —the penalty, uncouthness and dis- comfort, was too ^reat. The soft, pliable Danish leather allows a free- dom of action which the hard, stiff domestic leathers restrain. So that even rain may not penetrate nor affect the texture of the leather, a system of tanning has been devised which leaves it immune. This double-breasted coat, which is one of the most popular models that our stock affords, has stitched cuffs and collar, five pockets, two at the sides and one at the top with flaps, and two vertical pockets with shields. Over a strap of stitched leather on the right breast, the buttons are sewn. The tailoring is of a grade wholly foreign to the coats which are made in this country. GARMENT of this character makes one conscious of the superiority of the Danish sys- tem of tanning which leaves the leather light, elastic and full of life/' instead of heavy^ soggy and stiff which is characteristic of the Amer- ican leathers. The coat is tailored to follow the lines of the shoulders and chest; the skirt is the full fash- ioned bell form of extreme width but not without grace. On the right side a strap of stitched leather is applied upon which the buttons are sewn. The top and two side pockets have stitched flaps ; the vertical pockets, shields. The Henriques tailormen devote their entire time and talent to the fashioning of leather garments. O Strom's ingenuity we owe this model which may be converted from the conventional double- breasted lon^ coat into a short coat and trousers, by an arrangement of buttons which is as simple as it is clever. At the back the coat has a vent from the waist to the end of the skirt. The front on both sides is in the form of an ^ L/' which permits the skirt to pass between and around the limbs and button at the calf, thus converting the garment into a short coat and trousers. The straps at the wrists make it possible to draw them tight for protection from the wind and snow. The shawl collar, which is quite deep, buttons close at the throat. OR the most part, the new English short coats for the motor car are double-breasted effects. This coat is an adaptation (with certain desirable amendments) of one of the most favored of the foreign models. Across the front and back there is a V-shaped yoke which extends over the sleeves much after the manner of chevrons. At the wrists there are straps with ball-and-socket snaps which allow the sleeves to be drawn tight in extremely cold or windy weather. The storm collar has a strap with buttons with which to hold the collar closed at the throat, when turned up. The two pockets have wide stitched flaps. Even unto the most minor detail, the coat is tailored to insure not alone good service but a full measure of character and style as well. Length 2 4 to 2 8 inches, in sizes 34 to 44. a. ITH defined ideas of our own relative to the design of a leather coat^ we have fashioned this garment, the Danish leather of which we imported from Henriques. Across the back and front of the coat there is a stitched yoke, from which a series of plaits unfold that give to the body of the garment its extreme yet graceful fullness. The wide kimono sleeves, stitched in fancy designs, are over false half sleeves which begin above the elbows. Instead of buttons, the garment fastens with ball-and-socket snaps. The collar is liberally stitched. The features which contribute to the high character of the garment are these — it is made of entire skins instead of short pieces of leather (a condition which is only too often the fault in a leather- garment) and the tailoring, which expresses the full power of the tailorman^s craft. This single-breasted garment has a yoke back and front from which the skirt graduates making it of ample proportions. The deep collar has a tab and button attached with which to fasten it when turned up. Gathered at the shoulders the sleeves widen at the elbows and are finished with fancy cuffs which are liberally stitched. At the wrists the sleeves have fancy straps of leather with which they may be drawn ti^ht to exclude the dust and wind. IHE entire Henriques collection does not afford a full length ' leather coat for women. Rather than suffer our series of models to be incomplete^ we have designed this single-breasted fly-front coat for which the soft Danish leather was imported. To form a yoke, diamond shaped panels liberally stitched, encircle the coat at the breast from which two extremely wide plaits be^in both in the back and front. At the shoulders and wrists the sleeves are stitched in clever designs. The deep collar has two straps with buttons, which serve to protect the throat when the collar is turned up. The two vertical pock- ets are finished with stitched shields. Half way the extremely full skirt is elaborated with stitched panels of the same design as those at the breast.
