C Licensee of the “k Riley Loom Corporation Jt The World’s Genius in Weaving /£"^TRANGE as it may seem to those unfamiliar with the art of weaving, before the recent development of the Riley Diagonal-Strand Looms, every fabric ever woven on a loom, whether by power or by hand, was composed of strands extending in but two directions. As a result, every loom-woven fabric, whether of silk, cotton, wire or any other material, had been restricted since the earliest traces of civilized man to the limited range of patterns possible by the weaving together of just these two sets of strands, com¬ monly called warps and wefts. The efforts of countless millions of weavers, beginning thousands of years before the Christian era, had slowly contributed toward perfecting the present-day high-speed two-strand type of loom. But during the whole history of civilization they all had con¬ tinued their work within the narrow limitations of two-strand weaving. It remained for an American, an inventor of international repu¬ tation, to decide he would break down all the barriers and bring about a complete freedom of design, a freedom perpetual for all mankind—in this oldest and probably most influential industry in history. The complete basic patent control which he has but recently obtained throughout the entire world, covering the weaving of strands extending in more than two directions, and the high¬ speed automatic looms which he has created, form a fitting testi¬ monial of his genius, his determination—and his immeasurable success. 0 I IfSIl ’ ' ~ > ■ l ••• v - t Y, , ■ v k j / Ji'lj JJJ J Sfm- 4 /ji 1 m , / 1 Page two And An American Corporation / i| ^HE Metalace Corporation owns the right of weaving multi- strand grilles and all the multi-strand designs, throughout the United States, by virtue of its exclusive license cover¬ ing the weaving of metal under the entire Riley Loom patent de¬ velopment. As a result, all metal grilles sold in the United States in these multi-strand patterns are woven exclusively by the Metalace Corporation. Metalace is being used in practically all of the prominent build¬ ings now under construction throughout this country, together with a rather innumerable number of private residences and homes of moderate appointment all over the world. Metalace has now become the accepted standard throughout the industry for all types of concealed radiators and similar heating units. And, it is fast becoming the universal standard for warm- air registers and the various forms of wall-ventilation openings. In fact, it is used throughout both the architectural and manufac¬ turing fields, wherever grilles of inherent beauty are required. It is our earnest desire, wherever information or service on our part may be considered of value or assistance, that our Service Department be called on without hesitancy. SHIPPED IN ROLLS Metalace is shipped in rolls twenty-five, fifty or one hundred feet long (not painted or plated). The standard width is thirty-six inches. Due to its patented diagonal-strand construction, the strands in Metalace cannot become displaced—and it unrolls perfectly flat, showing no tendency to curl from being rolled. ALSO CUT TO SIZE If so desired, Metalace can be furnished cut to specified sizes and shapes all ready for installation. IMPORTANT Every form of metal must be thoroughly cleaned before painting—other¬ wise the paint will peel. Always specify that all metal shall be thoroughly cleaned with gasoline (or equally good cleanser) before painting. In specifying or in ordering Metalace, always state clearly—Metalace Grille No. — and whether steel or bronze is desired. SAMPLES Ask your local dealer for samples or write us direct. A World-Wide Reception Metalace is now being specified and used in the most prominent hotels, apartments and public buildings throughout this country and abroad— together with a rather innumerable number of private residences and homes of moderate appoint¬ ment. Immediate Delivery Metalace Grilles are carried in stock ready for immediate delivery by building supply, hardware and wire dealers throughout the country—thus eliminating the delays so often experienced in obtaining cast or special design grilles. Inherent Beauty Every pattern is furnished in either cold rolled steel or bronze—and of flat wire curved on one side. They all are of an inherent beauty which blends with the most exacting artistic require¬ ments. Free Air Capacity The high percentage of free air capacity in Metalace is readily apparent. Of Very Moderate Cost All Metalace Grilles are sold at prices consistent with high speed, automatic loom production. Rolls of Grille All patterns are furnished, unpainted, in long wide rolls which can be readily cut up into any desired size and shape of panels. Also Cut to Size If so desired, Metalace is furnished cut to speci¬ fied sizes and shapes all ready for installation. Easily Installed When used on wood construction, Metalace is ordinarily attached with staples and the edges covered with moulding—and when on metal it is spot-welded, soldered, brazed or clamped in posi¬ tion according to usual methods. Finishing Metalace in cold rolled steel wire is very beauti¬ ful when painted or lacquered. Magnificent results may be obtained by plating in copper, bronze, brass, nickel, cadmium, zinc, silver or gold. The various patterns when woven in bronze of course require no further treatment, though through oxidizing they acquire an antique finish of an unusually rich appearance. Concealed Radiators Grille No. 10 has already become the standard everywhere for concealing built-in radiators—and it is standard equipment for practically every radiator enclosure manufacturer throughout the country. Ideating and Ventilating Metalace has proved particularly adapted for warm air registers and the many forms of wall ventilation. Its genuine woven construction is immediately appreciated wherever installed. Screen Door Guards Unsightly or inappropriate screen doors can ruin an entire building’s appearance. Metalace in its various flat wire designs affords the opportunity for really beautiful screen door guards. Bronze grille is usually preferable—and the Metalace Grille number should always be specified. Unlimited Uses Today, Metalace is used throughout all parts of architectural construction. And it is used by most widely diversified types of manufacturers. In fact, it is now a universal necessity wherever genuine grille of intrinsic beauty is appreciated. The Architect’s Opinion One of the most prominent architects recently said, “Metalace is certainly a revelation in archi¬ tecture. Heretofore, every architect and builder had no other course than to use the perforated sheet metal patterns, or else specify the expensive cast and other specially ordered grilles. The intro¬ duction of Metalace has revolutionized the whole grille situation.” Metalace Diagonal Strand Grilles are now being used wherever the expensive types of cast grilles were formerly considered necessary—and where per¬ forated, stamped and other sheet metal imitations are no longer considered.
