We manufacture to order a variety of work on which it is impossible to quote prices until we know the quantity, quality, style and size required. For all such work we will give special estimates. In ordering, be careful always to give each article its proper name or number, the number of catalogue, as well as " the page on which it is shown. The improvement consists in a beaded lock on the edge of the letters, so that they can be joined together, thereby enabling you to form any Word, Name or Address, and, after being used for that purpose, they can be distributed and formed again for another address, and so on continually, while a common stencil plate can only be used for one certain brand. By having a font of these Stencils, you can address Packages, make Signs, Show Cards, etc., etc. The Letters, when joined, are perfectly level on the under side, and are accurately spaced, so that when an impression is taken the print is phrfect. They are unquestionably the cheapest and most convenient invention ever made — the most practicable thing for Shippers in marking merchandise, for manufacturers in marking brands on boxes and for shipping purposes, for Merchants and Real Estate men in making sign cards-and bulletin boards, for Millers, Distillers and Wholesale Liquor Dealers in brand¬ ing barrel heads,L'etc., and for Farmers and Planters in marking implements, bags, robes, etc. For Plow Factories, Wagon Makers and Cheese Factories they are almost indispensable and they will prove a great benefit and time-saver to everybody. They are put up in fonts, correctly assorted as to vowels, consonants, periods, $ and % marks, etc. Made in six sizes only, viz : inch, % inch, % inch, i inch, i inch, 2 inch and inch. Outfit same as above, substituting i inch caps, lower case and set of figures.. i 50 Outfit same as above, substituting i inch caps and set of figures.... i 00 These letters are so arranged on strips of sheet brass that the most inexperienced person can do the printing neatly and in less than half the time occupied wiih the old style alphabets. The letters, though inch high, will contain more words in a given space than the ordinary one-inch machine-cut alphabets in general use. Having been designed expressly for the purpose for which they are advertised, we feel confident they will meet with general favor from all who may have occasion to use them. The Northern Christian Advocate of Jan. 21, 1886, says : “The capacity of this device is unlimited. By it the superintendent can print a new song and put it before the school; he can print a pre-view of a quarter’s lessons or a review scheme when the quarter ends ; he can make an opening Scripture service and hang it up to command every eye ; he can print the Apostle's Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, the Ten Commandments, or if he has time and patience he can put the whole Catechism on a roll of calendered manila paper to be unrolled, question by question, and memorized. 'W'e pronounce it the desideratum for the purposes for which it was designed and believe many superintendents will gladly avail themselves of it.’’ 10 S. W. Reese & Co., ICO Fulton Street, New York. Reese’s Stencil Ink. Seyen Boy’s Puzzle. “It seems strange that in cities like New York and Brooklyn, people do n<'t carry their names and addresses in their clothing, so that in case of accident or sudden death they may be identified. It would save im¬ mense trouble, expense and anxiety, and be only the right and proper thing to do after all. Yet, it is rarely_ the case that those picked up in the streets ill, or that persona drowned or injured by accident have any writing about them that would identify them. A little care would save complicated mysteries, and restore many a missing body to friends. Particularly should this be the case with children, and with those who are likely to be out at unseasonable hours.”— Brooklyn Eagle. Metal Checks stamped with name and address, are better than writing or marking of any kind. They are fire proof under ordinary circumstances and have repeatedly been the only means by which bodies could be identified that were taken from the ruins of fires. There is an Impression, Quite Prevalent, among business men, that should checks, drawn by them, on their bank, be raised, and successfully negotiated, that THEY WOULD NOT BE LIABLE, but the LOSS WOULD FALL ON THE BANK. But the higher courts have rendered decisions as follows, touching this point: “ The MAKER of a check is OBLIGED TO USE ALL DUE VIGILENCE IN PROTECTING IT. THE OMISSION TO USE THE MOST EFFECTUAL PROTECTION AGAINST ALTERATION, is evidence of NEGLECT which RENDERS HIM RESPONSIBLE for the FRAUDULENT AMOUNT, the BANK BEING RESPONSIBLE, ONLY, for the GENUINENESS of the SIGNATURE and ORDINARY CARE in PAYING the check.” Authorities such as Daniels, Morse, Bolles, Commercial Precedents. Benj. Chalmers, 4th Bing., and others, clearly define, that in the absence of any suspicious condition, the MAKER IS LIABLE, and this applies to BUSINESS MEN as well as banks. “With the responsibility lim¬ ited to the facts within their knowledge, the practice, imposes no burden on the banks. —Court of Appeals. For simplicity and excellence of construction, ease of opera¬ tion, durability, and clean, perfect work, not only has this punch no equal on the market, but that is the only machine which in all respects fills the bill. The Crown Rubber Stamp Press FOR RRIISTTHSTG Patented Feb. 14, 1888. This cut represents the latest and most perfect working Printing Press in the mar¬ ket, being far superior in every respect to any of the Presses yet introduced for print¬ ing with Rubber Stamps, Solid Rubber, or Metal-Bodied Rubber Type. It is handsomely finished and ornamented, and as its Die Plate (to which the stamps or forms are attached hy clamps) e.xtends its entire width, a uniforrri bearing is secured upon the entire stamp instead of on the centre only, no matter how large or small, while the double arms on each side hold it firmly in position. Its motion con¬ sists in simply dropping the handle from the Ink Pad to the Paper ; no other pressure being required. Its durable construction (without springs of any kind), together with its simplicity of action enables even a child to produce work equal in every respect to that done on the most improved Steam Presses, without the possibility of making an imperfect or bad impression. Its elevated Ink Pad admits the passing of paper under it, either lengthwise or sidewise, thus enabling the operator to place his impression in any position desired. An important feature in connection with the Press is its adjustable gauges for holding the paper firmly in position. The device used is simple and absolutely perfect. Each Press is provided with a dove-tailed box with sliding cover, containing ; 1 Set Nickel Plated Gauges, 5 Nickel Plated damps, t Iren Ink Pad, t Ink Distributer. micE. Reese & Co., 160 Fulton Street, New York. Our Stencil Cutting Outfit Will Enable any Shipping Clerk to Cut all the Shipping Mark Stencils Needed, and will therefore Save Time and Money. Every well-regulated manufacturing concern making sliipments should have a complete set of our cast cast-steel Stencil Dies, for cutting ship¬ ping plates, and thereby Avoid Frequent Errors in Marking. There are no instructions necessary to enable any one to cut stencils with the>e dies, except that the block upon which the siencils are cut should rest on a solid bench and should be kept smooth by being planed off when occasion re¬ quires. Only a sufficiently hard blow to cut the letter should be struck with the mallet. Ry observing these rules a set of our stencil dies will last for years, and many hundred dollars worth of stencils may be cut with them. We offer a complete outfit, a good representation of which is seen in the cut, consisting of a set of Stencil Dies, put in a substantial box, a Block, a Mallet, Compass, Rule and six sheets of Oil Stencil Board. Reese & Co., 160 Fulton Street, New York 67 The Gem Key Check Outfit consists of one set of one-sixteenth inch Steel Letters and Figures; one Steel Hammer ; one Polished Steel Block on which the checks are laid while being stamped; ten German Silver Oval Eagle Key Checks, and twenty- five small Steel Rings by which the checks can be attached to large Key Ring. All the above neatly arranged in a compact case. People should carry their names and addresses in their clothing so that in case of accident or sudden death they may be identified. It would save immense trouble, expense and anxiety. Yet it is rarely the case that those picked up in the streets, or that persons drowned or injured by accident, have any writing about them that would identify them. A little care would save complicated mysteries and restore many a missing body to friends. A German Silver Key Check with name and address is proof against fire and water, and serves the purpose of restoring valuable keys when lost, and is also a means of identification in case of accident. With our $ 5.00 outfit any boy can learn to stamp names and addresses neatly in a short time. The blank checks cost but two cents each and will sell readily when stamped with name and address at twenty-five cents. MANUFACTURED BY S. W. REESE & CO., 160 Fulton Street, New York. 68 S. W. Reese & Co., 160 Fulton Street, New York. American Printing Wheels. These Wheels are made for use where large printing dies are required, and are especially adapted for use on wrapping paper. They are furnished in five si^es and will print as per dimensions given below. Being self-inking, they can be used very rapidly, the ink being supplied to the printing die by two ink rollers as shown in cut. They roll from the operator and stop after the full impression is taken, and spring back automatically to the original position, a feature not embodied in other styles, and one which insures a ])erfect inking of the printing die, as the die is inked while taking an impression, and is inked again when the wheel is returning to its original position.
