HE Bungalow is not a new idea, having originated when the English Army in¬ vaded India in the Eighteenth Century and it became necessary to provide comfortable living quarters for its officers, and although many changes have taken place within the past two hundred years, the Bungalow still remains. The idea has been transplanted into other countries, and in these United States California must have the credit of first appreciating the true Bungalow to its fullest extent, and no style of architecture ever merited its rise in public favor more surely than the Bungalow modernized to meet the require¬ ments of a progressive people, and it is fast being recognized as the most homelike, com¬ fortable and convenient manner of living ever conceived along the lines of simplicity and health. In the eastern portion of this country there are isolated examples of the Bungalow, but few of the real type, a one-story house. Many methods are employed in their construction, but no one has ever attempted a Portable Bungalow until the inventor of these now being built by the BiUings-Steven Company.
