HIS expresses the current idea in regard to this important and remark-
able preparation. Important, because it relates to the health and lives of
millions of children ;— remarkable, because it does what it promises to do.
More than one-third of all children born, die before they are five years old. Every
one of those who live, is sometimes sick. How important that Infants and Children
should have a proper remedy at the proper time Castoria has been proved to be
the proper remedy. It is a vegetable prescription for Infants ami Children formulated '
by the eminent Dr. Pitcher nearly thirty years ago. It was Intended as a substitute for
the dangerous opium preparations, like paregorie, laudanum drops, cordials, and
so-called soothing syrups, once so generally given to children, the effects oi which were
to stupefy them. This formula was given to the public, and is in print around each
bottle. It met the approval of advanced physicians of all schools It is absolutely
harmless. The j>atronage of Castoria has l>een unprecedented. Its present sale is at
the rate of about 27,000,000 bottles per annum. Where does it go/ It goes
everywhere. It is sold throughout America, EuNglBj Asia, Africa, and the Islands
§ of the oceans. Such results could only attach to an honest, reliable, exceptionable
article ;— to one that invites criticism ; one which has stood the test of time, and
one which lias been handed down from mother to daughter.
When baby was sick we grave her Castoria.
When she was a child, she cried for Castori.i.
When she became Miss, she clung to Castoria.
When Ehe had Children, she gave them Cahloria

The Babies.
Baby Wants Castoria.
NFANT mortalit y is some-
thing frightful. We can
hardly realize that of all the
children born in civilized countries,
twenty-two per cent., or nearly one-
quarter, die before they reach one
year ; thirty-seven per cent. , or more
than one-third, before they are five,
and one-half before they are fifteen !
Empty cradles, mothers weeping;
Fathers toiling, hearts are breaking;
Sisters lonely, darlings calling;
Brothers waiting, silence reigning.
We do not hesitate to say that a timely use of Castoria w r ould save a majority of
these precious lives. Neither do we hesitate to say that many of these infantile deaths
are occasioned by the use of narcotic preparations. All the drops, tinctures and
syrups sold for childrens' complaints are composed principally of opium or morphine.
They are, in considerable quantities, deadly poisons. In any quantity, they stupefy,
retard circulation, and lead to congestions, sickness, death.
ASTORIA operates exactly the reverse. It causes the blood to circulate
properly, opens the pores of the skin and allays fevers. Then the child sleeps.
He gets well. This is the way Castoria acts.
What Will It Do ?
It will do many things. It will do them quicker, better, and more thoroughly than any
i other formula known to the medical profession.
Castoria cures Colic, Constipation,
Sour Stomach, Diarrhoea, Eructation,
Gives healthy sleep, and promotes digestion,
Without injurious medication.
Flatulency, Sour Stomach, Wind Colic :— Cure, Castoria and bath.
i Thrush or Apthea — White pimples around child's mouth and mother's nipples :— Cure,
Castoria and good bathing.
Prickly Heat and Scurf :— Cure, Castoria, spare diet and bathing.
Milk Crust — White pustules, dark crust, sore eyes :— Cure, Castoria and warm bathing.
Hives and Nettie-Rash — Light diet ; Castoria and tepid baths.
Indigestion — Constipation :— Castoria, warm bath. Cure absolute.
C olic — Worms — Castoria, extra quantity ; bathe and rub
Diarrhoea— Belching wind :— Castoria, rest, cold bathing.
HESE are some of the things Castoria will do. But during
Teething,
when the child is from C to 30 months' old, the effects of Castoria are most happy and
remarkable. It soothes pain, it allays fever, it prevents congestion. Very hot baths
are not to be neglected in case of congestion.

What Castoria did for Mrs. Fearis' Twins-
* 4
\
No. 1388 Ninth Avenue,
Nkw York, May 19, 188T.
Y little twins, Walter and Eva, were seven months old when this photograph was
taken, and they weighed fourteen and sixteen pounds respectively. They are the pride
of the neighborhood. Their uniform good health and cheerfulness 1 attribute to the
free use of Castoria. They never cry, and are perennial blessings." MRS. W. FEARIS.
"Harmless and Reliable."
Dr. J. N. Kincheloe, of Conwav, Ark., w rites :— " I rejoice to know that a remedy for
children bas been Introduced whtcn is harmless and reliable. All morphine drops and syrups
are absolutely dangerous. I prescribe Castoria regularly. Any mother can administer it
without fear.
There are 2,300,000
O RES on the whin of every baby, child ami adult. More than one-half the
food consumed by us Li finally Ubejrsjted through these porei In the shape of
r„ Invisible perspiration. When the pores ave clogged by this offensive paste,
several ounces i»er day of elfete, decaying substance is driven Into the system, there to
putrefy and poison t he vict im. It stands to reason that unless these pores are kept
op< n ; fevers, laves, constipation or diarrhu-a, or sickness of some kind must follow.
Frequent bathing and rubbing is of more importance than medicine ; but when
bathing hits been neglected, and drooping or sickness occurs with the little ones, give
them CaMtorin at once. Prompt action may wive a s|>ell of sickness ; it may wive the
child 1 ! Ufa Castoria warms the system; it relieves the congestion and opens the
pores of t he skin so that invisible perspirat ion resumes its work. Sickness is caused by
clewing the pores of the skin as ipiickly as it is by closing the bowels. This should not
be forgotten. If all mothers knew the value of Castoria as some of them do, it would
save two thirds of infant sickness, and reduce infant mortality one half.

Mullin says : —
" I certify that little Robbie Hale
of 466 Portland avenue, St. Paul, was
a thin crying baby from his birth
until he was given Castoria. He
began to improve from the first week's
trial. Has taken 13 bottles ; is per-
fectly well ; weighed 30 pounds the
day he was seven months old, and
when this picture was taken. Robbie's
changed condition has caused many
mothers to use Castoria. It is the
best thing for babies I have ever
known. 11

Catarrh was pronounced incurable until
the treatment of Wei De Meyer was intro-
duced.
How his trousers were spotted no one can tell,
But he made them look new by using Zymel.
If a man who turnips cries, cries not when
his father dies, is this a proof that he thinks
more of a turnip than he did of his father ?
Why was Adam's first day the longest?
Because there was no Eve.
When did Absalom sleep five iu a bed ?
When he slept with his forefathers.
Bob and cousin Sue crept down the lane,
Tempting harvest apples for to steal —
That night they yelled with stomach pain
And threw up half their stolen meal.
Next day the doctor was by Bob's side —
But Castoria was given Sue ;
Alas poor Bob, he quickly died
And well, by his grave, wept Cousin Sue.

Because there will not be a damned soul

Mothers Do You Know
HAT paregoric, Bateman's Drops, Godfrey's Cordial,
many so-called soothing syrups, and most remedies for
children, are composed of opium or morphine ?
Do You Know that opium and morphine are stupefy-
ing, narcotic poisons ?
Do Yon Know that in most countries druggists are not
permitted to sell narcotics, without labeling them poisons ?
Do Yon Know that you should not permit any medicine to be given your child
unless you or your physician know of what it is composed ?
Do Yon Know that Castoria is a purely vegetable preparation, and that a list of
its ingredients is published with every bottle ?
Do Yon Know that Castoria is the prescription of the famous Dr. Samuel
Pitcher. That it has been in use for nearly thirty years, and that more Castoria is now
sold than of all other remedies for children combined ?
Do Yon Know that the Patent Office Department of the United States and of
other countries have issued exclusive right to Dr. Pitcher and his assigns to use the
word " Castoria " and its formula, and chat to imitate them is a state prison offense ?
Do Yon Know that one of the reasons for granting this government protection
was because Castoria had been proven to be absolutely harmless ?
Do Yon Know that 35 average doses of Castoria are furnished for 35 cents,
or one cent a dose ?
Do Yon Know that when possessed of this perfect preparation, your children
may be kept well, and that you may have unbroken rest ?
Well , these things are worth knowing. They are facts.
The Thirty-Pound Baby.
The proudest, best woman the world ever saw,
Was Mrs. Sophrano Zebulon Shaw,
Who had an eight months' old thirty-pound boy,
Which made her as proud as a mother of Troy.
This good mother thought a prize she'd obtain
For her modern Marc Mundas Antonia ;
But alas ! the prize she'd so hoped to gain
Went to the twins who cried for Castoria.
What Is It?

A man has a bag of corn, a fox and a goose
to transfer across a river. His boat is only
large enough for himself and one at a time of
his possessions. How does he manage so
that the goose will not eat the corn or the fox
the goose ?

One of the first lessons taught at the many
fashionable cookery schools is : " Never stir
the hash with one hand and smooth the hair
with the other. 11
Snuffles are com^ifetely done away with by
the use of Wei De Meyer's Catarrh Cure.

Castoria is to mothers added -wealth,
For it gives them rest and their baby's health.
Is life worth living ? Depends upon the liver.

What was it a blind man took at breakfast

What of Such Twins as These!
No. 1629 Lexington Avenue,
New York, July 20, 1887.
HIS is a picture of my boy twins, Charlie and Willie, taken when they were five and
a half months old. They weighed sixteen pounds each. They have never been sick,
because I have brought them up on Castoria. Thinking that you would be pleased
to see two such cherubs, I send you their pictures." MRS. HERMINE SCHULZE.
Some Weil-Known Editors say
Chillicothe, O., April 23, 1887. " Castoria has no doubt saved me much sleep and many
midnight parades." Signed (?) Hasper & Hunter.
"Our Little Children."
No institution in the United States is better known for the good done orphan children
than the St. Ann's Infant Asylum, No. 1236 North Tenth St., St. Louis, Mo. The following
is what its matron says of the wonderful Castoria.
St. Louis, April 30th, 1886.
Gentlemen : — " We find Castoria an admirable remedy for our little children. Using a
great deal of it, we desire to purchase at the wholesale price, which please send us. Receive
the thanks of SISTER ANN FRANCES."
How Baby Fooled Them ,
Baby cried; that seemed to be his vocation ;
But we doctored him for colic, diarrhoea,
Sour stomach, nettle-rash, worms, constipation,
Teething— and each infantile adversary.
We gave him soothing syrups, paregoric,
Bateman's Drops, Godfrey's Cordial and panacea ;
Searched for pins, thought of imps, of things satanic ;
'Twas only one more child crying for Castoria.
Children Cry for Pitcher's Castoria.

" The honeymoon is all well enough," said a
Erudent belle ; " but what I yearn for is the
arvest moon."
The naked truth— a bear story.
On entering, always let your lady precede
you.
On leaving, never mistake a silk umbrella
for your cotton one.
By all pursuits by man invented,
Tne farmer's is the best contented.
His profits good, his calling high,
And on his labors, all rely.
Dr. F. W. Wei De Meyer, 77 Murray St.,
New York, will guarantee to cure Catarrh.
"My clothes look like new," said John to his
belle.
"You're a fraud," said Jane, "I think it's
Zjmel.
Why doesn't the devil skate ? How— in hell
—can he.
It is a fact there is no " may be,"
A mother's milk can't save the baby,
While sweet Castoria digests their food,
Gives them health and makes them good.
An instantaneous pain reliever — Centaur
Liniment.
" That's the end of my tale," as the tadpole
said when he turned into a bullfrog.
A little kiss, a little bliss, a little ring ; it's
ended. A little jaw, a little law, and lo ! the
bonds are rended.
Man is sixty-five per cent water, and rail-
roads are seventy -five per cent water.
Teacher — " Who was the strongest man ?"
Boy — " Jonah, because the whale couldn't hold
him after he got him down.
Pray tell us ladies if you can,
Who is that highly favored man,
Though he's married many a wife,
May be a bachelor all his life ?
A Clergyman.

One Baby causes joy, Twins pride, while Triplets are the envy
of all Mothers.
New York, May 23, 1887.
To the Proprietors of Castoria -"I send you photographs of my famous triplets — two boys
and one girl. At first they were sickly, but I gave them plenty of Castoria, and now they are
fat and healthy. They are only two months and three days old, and weigh 8, 8b and 9 pounds
respectively. Beat this who can. 1 '' MRS. MARY KLINGNER, 72Q Cortland Ave.

pastrys, gravys, greens, spices, or acids, nor
drink strong tea, coffee, beer or spirits. These
things will not assimilate with an infant's food. They
destroy the digestive fluid known as ptyaline, and
instead of converting the food into nutrition, it is
curdled and soured. This produces colic, flatulency,
diarrhoea or constipation. Then follow fevers, erup-
tions or sickness of some kind. At such times Castoria
will destroy the acidity and correct the difficulty.

Everybody asks what is Zymel,
Soiled clothes made new the story tell.
Nature accommodates herself to the circum-
stances of the people. Who ever heard of a

When was beef the highest ? When the cow

Good Babies.
'Tis a jolly day from East to West,
For children thrive, and mothers rest,
The darling girls all named Victoria,
And with the boys, they have Castoria.
If twice eleven are twenty-two, how can
twice ten be twenty too.

How doctors physicked by the hour.

Why Mrs. Tubbs Kicked.
It
EN strike with their fists. Sometimes they swear, but they seldom
kick. To disconsolate women is left a monopoly of kicking.
They do not kick men, they kick the floor. Mrs. Tubbs was a
kicking woman. This picture represents her in the act.
She had sung " Lully by baby." She had repeated Mother Goose's
Stories. She had tried paregoric, Godfrey's Cordial, and soothing syrups.
They were all of no use. Baby still cried. She tried praying. It was a
failure. He cried the harder.
Mrs. Tubbs had carried that baby in her arms by turns for months. She had rocked him
in the cradle. She undid his clothes for the fortieth time to see if a pin pricked him She
employed doctors. Still that baby cried the louder.
He had kept it up for four long weeks. He was getting thin. Mrs.
Tubbs thought her baby would die. This was the way he looked. It was
dreadful. Mrs. Tubbs was nearly crazy. She was almost dead. She
cried. Then she wrung her hands. Then she pulled her hair. Then
she kicked.
She believed there was nothing in this wide world that would cure
her sick baby. Her mother told her so. It looked just that way.
She did not know that there was one remedy that would cure her baby.
A remedy that digests babies 1 food. It was indigestion ailed her baby.
Belching gas like a steam engine. Vomiting sour curd like a hen
pigeon. Drawn into knots with colic, and still Mrs. Tubbs did not know that milk had soured
on baby's stomach !
Mrs. Tubbs is au educated lady with a large heart and a pretty fair sized foot. Singular
that she did not know of Castoria. which has been curing sick and crying babies for 30 years.
But this was Mrs. Tubbs' first baby.
That night another mother across the street heard the doleful cry. In the midnight dark-
ness Mrs. Smith carried poor Mrs. Tubbs some of her baby's Castoria. Just as soon as the
Tubbs baby had swallowed a few drops of the Smith baby's Castoria, he was as quiet as a
lamb.
That's just the way Castoria acts. It has the knack of curing children. It always cures
them. It cures quickly. They like it. It gives them health. It gives them sleep. Mrs. Tubbs
will never kick again. She now believes in Castoria.
K. Norman P. Little, of Columbus, Conn., and widely known throughout the Eastern
States, says :— " My family of eight children have been given Castoria. I prescribe
and recommend^ts use in preference to any formula known to me."
H. A. Archer, an eminent physician of No. Ill South Oxford Street, Brooklyn, N. Y.,
says: — "Castoria is so well adapted to the derangements of infants and children, that I
recommend it as superior to any other known remedy."
Rev. Dr. Pope, well acquainted with Dr. Pitcher, says : — 11 1 have used Dr. Pitcher's
Castoria in my family, and cheerfully bear testimony to its being all that is claimed for it."
Mr. J. M. Gordon, writes from Buffalo Gap, Dakota :—" Have just removed here from
York State, and have had to send fifty miles for some Castoria and Centaur Liniment. No
living on the ranch without Castoria."
Mrs. E. C. Gildersleeve, an experienced nurse, residing at No. 402 Atlantic Ave., Brooklyn,
N.Y., says:— "I have used Castoria in numerous cases for babies of 4 weeks old and upwards,
with most wonderful effects."
Dresden, Germany, April 1, 1887.
" I have pleasure to inform you that Castoria is the most popular article in all Germany.
Every one thinks highly of it."
George Bauman, Chemist, 2 Prager Strasse, Dresden.
Dr. J. N. Kincheloe, of Conway, Ark., writes :—" I rejoice to know that a remedy for
children has been introduced which is harmless and reliable. All morphine drops and syrups
are absolutely dangerous. I prescribe Castoria regularly. Any mother can administer it
without fear." »

Rheumatism can be cured by Centaur
Liniment.
Why is a woman with wit like a telegraph
message ? Because she is always ahead of
male intelligence.

Disagreeable.
HEUMATISM, Sciatica, Lumbago,
and pain in the back, are not desirable compan-
ions. We want to be rid of them, without
trifling: They usually hang on until death. There is one
thing that will quickly exterminate Rheumatism, Sciatica,
Lumbago and Pain in the Back. That thing is Centaur
Liniment.
Burns, Scalds and Scars are not exactly agreeable ; burns and scalds can't be pre-
vented, but scars from them can be prevented, and so can the swellings, the pains and the sores.
Centaur Liniment will surely and quickly remove the pain, heal the sores and prevent
their leaving scars.
A Sprained Ankle, Knee or Hip is decidedly disagreeable. Anything of the kind is
awfully annoying. It prevents the owner from chopping wood and from dancing a hornpipe.
Besides it is painful and makes one cross. For such unwelcome visitors, Centaur Liniment
is not only a certain cure— it is a speedy cure.
What is more annoying: than a spavined and lame horse. We may go to Church
and pick strawberries on foot, but we can't plow the garden or draw a load of wood without a
horse. A first-class sprain may last a year— it may last while the horse lives. But it may be
cured in a very few days. Centaur Liniment— yellow wrapper— is curing lame and galled
horses all the time. It has been doing it for twenty years. It is the best thing for lame horses
ever devised by man.
Inflammatory Rheumatism and Gout ! What can be worse ? Fingers drawn
into corkscrews ; the feet bundled up like cannon swabs ; the body bent double and every
nerve jumping like the toothache. We don't believe that any one likes Inflammatory Rheuma-
tism or Gout, still many persons have them and they needn't have them. Centaur Liniment
will cure Inflammatory Rheumatism and Gout. It will cure them quickly. We do not know of
any other remedy that will absolutely exterminate either Inflammatory Rheumatism or Gout.
There is no question about it, Centaur Liniment has come to stay. It is what
the world has been long in need of. Something that will subdue inflammation, heal wounds,
limber stiff joints and cure lameness. The lame, the crippled and rheumatic sufferers all
agree, that remedies are many, but that there is only one real, absolute and quick cure. We
want to be cured— not trifled with. Centaur Liniment will cure.
Otherwise Crippled for Life.
£lias Bowly was thrown from his horse, breaking one rib and so terribly bruis-
ing him that he was unable to leave his bed for several weeks. He says: "I should
have died, or been a cripple for life, had it not been for the Centaur Liniment."

Gentlemen : — " You shall have mine tanks. My vrow she has been aching and sufferin' very
bad mit pains all up her back and in both her legs for more nor 4 years. We tried 3, 4, and 5
goot doctors here and in Philadelfy. It was no goot. I take her to Turkish baths, which helps
a leetle. I then take her to Germany, and bath her 5 months in Weisbaden. We comes back here
and uses many tings. She was all the time pretty near the same. Den we hear of Centaur
Liniment. We tried em. She git better. We keep trying em. She get well. No more
rheumatiz, no more pain. Six dollars, only did it cost to cure her complete. Six
thousand dollars had I paid before I knoed about this great Centaur Liniment. You
has mine tanks." CARLOS WILLMS.

Y mother has suffered terribly with Rheumatism for sixteen years. Of late she
has been paralyzed on one side. No one thought she would ever be able to
walk again, as she is seventy-four years of age. She has been using the
Centaur Liniment for a few weeks, and now she can talk and walk
tolerably weU. I think that your Liniment deserves all the praise it has received.'"

ILEY Hancc . on his oath says : " That for the last ten years he has been severely
afflicted with Rheumatism, and has been for the last six years entirely helpless, inso-
much that he could hardly move, and had given up all hopes of ever being helped. And
deponent further says that about five months ago, he commenced the use of Centaur
Liniment, which has produced wonderful results, and that he now feels almost as well as ever.
Considering my advanced age, 67 years, I think the result a miracle. 11 RILEY HANCE

ENTLEMEN :— "You certainly have the most efficacious remedy I have ever seen. I
have suffered with Sciatica so that I could not get out of the house at times,
for several years. To say that I doctored and tried remedies does not express it. When
I saw the Centaur Liniment advertised I went for it. I have now used three bot-
tles, and can walk without the aid of my cane. I am improving daily. 11

One rib was broken, one hand was crushed, my body was terribly lacerated,

limbs were greatly swollen, and I was in terrible agony. Centaur Liniment was brought in

hour's time the pain had ceased, the inflammation gradually disappeared, and the
swellings went down. The second day I was entirely comfortable and have not suffered since I
commenced with this Liniment. Its effects are the most remarkable of anything I ever saw ;

" Saturdays I shall go to market with you,"
said the lady. " But who's goin to carry the
basket the other days, mum,"" replied Bridget.
A young man of slender salary, should marry
a girl of small waste.
" What is the matter with the fallen angels,
mamma," said the little girl. " Couldn'tthey
make their wings work ?"

write ine, she's dead for a long time," replied

Mother's milk can't save the baby,

Mary had a sweet little doll,
With eyes the kind that shut,
And rosy cheeks like other dolls,
And gloves on its hands ;— but
When round its dainty waist she felt,
And touched a hidden spring,
It warbled underneath its belt ;
"I'm sawdust when I sing."

Why is it
HAT so much is said of Wei De Meyer's Catarrh Cure ? Be
cause Catarrh is a prevalent, loathsome disease. Because
formerly it Avas deemed to be incurable. Because it does abso-
cure Catarrh. Because in almost every hamlet in the civilized
Because thousands
tutely
world there is some person who has been cured by it
of well known persons make such statements as the following :
Statue of Liberty, ... . . _ . . . _
.330 feet high. Vice-President of the United States Cured.
Vice-President William A. "Wheeler was a great sufferer from Catarrh. Fre-
quently he was unable to preside in the Senate Chamber. He employed the most eminent
physicians and used popular remedies, but without benefit. After yeans of humiliation and
torture, he was induced to try Wei De Meyer's great remedy, which, after a few
months, completely cured and restored him to health. Mr. Wheeler resided at Malone, N. Y.
He assured us of the above facts and gladly verified them to everyone.
Rev. Charles J. Jones says:
"I was attacked with Catarrhal symptoms some four years ago. It gained upon me,
although I tried many remedies. I feared I would, have to bring ray ministry to a
close, and the relief I experienced from the first box of Wei De Meyer's was worth ten
times the price. I conduct several services a week, speaking and singing at each. My relief
is so great that I would not be without your Catarrh Cure at a.uy cost.' 1
REV. CHAS. J. JONES, New Brighton, S. I.
"An Object of Loathing and Disgust."
D. G. 3IcKeJvay, Esq., U. S. Government Inspector ; residence, 158 15th St., Brooklyn,
N. Y., writes : —
" My sufferings from Catan-h for over four years were indescribable. My taste and smell
were entirely gone : the virus ate through from my left nostril to my cheek ; my voice was
affected : my health was undermined ; 1 could not breathe through my nostrils ; my breath was
terribly offensive, and I felt myself an object of loathing and disgust. By the final use of
Wei De Meyer's wonderful discovery, the formation of mucous ceased, my taste and smell
were restored, my appetite returned, and I was perfectly cured. It is now over three
years, and I have had no return of any Catarrhal symptom.'" D q McKELVAY
"Too Deaf to Hear the Church Bells Ring."
21 John St., Newport, R. L, Feb. 18, 1880. .
Messrs. Casswell. Massey & Co., Druggists. " When I commenced using Wei De Meyer's
Catarrh Cure, my hearing was so much impaired that I could not hear the church bells ring.
Thanks to Dr. Wei De Meyer. I am now able to hear ordinary conversation. I recommend the
Cure to all persons afflicted with Catarrhal deafness." 1 Cjj ^ STANHOPE
A Minister's Wife Nearly Deaf .
Clarksville, Albany Co., N. Y., Feb. 18, 1880.
" Mj* wife had Catarrh in its worst form, so that she became nearly deaf ; she is deriving
great benefit from Wei De Meyer's Cure. Please send me six packages more as soon as possible.
The Cure is working wonders for my wife."' REV. W. O. TOWER, Pastor M. E. Church.
"Radically Cured."
Rev. Chas. H. Taylor, Pastor of the Noble Street Church. Brooklyn. N. Y., writes :
"I have suffered for several years from Catarrh, and have tried many remedies without
benefit. I have used one box of Wei De Meyer's Compound and am radically cured."

w Why did you pass yesterday without look-
ing at me ?" said a beautiful lady to Talley-
rand. " Because, madame, if I had looked I
could not have passed."
Earn money before you spend it.
Jack—" We're very proud of our ancestry,
you know." Tom— "Yes, I know; but how
would your ancestry feel about you ?"
If you intend to do a mean thing, wait till
to-morrow. If you are going to do a noble
thing, do it now.
"Wei De Meyer's Treatise on Catarrh is
mailed gratis to anybody.
Jane's shawl was ruined I am sorry to tell,
But ma restored it completely by using
Zymel.
When was currency first circulated ? When
the dove brought the green-back to Noah.
When were the first sweetmeats made ?
When Noah preserved (pairs) pears in the ark.
Our baby Bell was cross and sick,
Perhaps 'twas worms that ailed her ;
We sent for Dr. Johnson— quick,
But Castoria 'twas that cured her.
" Who is whistling in school," said the
teacher. " Me," said the new scholar. "Didn't
you know I could whistle."

This Plate
ILLUSTRATES how poisonous Catarrhal Mucous in the
Nasal Cavities communicate with the eyes : with the drum of
the ear ; with the stomach and with the bronchial tubes, lungs
and vital organs. Through these processes Catarrhal virus<\indermines
the entire system, and becomes a fruitful source of Deafness, Polypus,
Weak Eyes, Bronchitis, Leucorrhoea and Consumption. Wei De Meyer's
treatment, absorbs Catarrhal virus ; it kills the poisonous sporules ; it cures
Catarrh ; it prevents many other diseases.
Symptoms of Catarrh,
1st. Snuffling, Sneezing, Watery Eyes, Disgusting Expectoration,
with Intermittent pains, by the sides of nose, back of head, and
over the eyes. 2d. Head seems to crackle and spin ; hearing
suddenly ceases upon blowing the nose ; buzzing noises and spurts of thin mucous upon
the tonsils, or from the nostrils.
3d. Taste, Smell and Hearing Impaired ; stopping of one nostril ; hawking greenish
mucous ; dry scales in nostrils. 4th. Nostrils closed ; breathing through lips ; distressed
snoring ; discharge copious and offensive ; much Swallowing of mucous while asleep.
5th. Foetid and Sickening breath ; watery stars floating before the eyes ; throat
and lungs sore in morning. Weakening discharge from genitals. Sometimes Hay-
Fever and Polypus appear.
6th. Bones of Nose and fore-skull become honeycombed and partitions rot
away, disfiguring victim for life ; Voice utterly destroyed ; very Deaf ; Stench un-
bearable 5 mucous more purulent, planting germs of Scrofula, Consumption and Death.
This, Reader, is what Snuffles, Influenza and Catarrh become.
It Was Terrible.'
Mariposa, Cal., Feb. 24, 1887. " Forward me another box of Wei De Meyer. It has nearly
exterminated my Catarrh, which was terrible.'' 1 q ^ SAWYER.

Catarrh. I had suffered with the complaint so long that I put no confidence in it, and never
expected relief. Was nearly deaf. But I tried her remedy, and to my surprise am nearly well,

El OB MEYER'S CATARRH CURE has proved to be infallible.
The secret of its great success is that it innoculates the mucous membrane, and
exterminates its poison from the system. Cases of one, five and ten years standing like
that of Vice-Pres. Wheeler have been gpeedily cured. Yes, Catarrh can now be cured.
HE FABLED CENTAURS were supposed to be the founders of medi-

and most powerful pain-healing remedy in the world. It will cure sprains, bruises,
lameness, and rheumatism of men. It will cure sprains, bruises, galls, lameness and
