It has taken the premium at the Pennsylvania State Fair, and also at quite a number of County Fairs, which fact considering the great compe- tition is one of the best recommendations of the stove. Thousands have been sold during the past five years, and we can say there have been no failures. The covers and cross pieces are heavier than any stove in the market. SIZE OF OVEN IN INCHES, See page G. ©gp For cut of Water Back and explanation sec next page.^lggx ORR, PAINTER & CO., PROPRIETORS. 9 Patent Water Back for Cooking Stoves and Ranges. This cut represents a water back for Cooking Stoves and Ranges. It can be used for any kind of Stove or Range as it can be made of any desired size. This Water Back has a great advantage over any other, as it can be attached to both high or low hearth stoves. This Water Back takes the place of the fire bricks in the Stove or Range, which is a great saving, as two sets of bricks are usually re- quired each year, while one of the Water Backs will last for ages. A stove con- structed thus will bake better than one with fire bricks, on account of the even heat produced by its passing through the Water Back. It will heat water faster than the old method, and is free from the dangei' of explosion, as the inlet and out- let is same size as the inner or steam generating space. They are made of lap- welded tubes, being screwed together with malleable return bends of superior quality, and the metal run around them, forming the whole into one solid piece, except the course of the Hollow Tubes. These Water Backs have been in use over two years and have proved their superiority. For particulars inquire of ORR, PAINTER & CO., Reading, Pa. Or JOHN DAVIS, Willccsbarrc, Pa. Extended Fire chamber for wood or coal, with two pots, one long pan and one spider pan. $25 00 30 00 35 00 The above sizes we expect to be able to supply by October 1st, 1873. By a very valuable invention patented by Samuel Blue, June 31st, 1871, and adopted by us on our celebrated Excelsior Penn Cook, we are enabled to heat two or more rooms with the same stove, at the same time performing the cooking and baking required, as perfectly as those to which the heating arrange- ment is not attached. By this useful invention the cost of an additional fire can be saved by a very small additional expense in purchasing the “ Cook and Heater,” and will insure comfort in one or more rooms, beside the one in which the stove is placed. The heat will be perfectly pure and wholesome, as will be seen by an examination of the stove. No gasses or impurities can enter the heating pipe, and therefore will not be conveyed to the adjoining rooms. We recommend dealers to try the above described stoves, and are confident that they will meet with success, in introducing them, as they will be found to give entire satisfaction. It has been tested during the past two winters, and has been pronounced by all who have seen it in operation, to be unecpialed; we claim for it beauty of design and proportion, economy, cleanliness, and powerful heating properties; we apply the sliding ash pit doors ; our grate is anti-dust raking and dumping, raised in the centre, so that it throws the slag and ashes to the outer surface, which is a perfect mill, which effectually cleans the ashes from the inside of the fire pot, and leaves a clear radiating cylinder; the screen around the cylinder is made with openings in such a manner that the heat is radiated downward.
