 WHY WE MUST GO FORWARD 
 
 1 Christ bids us do 50 . 
 
 B EHIND all our feeble questionings 
 rises the immutable word of the 
 Lord: “ Go ye into all the world. 
 Disciple all nations." 
 
 2 c CVie Heathen world is stirred to the 
 depths, 
 
 I T is too late to say “ let them alone," 
 for all heathenism is in contact with 
 Christianity. 
 
 How shall Christ be presented ? By 
 aggressive militarism, by selfish com¬ 
 mercialism, or by the gospel and its 
 institutions—the hospital, the school, 
 the church? 
 
(3) c Che pagan systems are crum¬ 
 bling. What shall replace 
 
 them? Irreligion, agnosticism, 
 infidelity? 
 
 T HIS is what threatens in India, 
 in Japan, ultimately everywhere. 
 While ancient faiths are disinte¬ 
 grating, shall not ever-young Chris¬ 
 tianity take their places ? 
 
 (4) We are in a world-crisis. Can 
 Christ’s followers look un¬ 
 moved upon such a situation 
 as now confronts us? 
 
 A N inquiring India, an aroused 
 Japan, a waking China, an ex¬ 
 plored Africa, a wide-open Island em¬ 
 pire—eager missionaries, men of piety 
 and insight, crying everywhere for re¬ 
 inforcements. Who but dullards or 
 the spiritually callous can fail to heed 
 and “go forward”? 
 
 Surely one of God’s great days is at 
 hand. 
 
 O Christians, lift up your eyes and 
 see the stately coming of the King. 
 Prepare ye the way of the Lord.
