Our patrons will find by examining the prices for Glazing that they can save money and trouble by ordering all sash Primed and Glazed. The glazed windows can be shipped more safely than the glass in boxes, and the extra allowance which must other- wise be made for breakage is avoided. Each light is thus separated from every other and Not Liable to be Broken by the irregularity of packing or uneven thickness of glass, as is always the case with glass packed in boxes. In packing glazed windows the lights are protected with thin lumber, which prevents injury when handling the bundles. The glass and sash are then in one package and can be shipped at a rate per hundred lbs. fully as low as unglazed sash. SASH WEIGHTS. MILWAUKEE, WIS. 29 HILL'S PATENT SLIDING WINDOW BLIND. The above illustration shows these Blinds in three pieces to a win- dow. on which construction the price list is based. Where the word ‘‘division ” is used it refers to the way the width of the Blind is divided, into panels or rows of slats. It is claimed that these Blinds require no hinsjes. Do not interfere with curtains or window ornaments. The light can he admitted from any part of window. They do not rattle. They are easily operated and can he quickly removed to clean. They can be attached to any window. All trimmings furnished with the Blinds. Can be put up by any mechanic. See Next Page. 30 SANGER, ROCKWELL & CO.. BLINDS. The above cut i« a full sized representation of the elides, showing the manner of placing them in the window frame. These elides nsually take the place of inside stops, which can be taken out when the elides are fitted in. See Next Pagte. MILWAUKEE, WIS. 31 DIRECTIONS FOR FITTING Hill’s Patent Inside Sliding Blinds. Place the deep grooved elide on the right hand side of the window, shallow grooved slide on left. Fasten each slide with three or four screws, so that they can be taken out, if necessary, to remove the windows. The head piece can be nailed with brads. Place the right hand edge of Blind in the bottom of deep groove and pass the left hand edge in front of the corresponding groove of shallow slide. If the space between left hand edge of blind and shallow groove is less than one-eighth inch scant, dress off carefully on either edge until the space is one-eighth inch (scant). Then put the springs on right hand edge of blind, one as near the top and one as near the bottom as they will work, with three-fourth inch clout nails. Place the springs into the deep groove and press them back until the left hand edge passes into the corresponding shallow groove. Slides usually take the place of inside stops, answering the double purpose of elides and stops. Never put paint or vaniinh in the gronvex; put paraffine in shallow grooves. No trouble need be had if these directions are followed. To prevent them from turning darker than the woods used with them, a coat of shellac should first be applied ; when dry, varnish can then be used. Or, take by weight one pound of par- afine, shaved fine, to twenty parts naphtha, dissolve in a closely stopped glass, which, if the naphtha is good, should be accom- plished in about two hours. Use first one coat of this solution, and, when dry, one coat of shellac. Then varnish. For a Dead Oil or Waxed Finish use two or more coats of the solution, pol- ishing each coat, when dry, with a stiff brush. By this process of finishing the wood is not darkened but left in its ORIG-IITAX. COX.OR. MILWAUKKE. WIS. 141 WOOD ORNAMENTS.
