Many families are barred from the free use of electrical appliances by in- sufficient electrical connections; light- ing facilities are often inadequate or inconveniently placed. Some of the products described in this booklet are made especially to remedy such con- ditions and to allow the use of any appliance at any point, and simulta- neously with the use of others. In this connection you will be in- terested in certain electrical conven- iences which can be put to almost constant use in every wired home and which find an appropriate place on these pages. Porches should be adequately lighted with control switch in- doors. A switch that locks is frequently de- sirable on the porch. In suburban homes, where outdoor teas are a usual summer diver- sion, there is frequent use for table lamps, fans or portable cooking devices. “Stand- ard”’ receptacles should be provided for out- door connections. An All-Nite-Lite will also be found an added convenience where it is desired to have a light on the porch all night. Wiring Suggestions for the Home HALL The hall should have two switches near the entrance door—one switch for control of the ceiling light, and the other controlling the porch light. Additional illumination, if required, can be secured from wall fixtures, the lights of which should be installed in pull sockets, thus securing individual control. Inexpensive and effective burglar insurance can be obtained by installing an All-Nite- Lite transformer to burn in one of these side connections through the night. At the head of the stairs another switch should be installed which also operates the ceiling fixture in the lower hall. This gives control of the hall light from up stairs and down. j Wiring Suggestions for the Home LIVING ROOM The varied occupations which constantly center in the family living room require an especially complete wiring installation. Here electrical convenience assumes many welcome forms. There should be two switches near the door- way—one controlling the central fixture and the other to control the side wall brackets. The latter should be equipped with pull sockets to give individual control. Several “Standard” baseboard receptacles, preferably those allowing two connections, spaced at convenient intervals, allow the convenient use of table lamps, piano lamps, vacuum cleaners, fans, etc., etc. 5 Wiring Suggestions for the Home DINING ROOM There should be two flush tumbler switches beside the entrance door—one controlling the central illuminating unit and the other the side wall brackets, the latter equipped with pull sockets. A generous number of “Standard” flush receptacles should be in- stalled in the baseboard, and the table itself should be furnished with outlets. The latter purpose is best served by a G-E Quad Receptacle which is connected at the floor. As the Quad Receptacle is meant for use only with a special heating circuit, a con- tractor-dealer should be consulted, as the use of several high wattage devices would over- load the ordinary circuit. The convenience of any wiring installation is greatly enhanced by the addition of a heating circuit. Wiring Suggestions for the Home _ KITCHEN The hardest work of the household is per- formed in the kitchen. It is particularly the field for the labor-saving and comfort-bearing appliances which electricity brings to the service of the home. The comfort and quick convenience of an electric range is well worth the installation of a heating circuit which has become a nec- essary part of complete wiring systems. Two switches should be installed near the doorway—one controlling the central fixture, the other controlling the side wall bracket over the sink. There should be several “Standard” flush receptacles to which can be _ attached the many electric conveniences which go to make for household comfort and economy. Wiring Suggestions for the Home BEDROOM In planning the wiring of bedrooms, due consideration should be given to the con- venient placing of attractive dresser lights and other wall brackets—also the location of a sufficient number of G-E “Standard” base- board connections to permit the use of electric devices such as vacuum cleaner, electric fan, curling iron, heating pad, im- mersion heater, vibrator, electric radiator, hair dryer, milk warmer, etc. The dresser lights can be controlled by a tumbler switch near the door, or can be equipped with pull chain sockets. 8 Wiring Suggestions for the Home alge =a 8 (% 9 AEA NIN MOAN \\ BATH ROOM The emergencies of illness and the personal requirements of daily living call for the little comforts the use of which is facilitated by proper bath room wiring equipment. You will appreciate these daily, and your house guests will be delighted. There should be a switch inside the door to operate the central fixtures and side wall brackets on each side of the mirror. These should be equipped with pull sockets. Several “Standard” receptacles should be added to allow the use of luminous radiators and var- ious electrical toilet articles, such as immer- ‘sion heater, sterilizer, massage vibrator, elec- tric shaving mug, water heater, etc. 9 Wiring Suggestions for the Home GARAGE The car owner and chauffeur are frequently compelled to perform emergency work, and often in a very short time. The assistance rendered by effective lighting and by the convenient use of electrical appliances in re- pair work remove many of the car owner’s perplexities. The lights on either side of the entrance door should be controlled by a switch indoors. A tumbler switch near the doorway controls the central fixture. “Standard”’ receptacles should be installed to which can be attached the many conveniences of the modern garage, such as the Tungar Battery Charger, solder- ing iron, glue pot, portable lamp and electric- ally driven tools. Advantages of Buying from the Electrical Contractor-Dealer The most efficient service is rendered by the specialist. While this is equally true in professional matters and in the world of retail sellirg, it has a very special application to the purchase of electrical products. The electrical dealer devotes his life to studying the construction, use and installa- tion of electrical goods. He can advise with sure knowledge as to their functions; he can adapt their location to your special needs; he is skilled at making repairs if these should become necessary. The retailer whose time and thought must embrace a wide range of unrelated lines, is, through no fault of his own, unable to direct a specialist’s attention to such of these as call for technical knowledge and skill. He can sell electrical products but he cannot sell the service which must necessarily go with them. This can be obtained only from the specialist- merchant whose whole business is the knowl- edge, the sale and che installation of these products—Tvhe Electrical Contractor-Dealer.
