 COMPO-BOARD 
 
 HE construction of Compo-Board is simple, 
 
 thoroughly seasoned lumber in one inch slats, 
 
 being firmly cemented together in intense 
 heat and under heavy pressure. Both sides are 
 then faced with an extra weight moisture proof 
 paper made especially for Compo-Board. 
 
 The use of Compo-Board permits the design- 
 ing of handsome panel effects for both walls and 
 ceiling. Papering and decorating can be done 
 as soon as the walls and ceiling are in place— 
 no waiting for plaster to dry and settle. 
 
 Water color tinting and wood graining can 
 be perfectly done over Compo-Board. 
 
 The partitioning of rooms becomes a simple task. 
 In fact anyone who understands the use of saw and 
 hammer will find that Compo-Board lends itself readily 
 to an endless number of constructive uses. 
 
 NOTE: At the request of owners of the many residences and stores, 
 rooms of which are herein illustrated, we have refrained from publish- 
 ing their names; most of them, however, may be had upon request. 
 
This inviting library, furnished in typical mission 
 
 style, was, both walls and ceiling, lined with Compo- 
 Board. Special attention is called to the decoration, 
 which is done on plain wall paper over the Compo- 
 Board. Compo-Board does not chip, or absorb mois- 
 ture like the ordinary plastered wall. 
 
An equally attractive library room, furnished in 
 Flanders; the walls and ceilings of this room are lined 
 with Compo-Board, which insures a perfectly smooth 
 surface for papering or decorating. 
 
Here we have a typical modern living room, mis- 
 
 sion style—luxurious leather cushions and an interest- 
 ing oriental rug—the walls and ceiling are equally in- 
 teresting, Compo-Board being used throughout. 
 
The modern home demands light, and the grouping 
 
 and arrangement of windows is quite an important 
 feature; also smooth walls and ceiling, unblemished by 
 unsightly cracks and dropping plaster. Compo-Board 
 was used throughout this room. 
 
The beamed ceiling and paneled effects so much in 
 
 vogue for the dining room are no longer a luxury when 
 Compo-Board is used for the paneling, as this exquis- 
 itely appointed colonial mahogany dining room will 
 testify. 
 
Compo-Board not only is selected by the man of 
 
 moderate means, but now-a-days is specified by archi- 
 tects in the finest homes—distinctively furnished as the 
 one illustrated. Compo-Board holds wall paper and 
 other decorations better than plaster. 
 
Bed room walls and ceilings are usually very deli- 
 cately tinted, and decorated. ‘The slightest crack or 
 defect in plastering is immediately noticed. Here we 
 have a tastefully appointed sleeping room, where 
 Compo-Board has been used for both walls and ceil- 
 ing, insuring a permanency and smoothness not ob- 
 tainable with plaster. 
 
Perfect walls and ceiling are demanded in a room 
 
 of this character. Note the severe and clean-cut wall 
 lines without a blemish, the result of using Compo- 
 Board. Weather has no effect whatever on it. 
 
This illustration shows the corner of a furniture 
 
 salesroom done throughout in the straight line Sheraton 
 Style. Note how admirably the perfectly smooth 
 Compo-Board wall and ceiling complete the idea. 
 
A colonial dining room in dull mahogany,—the 
 effective dado, likewise walls are of Compo-Board— 
 one appreciates Compo-Board more the second, third, 
 and fourth years, because it stands the test of time 
 without warping or cracking.

 quaint turned enameled beds, poster rag-rugs, and a 
 nursery border over one of those perfect Compo-Board

 illustrate three of the best reasons why Compo-Board 
 should find its way into your building specifications. 
 Flat tints of all kinds show to the best advantage on a

 This, a famous Victor Victrola salesroom, is prob- 
 ably the most celebrated and frequently patronized of 
 any similar musical salesroom in the world. Those 
 magnificent wall paintings are all done over that perfect 
 
 wall covering, Compo-Board. 
 
This is certainly an interesting place for lovers of 
 
 the unique and artistic in decorative objects to spend 
 an afternoon. ‘The distinctive wall and ceiling panel- 
 ing is all of Compo-Board—no unevenness here, and 
 no moisture spots to detract from the perfect walls. 
 
Department store owners will be especially inter- 
 ested in this perfectly appointed picture salesroom, of 
 a large department store in Minneapolis. ‘The ex- 
 tremely artistic arches and columns are constructed 
 entirely of Compo-Board. 
 
This Philadelphia gas and electric fixture sales- 
 room is only one of many similar institutions that have 
 found the great value of Compo-Board for the con- 
 struction of high-class display rooms. ‘The wall panels 
 and ceiling throughout are of Compo-Board.

 The plain sanitary panel effects are much in evi- 
 dence now for the interior fixturing of modern stores. 
 This Boot Shop in Cleveland, has given Compo-Board 
 
 a permanent place in all its paneling. 
 
Much of the pleasure in buying a piano is to have 
 
 a perfect harmony of surroundings,—attractive walls 
 and ceilings are a necessary adjunct to any really first- 
 class salesroom. Compo-Board walls and ceilings 
 have done much toward making this piano salesroom 
 presentable, at very little cost.

 The plain, smooth paneled walls and ceiling add, in 
 a considerable degree, to the sale value of the mer-

 use extensively of Compo-Board. ‘This fitting or try-on 
 room is constructed entirely of Compo-Board, even to

This picturesque and restful retiring room, in Phila- 
 delphia, is constructed of Compo-Board. Where per- 
 fect lines and general artistic effect is desired at a 
 
 moderate cost, Compo-Board is the material you will 
 find, on careful investigation, the best suited to your 
 needs. 
 
This sensible and altogether pleasing partitioning, in 
 a prominent Philadelphia department store, tells the 
 Compo-Board story much better than type or any 
 personal argument we might offer. ‘The lasting qualli- 
 ties of Compo-Board have been most carefully tested 
 and each year demonstrates the economic side of its 
 use.

 Display windows are an unending source of annoy- 
 ance where light boards have been used for the panel- 
 ing. The section illustrated represents the backs of a 
 recently re-constructed line of display windows, in 
 Minneapolis. No further trouble—it’s Compo-Board. 
 
Partitioning of sales floors, soda cafes, etc., in the 
 
 large stores was a most expensive proposition until the 
 introduction of Compo-Board. Now nearly every 
 department store is equipped with partitioning of this 
 character. 
 
Not only are the most ordinary partitions and walls 
 
 covered with Compo-Board, but in numerous instances 
 (this section of Tea Room in Minneapolis, for in- 
 stance), Compo-Board is used to secure the most elab- 
 orate effects. “The fresco and paintings here illustrated 
 are done over Compo-Board.

 Rooms. ‘The walls are constructed entirely of Compo- 
 Board. ‘The effect of the white enameling, with the 
 green and delicate tinted foliage is most handsome. 
 
Effective window displays can be accomplished 
 with using Compo-Board, and leading window deco- 
 rators throughout this country are among our largest 
 patrons. 
 
 The background of all display windows in this 
 Chicago department store are constructed of Compo- 
 
 Board. 
 
Fashion and the Seasons demand constant changes 
 
 in window arrangement. This effective display of 
 Dress Goods was made in Minneapolis. The back- 
 ground is of Compo-Board. Much of the window 
 
 dressing can be done before the Compo-Board is 
 placed. 
 
One of America’s leading furniture establishments 
 uses Compo-Board for walls, partitions and back- 
 ground in nearly three blocks of window space. A\ll 
 the decorating shown in above illustration is done over 
 
 Compo-Board. 
 
Much of the effectiveness of this corset display is 
 due to the design of background. Another illustra- 
 tion of perfect effect that is easily obtained, when the 
 window decorator is provided with Compo-Board. 
 
The severest tests have been given Compo-Board by 
 
 window decorators. Here it has to withstand the ex- 
 posure of extreme heat and cold, but Compo-Board 
 does not warp. This clever doll window is the work 
 of a very talented Chicago window artist—back-

 is from the New England Cottage at the Minnesota 
 State Fair. Constructed entirely of Compo-Board. 
 
A novel and very practical use of Compo-Board is 
 
 illustrated in the above picture, the woman’s figure 
 and the balustrade are constructed of Compo-Board, 
 the coloring done with air brush and water colors direct 
 on the Compo-Board. Window trimmers and card 
 writers will find Compo-Board Al for sign work. 
 
Artistic decorations add to the attractiveness of spe- 
 cial exhibitions. This row of columns and booths is 
 a section of the Piano Show at The Coliseum, Chi- 
 cago. Compo-Board used for all paneling. 
 
The Child Welfare Exhibit, Coliseum, Chicago, 
 selected Compo-Board for partitions and screen back- 
 grounds on which to display pictures, maps, signs, etc. 
 
 The result you can judge from above illustration. 
 They were highly pleased.

 for exhibition purposes is plainly shown here. Compo- 
 Board is particularly satisfactory for mounting pur-

 department store. 
 
 The attractive columns and counters are constructed 
 of Compo-Board. It’s adaptability to this character 
 of work and its moderate cost make possible displays 
 hitherto prohibitive in expense of preparation. 
 
We offer another view of this interesting Food Ex- 
 position and call special attention to the domes, the 
 perfect curves of which are secured by using Compo- 
 Board. All counters and paneling likewise constructed 
 of Compo-Board. 
 
This photo gives one a better idea of the possibili- 
 
 ties of booth construction, where Compo-Board is the 
 materia! at hand for use. Establishments having once 
 tried Compo-Board recommend it for all special work 
 of this character. Notice the counters especially, 
 made of Compo-Board. 
 
Much needless expense can be avoided in office 
 partitioning, and many widely known concerns have 
 adopted Compo-Board for partition panels, as will be 
 noticed in this entrance to well known Ship Yard Of- 
 fices in Philadelphia. Where the Compo-Board joins 
 is hidden by a one-half-inch round moulding. 
 
Not only the paneling in these offices is of Compo- 
 Board, but the ceilings as well. 
 
 Compo-Board has several advantages over wood,— 
 the expense is less, both in material and finishing. No 
 danger of cracking or jamming. 
 
The general offices of an undertaking establishment, 
 Chicago, are lined throughout walls and ceilings with 
 Compo-Board. ‘The general effect is much superior 
 to the rough cement wall, or a flatly tinted plaster

 Among the numerous uses for which Compo-Board 
 finds favor, is that of a mounting for large maps, 
 charts and pictures of various kinds. ‘The above view 
 shows a small section of shelving and one of the 
 mounted maps in office of a large map company in 
 Chicago. Drawer bottoms in cabinets made of 
 Compo-Board. 
 
Here we have another office lined with Compo- 
 Board,—the same general tone of sanitary neatness 
 
 prevails. 
 Many of the leading contractors are favoring 
 
 Compo-Board exclusively for use in general office 
 
 buildings. 
 
This representative office affords a very good ex- 
 ample of the value of Compo-Board as an office lining. 
 For cleanliness, neatness, and practicability, the mar- 
 ket has yet to produce any building material as sensi- 
 ble as Compo-Board for this purpose. 
 
This representative school room is in a Catholic 
 School, Chicago. The walls and ceilings are of 
 Compo-Board, covered with wall paper. Its use 
 
 insures a dry, sanitary room, and the papering will 
 retain its freshness and be free from all moisture spots 
 and stains. 
 
Here we have the assembly hall in the same school, 
 Compo-Board being used for both walls and ceiling. 
 
 The proof of the worth of an article is in its appear- 
 ance and lasting qualities. We have a number of 
 customers who have used Compo-Board for the past 
 
 fifteen years. | 
 
This appetizing, cleanly looking soda cafe is in 
 one of the finest Drug Stores, Minneapolis. The walls 
 and all ceiling panels are of Compo-Board. 
 
 The beamed ceiling is particularly attractive, and 
 the delicately tinted Compo-Board harmonizes to per- 
 fection with the wood work. 
 
This homey looking Chicago restaurant owes much 
 of its attractiveness to the perfect walls and ceiling of 
 Compo-Board construction. In rooms of this charac- 
 ter, for sanitary reasons alone, Compo-Board should 
 be used. No cracks or crevices to hold the dirt.

 ing, doesn’t it>—the clean cut mission furniture, deco- 
 rative plate rail, and quaint marine frieze. 
 
 Compo-Board is used for a lining in this room also. 
 
All lines of business find use for Compo-Board. 
 Here we have one of Chicago’s finest saloons, the 
 walls and ceiling panels of which are Compo-Board. 
 
 There is something very attractive about a Compo- 
 Board wall and ceiling, when artistically decorated as

Here we have a combination cafe and bar. All the 
 paneling of walls and ceiling is Compo-Board. The 
 general effect is clear cut and business-like. Compo- 
 Board carries decorative tints and designs with better 
 grace than the finest plastered walls. 
 
This entrance and office waiting room affords an ex- 
 cellent example of the use of Compo-Board for both 
 wall lining and partitions. 
 
 Compo-Board is easy to apply—solid to the touch 
 and does not break as the ordinary plaster.
