COMPANY NEW YORK Copyright 1907 by The Leatherole Company SANATILE | THE MODERN .WALL: TILING? S=ANATILE is the modern wall tiling. It is not a substitute for, but an improvement upon, regu- lar glazed tiling. An improve- =| ment, because while it has the utility and beauty of glazed ti- ling, it costs only one-fifth as much. SANATILE can be used wher- ever other tiling is employed é > with equally fond results. Sut is now in wide use in bath- -rooms, kitchens, pantries, nurseries, laundries, hospitals, restaurants, state- rooms, physicians’ and dentists’ offices, etc., where it meets every requirement. | SANATILE is made in relief on a strong fabric, with a highly enameled surface and heavy fibre backing. It is perfectly waterproof on both sides and can therefore not only be freely cleansed, but is impervious to moisture from the wall. It is germ-proof, unaffected by heat or cold, and when properly applied will never crack, craze, split, tear or peel off. It cannot chip from accident, like other tiling, as its surface is tough and elastic. The material is made in a wide range of attract- ive embossed designs, in plain white and delicate non-fading colors. Borders and bases are made in rolls eight yards long and two feet wide. One strip of border and one strip of base make a wainscoting four feet high. Where greater height is desired, filler rolls of the same length and - eighteen inches wide are furnished to match. SANATILE ITS MANY ADVANTAGES “f{ANATILE is sanitary to an extreme. No foreign matter can remain on its sur- | face after ordinary cleaning with soap and : water; its joints are few and where prop- ea hung are vanes tight, offering no chance for the lodgment of dust, germs, etc. Not only is the material far less costly than all other tilings used, but it is comparatively inexpen- sive to apply. Painted walls crack open; although the plaster may crack behind SANATILE, it will not be affect- ed in the least, but still remains in perfect condition. A patent moisture-proof cement unites the fibre backing to SANATILE, preventing its loosening. It w) 1s necessary to see SANATILE mounted =| on the wall in harmonious surroundings to appreciate what a delight it is to the eye and what a sense of cleanliness and comfort it affords. Whether of flat, snow-white porcelain tile effect, or raised in high relief in delicately tinted coloring, SANATILE is always satisfactory from the day it is applied. Its durability is as great as porcelain tile if ordi- nary care is observed. Frequent washing with water and soap keeps it fresh looking as long as the ' wall lasts. Its variety of designs and tinted decorations make it possible to conform to any architectural scheme or coloring which may be planned. In a house containing several bath-rooms it is easy to obtain tasteful and pleasing effects by em- ploying different patterns of SANATILE in a variety of tints and ivory tones. The illustrations on page 19 give an idea of some of the designs. These, with many other unique patterns, afford abundant opportunity for selection. On tinted SANATILE the high relief is left light, the color being in the low part, thus producing a most pleasing effect. But they cannot hurt SANATILE. Its hard enamel surface can withstand everything except extreme abuse. Ordinary accidents make no im- pression upon it, and dirt, grease and stains can be wiped off as easily as from a china plate. Use ammonia in the water, if necessary, applying with a sponge. The wainscoting, or the space from the floor to a line about four feet above, is that part of the nur- sery wall most ill-treated; and this part should be protected with SANATILE. In many of the finest homes in the land, however, the entire side walls of the nurseries have been hung with SANATILE, not only to afford protection above the “danger line” but to give this important room of the house a more prepossessing appearance and to insure absolute cleanliness and purity. Wall “1 | paper is out of the question, and painted plaster walls sooner or later give way. SANATILE solves the problem. Mounted a high wainscot, or covering the side walls com- pletely, it will not only absolutely protect the plaster- ing but present a cleanly and inviting appearance of which any housewife may be proud. For greater economy, the side walls above the wainscot may be hung with SANITAS—a water- proof, unembossed wall covering lighter and cheaper than SANATILE, but possessing many of the latter’s fine qualities, and made with either glazed or dull surface. This treatment results in an absolutely water, steam, dirt and germ-proof wall, which can be cleaned in an instant with sponge and water. 12 é ; ' eS & ° Za - Oo. = tS) 2) | | ats = : Ly) V e | 2 : 2) a : I . = tp]: nNOS FOR LAUNDRIES EXT to the kitchen the laundry walls are | subjected to the greatest amount of mois- = ture, heat, cold, etc., and it is equally La important that they should be protected Wie SANATILE. On wash days the value of having SANATILE on the walls will be plainly apparent. Often the condensation of the steam and hot, moist air causes the walls to ““sweat” and run water, which in many cases ruins the plastering, paint or ordinary wall paper. SANATILE is not affected in the slight- est by such conditions ; on the contrary, the more it is washed and cleaned the brighter and fresher it is. In public laundries, dairies, sanitariums and other institutions where infected clothing or food products may be handled at times, SANATILE is most valuable. It can be sponged off or sprayed with carbolic, boroglycerine or other antiseptic solutions and so disinfected that germs cannot lodge and multiply. 14 Ke Bae, E SANITARY LAUNDRY ‘BEA \— Ne 15 SANATILE DIN MEACN OYE a ala as Cae shops, etc., of ocean steamships, yachts, steamboats and sailing vessels there is no wall covering so satisfactory and serviceable as SANATILE, with its various patterns and light tints and tones. It will stand all the racking and dampness to which it may be exposed on the water. In the lavatories, bath-rooms, and barber-shops of Pullman Palace Cars; in hotels, theatres, res- taurants, cafés; in the lobbies, corridors and hall- ways of office buildings and in business offices, there is nothing better nor half so economical as SANATILE. This is true also of hospital wards, operating- rooms and clinics — for all institutions where it is so essential to have sanitary walls. In contagious wards and disinfecting rooms SANATILE walls can be sponged or sprayed with antiseptic fluids. 16 ses open rf" ¢ 17 SANATILE DESIGNS AND DECORATION =] HE illustrations shown on the opposite : page are small sections of side walls and my] give an idea of SANATILE designs. |} For Colonial houses Colonial designs are at hand. .The Renaissance is provided for, as well as the Elizabethan, Empire, Louis XIV and other periods. SANATILE is decorated in all of the light shades of cream white, ivory, pale green, blue, pink and light tan. It can be made without additional cost in any special color desired so far as the borders and bases are concerned. SANATILE is applied to an ordinary white coated wall with thick paste applied to the goods or with Sphinx Gum applied to the wall. Full directions for applying accompany each roll. It is made with oil colors on strong muslin and is rapidly taking the place of all the so-called waterproof wall coverings, for it is far more durable and will not fade. It is applied lke wall paper to any wall, where it lasts indefinitely and hides all flaws in the plaster. Used also on ceilings.
