The increasing demand for Beaver Board throughout the United States and abroad, to- gether with the many inquiries received re- garding this product from interested persons, has led to the preparation of this booklet. The questions daily asked us are here answered. A book dealing with an article in general can not always answer the questions dealing with specific cases. This fact is appreciated by the manufacturers of Beaver Board. .and they therefore invite your questions with reference to the specific use to which you may want to put their product. They are never too busy to answer any questions. Your inquiries will receive prompt attention. Remember they con- sider it a favor to serve you in this wise. The manufacturers of Beaver Board also maintain a suggestion department. This de- partment is at the service of every person contemplating the use of Beaver Board. It will answer questions regarding the sizes best adapted to your rooms, the manner of decorat- ing same and the panel design most effective. All that is necessary to receive the service, is to send specific information showing the size of the rooms, the location of each window, door and other opening, giving also the direction 3 DESIGNED AND EXECUTED BY CHAS. ROHLFS, BUFFALO, N. Y¥. DINING ROOM In the home of Anna Katherine Green, Buffalo, N.Y. which the windows face and the obstructions to the light. The most effective way of furnish- ing this information is to draw a plan of the room to the scale of one quarter inch to the foot. This booklet deals especially with Beaver Finished Wall Board. This board takes the place of both lath and plaster. It eliminates unsanitary wall paper. It can be painted with an oil or cold water paint. 4 It is susceptible to the finest artistic decora- tion, whether it be frescoing, tinting or hand painting. The only limit is the skill of the decorator or artist. This board is used for private dwellings, offices, stores, colleges, club houses, summer cottages, public halls, churches and theatres. No building is too humble nor is there any too fine for its use. It is the ideal wall and ceiling material. A question that is frequently being asked is ‘Will you fill small orders?’’ We take this opportunity of saying that no order is too small to meet with our prompt and careful attention. It is a rule in our shipping department to have every order go forward the day following its receipt, and if possible it will be shipped the same day. Should any order be delayed by causes beyond our control, immediate notice will be given. BEAVER FINISHED WALL BOARD is made of pure wood fibre, specially treated and subjected to great pressure. It is made in panels of various sizes, but of a uniform thickness of a scant 3-16 of an inch... It has.a mat or pebbled surface; it is light, but tough and strong. It will resist a steady pressure of 5 440 pounds when placed on studding centered at 16 inches. This is a greater strain than is ordinarily upon walls and ceilings. . In the manufacture of this board care is taken to cross the fibre to render it a sound deadener. It is the ideal wall and ceiling material for this reason. It is used for partition walls, telephone booths, consultation closets and other purposes requiring a sound-deadening material. The crossing of the fibres likewise make it a non-conductor of heat and cold. Buildings , finished with it are warm in winter and cool in summer. , LIVING ROOM IN A SUMMER COTTAGE. 6 BILLIARD ROOM Buffalo Launch Club, Beaver Board is easily and readily applied. It can be cut with a knife or a saw. It nails directly to the studding. Anyone with a hammer, knife and saw can do it. It com- pletely supplants both lath and plaster, pos- sessing all the advantages of the latter, without a disadvantage. Beaver Board gives a firm, hard wall, which will improve with age. It will conform to any ordinary shrinkage or swelling of the timbers of the house. It will not crack or disintegrate. 7 Wall paper is eliminated wherever Beaver Board is used. It takes any paint or tint. It is susceptible to any color or blend of colors, and therefore, responds to the finest artistic decoration. Wall paper is expensive. Then, too, it harbors vermin. Where is the house who welcomes the paper-hanger? Who enjoys the litter and dirt he makes? Beaver Board can be quickly and easily repainted or tinted, and with lasting results. There is no litter or dirt. | Panel decoration is in vogue. No wall and ceiling material is better adapted for this purpose. With the thirty-three sizes in which Beaver Finished Wall Board is made, a great variety of paneling can be obtained. Every panel of Beaver Finished Wall Board is made with straight edges and square corners. These panels are packed in bundles of convenient size for handling. The ordinary spring or give in ceiling beams which cracks plaster does not effect Beaver Board. It is particularly suited for sleeping rooms, sewing rooms and nurseries on account of its sanitary and hygienic qualities. The refuse and dirt incident to plastering and replastering are entirely eliminated by the use of Beaver Board. It is designed to overcome all objectionable features of a plastered wall. It will take any tint or paint. It contains no acid to eat the coloring material. Beaver Board is a non-conductor of heat and eold. It makes houses cool in summer and warm in winter. Parties living in houses lined with Beaver Board during the cold winter months pronounce them the warmest they have ever lived in. AN ARTISTIC CEILING 14 HEAT, COLD AND SOUND. Beaver Board is efficient in retarding sound and holding heat and cold, because of its fibrous nature. Heat, cold and sound follow the line of least resistance which in a fibre is along its length. The line of conduction is broken to meet this condition. The fibres are erossed and recrossed so that the heat and cold and sound waves are scattered and spent. To insure the greatest possible resistance to these waves of sound, heat and cold, Beaver Board is made up in three ples. Around the fibres of each section are minute air spaces or eclls, which are filled with still air. Still air is the best non-conductive material known. SOUND DEADENING. The following table by Professor Sabine of Harvard University shows the relative merits of various materials as sound deadeners. This table is supplemented by the result obtained in comparative tests with Beaver Board. The unit of measure is the absorbing and deadening power of one cubic meter (39.37 cubic inches) of still air.
