There are several reasons why like my home, a few of which I will reiate. First, the special cata- log of each house enables you to make your choice. The catalog shows and explains to you better than any contractor how your home will look when completed. Second, you order your house, when it comes, every piece is there, and you are not held up by a lumber yard for material. Third, every piece is cut to fit, and marked where it is to fo any one not even a carpenter, if handy at all, could put one together by following the instructions of the blue print. I am the owner of one of the Alad- din readi-cut houses. I have built it largely by my own labor, after work- ing hours. We have lived in it since Nov. ist and like it. Were I to build again I should buy an Aladdin house. Last November I bought rough lumber for a house and had it hauled to my lot. Before I got the work started I was taken sick—for- tunately and when I was able to work again it was almost July. Meanwhile I had bought this Aladdin house as a short cut. The house was shipped promptly. I spent a day sorting the lumber and taking care 125 of the material and it went togethe like magic. I had the _ pieccs of frame piled in the order in which they would be required and numbered according to the plan, so there was no delay. Myself and two other men worked after 4 o’clock for about three weeks and had the building closed in except for some clap board- ing. For instance, if we wanted the frame for the front end I had them all in a pile and there was no delay. The material as a whole is of fine quality. Shingles, clapboards, porch finish interior are fine. The floors are good for soft wood. I found everything as represented and blue prints make the work simple. As a man of modest means and with only a limited knowledge of house build- ing I-was confronted with the prob- lem of getting together the material of various kinds at reasonable prices an especiaily difficult thing to do in these times, for a man without ex- perience. In fact, our enthusiasm is so contagious that one mother-in-law has just bought a lot adjacent to ours and will put up an Aladdin in the spring and a second mother-in-law is just about to follow suit. The ma- terial used in our house was cer- tainly of first class quality. Every little piece from the foundation up was provided. I am not a carpenter and have put up the house practically all myself. In fact, the only work we hired done was the masonry foun- dation and the installation of the doors and windows. If a competent carpenter put up an Aladdin house he should not have the slightest difficul- ty. An amateur like myself must ex- pect some trouble due to his own in- experience. But these things are not the fault of the house. Lumber arrived May 12th, and we began keeping . house in semi-completed building July 1. Sept 1st we had everything sufficiently completed and one bed room entirely finished up, even to wall paper and paint, so that our son made his first appearance there on that date.
