S. A. The Harvard Polo Club The Harvard Polo Club was founded in 1883. The record of Members of the Polo Club starts with the Class of '90, as a Freshman Club, in the Fall of 1886. Before 1886 the Club was composed of polo players from the different Classes, with grounds and stables at Watertown. No records were kept from 1883 to 1886. Constitution and By-Laws 1. The name of this Club shall be The Har- vard Polo Club. 2. To be composed of not over Twenty-five members from each Freshman Class. 3. The Initiation fee shall be $40, the monthly dues $5. 4. The Officers shall be President, Secretary, and Custos, the senior Secretary being President, the Secretaiy and Custos being elected by the first five to their respective offices. 5. The outgoing Secretary shall nominate two men for each office. 6. The first five shall be elected by the Sopho- mores, the second five by the Sophomores and first five, the balance by the two first fives. 7. Money owed to the Club by active members shall be posted the 1st of every month. If not paid 15 days after, a fine of $5 will be charged to his account every month until paid. 8. No spirituous liquor allowed in the rooms. 9. The Secretary shall call all meetings of the Club except general. [7] The Harvard Polo Club \ 10. The President shall call all general meet- \ ings of the Club. j 'i 11. All members shall sign this book. 12. All resignations shall be handed to the . Secretary in writing. ] 13. The Gustos shall fill the Chair in case the i Secretary is absent. 14. Election of members shall be the first day | that College opens. 15. No honorary member shall be elected in I the Club. I 16. Any members failing to be at a meeting without sufficient cause will be fined $5, payable ^ with monthly dues. i 17. Meetings shall be posted on the bulletin ] board twenty-four hours previous to same. 18. Any members breaking the property of j the Club shall notify the Steward and pay for ] same. ■ i 19. By a two-thirds majority of the Class of 1903, it was voted to raise the initiation fee to meet the expenses of the Club from $40 to $45, October 1, 1900.
