4… }. & 1-12-72.3 State of Connecticut BY HIS EXCELLENCY CHARLES A. TEMPLETON GOVERNOR | rur lantatin it (1)N Friday next, Warren Gamaliel Harding, twenty- ninth President of the United States, will be laid to rest. The President of the United States has by his procla- mation appointed that day to be a day of mourning and prayer throughout the nation. - It is fitting that the people of this State should give token of their affection for that beloved friend and leader who gave his last strength in the service of his fellow- countrymen. The President asks it, our hearts demand it. I therefore designate Friday, August tenth, as a day of solemn remembrance. And I earnestly recommend that, at the hour of the funeral, daily occupations be suspended, in order that all may in thought and prayer kneel at the grave of their dead President, in his memory pledging themselves anew to serve their Country with his patience and unselfishness. And I further recommend that on Sunday, August fifth, the Churches of all faiths and creeds unite in prayer to Almighty God for the repose of the President who is no more and for the guidance of the President who has taken upon his shoulders the heavy responsibilities of the government. Given under my hand and the seal of the State at the Capitol, in Hartford, this fourth day of August, in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three and of the independence of the United States the one hundred and forty-eighth.
