LIBRARY OF CONGRESS 027 211 142 ft DIRECTION. In the YEAR column, the numbers underlined represent leap years. In the MONTHS column the two months Janu- ary and February, that are followed by dashes should be used ?^.J m con J' unction w ith leap years, as designated in the YEAR column. In the lower right-hand corner of each square, will be found numbers from 1 to 7 enclosed in triangles. These numbers are unit numbers and should be used as follows: Suppose it is required to find the day of the week on which December 10, 1891, fell. December, in the MONTHS column is designated by the unit number 5, in a triangle in the lower right-hand corner; in the same manner, 3 will be found to be the unit number for the 10th, in the DAYS column. In tlr year 1891, 18 is the century and 91 is the year. Proceeding as with months and days, 4 will be tound to be the unit number for 18, in the CENTURY column and 6 the unit number for 91, in the YEARS column. Now by adding these four num- bers together, 5, 3, 4 and 6 we get 18, which, in the KEY col- umn stands opposite THU.; therefore, December 10, 1891, fell on Thursday. This same method of procedure should be' fol- lowed in finding ANY date, past present or future, from the year 100 to the year 2100, with the exception of dates that iall in January or Febuary of leap year. The finding of Jann- ary and Febuary dates of leap years is clearly outlined in the in the first paragraph. Although this calendar was intended originally to facilitate the finding of dates the user, no doubt, will find many more uses for it than above outlined.
