Directing the settlement of certain claims of the States of Maine and Massachusetts. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representor- 2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That the accounting otBcers of the treasury be, and they are 4 hereby, authorized and directed to adjust and settle the claims 5 of the States of Maine and Massachusetts, respectively, under 6 the fourth and fifth articles of the treaty to " settle and define 7 the boundaries of the United States and the possessions of her 8 Britannic Majesty in North America," Ike, dated the ninth 9 day of August, anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and 10 forty-two ; and a sum not exceeding nineteen thousand eight 1 1 hundred and three dollars and thirty-three cents is hereby ap- 2 12 propriated for the payment of the principal sum of said claims, 13 to be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise 14 appropriated. And the said accounting officers are further 15 directed to pay to the said States interest on the items which 16 go to make up their claims from the date when the said items 17 Mere paid by the said States, respectively ; and so much 18 money as may be necessary to pay the said interest is hereby 19 thereto appropriated. 00 O 00 a ^ I?
