Every person who shall take, kill, destroy, buy, sell or offer for sale, or have in his possession, any wild bird or birds at any season of the year except as herein- after provided, shall be fined $20 for each of such birds. Every person who shall pursue with intent to kill any wild bird, except as hereinafter provided, shall be fined $20 for each offence. Every person who shall destroy or disturb the nest or eggs of any wild bird shall be fined $20 for each oflence. Partridge, Quail and Woodcock may be killed from November 1st to December 31 st, inclusive. Partridge, Quail or Woodcock wherever taken may not be sold, offered for sale or possessed with in- tent to sell. Penalty, $20 for each bird. Partridge, Quail or Woodcock may not be taken or sent beyond the limits of the state. Penalty $20 for each bird. Black Duck and Wood Duck may be killed from August 15th to March 31st, inclusive Peep, Plover, Snipe, Yellow=Legs and other so-called " shore birds," may be killed from August 1st to December 31st, inclusive. Wild Geese, Brant, Teal, Coot and all duck, ex- cept Black Duck and Wood Duck, may be killed at any time of the year. Waterfowl may not be pursued or killed, from, or by means of, or by the use of any boat except what is commonly known as a skiff and propelled by oars, in Point Judith Pond, Charlestown Pond, Quonochontaug Pond. Penalty, $20 for each offence. Pheasants may not be killed prior to October 15, 1910. Penalty, $20 for each bird. Fish=Hawks may not be killed at any time. Penalty, $20 for each bird. English Sparrows, Hawks, (except Fish= Hawks,) Owls, Crows and Crow=Blackbirds may be killed at any season of the year by a person upon his own rafid; The law prtfv*i*ding a bounty on Hawks, Owls and Crows does not authorize any person taking or killing birds for such bounty to go upon the land of another or to kill any of such above described birds upon land not owned by himself. HUNTERS LICENSES No person shall hunt, pursue, take or kill any wild bird or animal, in this state, without having first ob- tained a license as hereinafter provided. Every person holding such license while hunting, shall present same for inspection to any person demanding same. Failure to present license shall make person liable to same penalty as if he where hunting without license. Licenses are not transferable, and expire on the 31st day of December. Licenses may be obtained from the town or city clerks, in each town or city. License Fees: Every bona fide resident of the state, who is a citizen of the United States, $1.00. Every non-resident of the state, who is a citizen of the United States, $10. Every unnaturalized foreign born person, $15. Exceptions : Every bona fide resident of this state, or his immediate family, may hunt (such birds or ani- mals as may legally be killed) on land owned or leased by him and on which he is actually domiciled, and which land is used for agricultural purposes and not for club shooting, without such license. Any non-resident, who is a citizen of the United States, and who owns real estate in Rhode Island assessed for taxation at $500 ; and any non-resident, who is a citizen of the United States and is a member of a hunting or fishing club incorporated prior to January 1, 1909, which club owns real estate in Rhode Island assessed at $1000 may procure license on payment of $1.00 plus regis- tration fee. Each non-resident license shall enable the licensee to carry from the state not more than ten wild fowl, the ex- portationof whichisprohibitedby law, in each year pro- vided they are carried open to view. Penalty for violation of this act fine not less than twenty nor more than fifty dollars, or by imprisonment not exceeding thirty days, or both fine and imprisonment. No license shall be granted any person for one year after such conviction. Anv transfer or loan of license shall forfeit same. Rabbits, Hares and Grey Squirrels may not be killed from January 1st to October 31st, inclusive. Penalty, $20 for each animal. The use of Ferrets and Weasels is prohibited at all times. Penalty, 10 days in jail. Hunting with Ferret in possession, or being associated with any one hunting with Ferret is forbidden. Penalty, $5. TRESPASSING. Persons shooting or trapping on another's land be- tween December lath and October 15th, "next follow- ing, shall be fined $5 for the first offence and $10 for each subsequent offence. This applies to persons shooting Hawks, Owls and Crows upon land of another. Persons trespassing on land posted against hunting or shooting, for the purpose of hunting or shooting, shall be fined $20. This applies to persons hunting or shooting Foxes, Hawks, Owls or Crows for bounty. U. S. LAWS RELATING TO SHIPPING GAME. All packages containing dead animals, birds or parts thereof, shipped by interstate commerce, must be plainly marked with name and address of shipper and nature of contents. Penalty on shipper, carrier and consignee, not over $200. Penalty on common carrier for trans- porting game killed in violation of laws of state in which killed, $200. COMMISSIONERS. Commissioners of Birds and their Deputies are em- powered by Chapters 1 12 and 1 13 of the General Paws of Rhodelsland and the amendments thereof and additions thereto to arrest without warrant any person violating laws relating to birds and game.
