REYNOLDS FAMILY JAMES REYNOLDS Rhode Island and Providence Records state that James Reynolds' petitioned the Assembly for land in King's Prov- ince, May 13. 1665. He took the oath of allegiance. May 20, 1671 He was taken with others to the prison in Hart- ford, for refusing to acknowledge allegiance to the Colony of Connecticut, May 24, 1677, "He and forty-one other in- habitants of Narragansett petitioned the King to put an end to the differences about the government." July 29, 1679. In 1687 was overseer of the poor. In 1688 served on grand jury. "In 1690 was conservator of the peace." In "American Ancestry," James is called the son of Wil- liam, of Kingstown R. I., in 1647. Some genealogists state that James was born in England in 1617. M. Deborah in 1646. She was b. in 1620. He d. in 1700-02, in No. Kingstown, R. I. His will was proved in 1702. The chil- dren of James and Deborah were: I. Johu-, b. Oct. 12, 1648; m Sarah Ayres. He was killed by Indians in King Philip's War in Narragansett, R. I. , Dec. 19, 1675.
