127 3PV 1 A Summer Home in tine Shawangunk Mountains l.oOO FEET AROVE SEA LEVEL IT. E. TERWILLIGER ct SON. Proprietors. Post Offit:e A kind of ice preservation in the coun- try, if not in the world, are phenomena most remarkable and interesting, and amply repay the two mile tramp over the trail leading to them, that one may enjoy a snowball in August and behold the countless tons of ice preserved in their cavernous depths through the hottest days of summer. Elleiiville, two miles distant, affords the guests of Mount Meenahga many of the advantages of a village home. Here are superior physicians, six churches of various denominations, well stocked stores, three banks, and the con- veniences of an intelligent and progressive community. The population is about three thousand and the village enjoys the reputation of being one of the most attractive and healthful towns in the state. Accessible by New York, Ontario and Western R. R., stations in New York at Forty-second Street and Franklin Street, North River — same stations as the West Shore road. Since the close of last season the New York, Ontario and Western have completed a new division of their road from Port Jervis to Kingston via Ellenville. By this connection now afforded with the Ulster and Delaware and the West Shore railroads at Kingston, Ellenville is easily accessible not only from the Catskills but from Canada, the Adirondacks, Lake George, Saratoga, etc., and the mountain resorts of New England. Mt. Meenahga, as a natural center in this section of the Shawangunk region, is thus more easy of access than ever before to parties returning from resorts more remote from New York, Brooklyn and adjacent cities. A direct route is also now open to residents of cities throughout the central and western portions of tlie state via the West Shore from Albany to Kingston and the Ontario and Western to Ellenville. Facilities are afforded, as well, for connection with the Erie at Port Jervis Schedule of trains will be furnished on application when summer time-tables are issued. Tickets for Ellenville sold and baggage checked through at R. R. Company's stations and ticket offices in New York; also in Washington and Philadelphia at stations of Pennsylvania Railroad Company. Stage or private conveyance will be sent to the station to meet guests on arrival of any train, ON NOTIFICATION. Fare by stage, seventy-five cents; tnmks fifty cents. The drive to Mount Meenahga is made in forty minutes. Rates of Board : June ;ind September, single rooms, $12 to $24; double rooms, $20 to $35. July and August, single ronms, $14 to $28; double rooms, $22 to $40. Day rate throughout season, $3 to $4. Cottages. The cottages rent at from $175 to $250 for the season. At these prices occupants care for their own cottages, but arrangements m ly be made for such service as may be required, at a moderate charge per week. For more complete descrip- tion of cottages see printed slip, sent on request.
