 u.se(l, then for a time "out of style," then, far^hion tnrning, brings them again l)efore the pul)- 
 lie. The stove trade is not exempt from these laws ; and, eonse([Uently, we liml that to-day 
 the demand for what was formerly termed the Franklin Stove is upon us; after having used 
 the elosed fire for a number of years, many housekeepers are ready once more to adojjt the 
 open fire, wliich, as they say, is "so cheerful and he;iltlil'ul ;" in this theory they are sustained 
 by many eiuiiieiit seientirie men, who elaini that hot air radiated from east or even wrouglit 
 iron is detrimental to health, — that the ojieu fire with plenty of ventilation will tend in a 
 great measure to j)revent the contracting of diseases of the throat and lungs. )(r do not jiro- 
 pose to discuss this (juestion, nor do we consider ourselves able to do so, liut we wish to say 
 that it is our pur]>ose to keep up to, and to be rather in advance of, the wants (jf the trade in 
 our branch of industry. We have, consccjuentiy, after gri'at study and ex])eriment, produced 
 the 1n(!I^eside to meet the wants of a large number of our patrons who de.-ire to have an 
 open fire stove which will be cheerful, beautiful, economical, ami efficient in hetiting power. 
 The verdict of those who have examined this stove is, we are happy to say, — "It is fai' aliead 
 of any stove of its cla.ss vet produ<-ed." The stove, as sliowu by cut on o]>posite page, is a 
 very fair representation of it as an o])en fire. Please observe that the Inglcside is so arraugeil 
 that it can be used as a Double Heater, — that by removing tlie urn on the top, and placing a 
 hot-air jiipe on the collar, a large volume of hot air can i)e conducted to ujip;?r rooms. This 
 feature in open-fire stoves is found oidy in the Inglcside.

 Tliis stove, ami the one represented mi page 35, are .same iu construction, except that the 
 front is proviiled witli mica doors, through which the light is reflected and heat radiated ; in 
 all other )iarticulars it is substantially the same. It is adapted to burning anthracite or bitumin- 
 ous coal, and l)eing arranged for heating upper rooms must become very popular with the 
 trade, as bj' this inipnivement rooms below and above can be warmed, without the necessity of 
 separate fires. The design is beautiful, as can be seen by the cut ; the construction is such 
 that no heat can be lost ; the draft is nuule revertible by means of a damper, making the 
 radiation thorough and complete; the circular shaking-grate prevents the annoyance from 
 clinkers; the ash-pit is large and provided with an ash-<lrawer which can be removed without 
 the danger of dust escaping; the dust-flue is an admirable feature. The ornaments and rail, 
 all iiicki'l-plated, gives a richness to tiie ai)pearance of the stove not found in many of its 
 comiietitors. Cold air is introduced under and through the bottom and pa.sses through the 
 sides, concentrating at the top, and when not used as a double heater pa.-;ses out through the 
 open-work at the base of the urn ; when u.sed as a heater the urn is removed, the heat-pipe is 
 jilaced upon the collar, and the hot air passing into this pipe is conducted to the rooms al)ove; 
 taking all the advantages of this stove into consideration, we believe we can .say it is the most 
 desirable open-fire stove offered to the trade; it cannot fail to ])lease all who may desire a 
 stove of this class. To our customers we would say, send in your orders .soon for samples, as 
 we have no doubt that cpiite a large amount of them will be ni'cded to supply the demand 
 during the cominu- fall.

 inetry of liirin, as well as the obtaiiiinir of a larger amount of hcating-surfaee. It has a beau- 
 tiful Oetairoiial Base, tw<'lve iiiehes hii;h, ash pits raiiginu; on the difierent sizes from Oj to 12 
 inehes ill lieiglit. A eliiiker door, by whieh clinkers can be removed from ih ■ bottom of the 
 fire and drop])ed into the ash-pit, thus insuring at all times a clean (ire. The cylinder is larger 
 in diameter at the bottom than at the top, which ])ri'vents the accumulation of ashes on the 
 side and thereby destroying i-adiatioii. The grate is both dumping and shaking, so arranged 
 that no dust can escape while raking the fire ; the radiator contains in the largest size twelve 
 Ilot-air Tubes 31 inehes in diameter ; in the smallest size nine of 3; inches in diameter; the 
 air enters these tubes at the bottom and is conducted to the top ; from thence it passes through 
 the liot-air pipes to the fines. 
 
 We furnish a su])plemental <lrnm (to be nseil only with Anthracite Coal); this drum is 
 plaeecl on the top of the radiator, through whieh the products of combustion passes and adds 
 to the powerful radiating properties of the furnace. 
 
 Air may l>e introduced through the base from the room in which the heater is placed, or 
 Irom the outside by means of pipes ; a large vapor-pan is placed within the heater to moisten 
 the hot air before it pa.sses into the rooms above.
