Copyrighted 1892, by W. A. Garner. RAILWAY GUIDE. Vol.. 2. Texas Travelers' RAILWAY GUIDE. TO THE RAILWAY, STEAMSHIP and STAGE LINES OF TEXAS. .'EXAS TRAVELERS' RAILWAY SUIDE CO. V. A. GARNER, ... - President. 2, GEO. W. WILLIAMS, Secretary and Manager. No. 3. Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas, January i, 1893. Contaias the latest Time Tables of all the Railways in the State of Texas and Mexico ; Sailing Time of ihe principal Steamship Lines; location of the principal cities, th ir copulation, etc. Revised and published monthly. Distributed to all Ticket Offices, Con- ductors, Hotels and all leading Business Houses throughout the State. Mex'.can National Railroad — T. D. Kline, General Manager, resigned; succeeded by A. C. Merriam. Some very important changes are made in time card of San Antonio & Aransas Pass Railway, taking effect Nov. 22, 1892, but received too late for the December issue. W. A. Diesbrough, a well known traveling man, formerly of Texas, is now located on the Pacific coast, but will embark for Aus- tralia about the beginning of the new year. The Railway Master Mechanic is a valua. ble journal, and contains matter of interest to all mechanics, and especially those con- nected with railways. The subscription price is $1 per year. Chicago, Ills. The last formality in the construction of the St. Louis union depot was completed last month. The train shed will be the larg- est in the world, having capacity for thirty - two trains. This structure will cost $1,400,- 000. The depot will cost $500,000, and the land, etc., involved in the matter cost in the neighborhood of $4,500,000. The name of the station formerly called Lone Grove, on the Austin & Northwestern R. R., has been changed to Bessemer. The name Malone, a station on the same line, has been changed to Graphite. A. C. Michaelis, having resigned the po- sition of general freight and passenger agent of the Mexican Central Railway, the business of the traffic department has been placed, until further notice, under the management of H. B, Wilkins, assistant general freight and passenger agent. Speculation is rife as to whether or not the Rock Island people will conclude to build their line to Fort Worth. President Cable and party were here on November 14th, but without exception the gentlemen were very reticent respecting the question. It is claimed that Mr. Cable expressed him- self as being astonished at the evidence of business thrift and energy of Fort Worth. Not a word was dropped by him, however, regarding his intentions respecting the southern extension of his line. For the quarter ended September 30th the Atchison system of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe company shows a surplus above fixed charges of $1,231,801 against $26,611 last year, and the St. Louis and San Francisco a surplus of $299,371 against $77 018. The Colorado Midland has a defi- cit of $86,375 against a deficit last year of $64,861. Gross earnings for October of all Atchison lines were $4,900,803, an increase of $192,010. . A train for fire extinguishing purposes on the Nicholas Railroad, in Russia,, is spoken of as one of the noteworthy exhibits at the recent International Railroad Congress at St. Petersburg. Two such trains are in use on' the road in question, and are always held ready for any emergency which would require their presence at any point along the road. Each train conriprises a passen- ger car for twenty firemen, one platform car carrying water reservoirs, and one platform car carrying pumps and barrels. — The Rail- road Gazette. EAILWAY GUIDE.
