 It is of great importance that you should realize that this POETICAL 
 ROMANCE is today one of the greatest and most thrilling compositions, if 
 i ct the only one of its kind in existance, and that if you are acquainted 
 with gestures useful in the performance and delivery of this composition, 
 I assure you that the same will hold an audience spellbound and breathless 
 i I'ora start to finish. 
 
 it is of consequence for me to say thus, it is possible that this book 
 will find itself in the hands of many students in the line of Elocution, and 
 Oritory to those so interested, they will find that this work will be of great ad- 
 vantage to them and especially for public recitals along this line, as the 
 same is very dramatic and thrilling, showing amorious friendship springing 
 into love, hidden jealousy, spurts of drunken madness, little passions, recon- 
 ciliations, moans, sighs and groans, ending up in a grand finale, too often 
 proving that love hangs on but one hair, and, which proves stronger than 
 a chain of iron. 
 
 It is also my honest duty to thank my Creator for giving me that power 
 and insight which, inspired me to accomplish my end in this production, 
 and, last but not least, I dare not forget my subject, in the person who so 
 faithfully performed her part in this wonderful romance. Yes, at the cost of 
 many a cry, pain, worry and deepest thought, which herewith gives light to 
 the world of seekers after knowledge, my own true friend, MARION

FRIENDLESS AND ALONE 
 
 Friendless and alone 1 live. 
 
 To prove my worth I tried; 
 Submitted and a curse was all, 
 
 Yes this to me applied: 
 Some day the gates ajar will stand, 
 
 A tag upon my breast, 
 Friendless and alone he died, 
 
 And thus alone I rest. 
 
 Friendless and alone my lot, 
 
 It seems 'tis cast for me, 
 When death puts in its' claim at last, 
 
 Then friends will claim to be — 
 Around my form on every side, 
 
 To sob, ah yes, and sigh; 
 "fis then they'll say I lost my friend, 
 
 To late! to late! good bye. 
 
 Friendless and alone I ask, 
 
 When you I'll leave behind; 
 To be consoled I am no more, 
 
 And cast me from your mind: 
 I know 'tis true in memory, 
 
 My name with you will dwell; 
 But I suppose that you will wish, 
 
 My soul is cast in Hell. 
 
 Friendless and alone, I am, 
 
 For me no one does care; 
 Devotion, ne'er was shown for me, 
 
 On earth! ah no! no where: 
 Yet punishment may come at last, 
 
 Ah yes from up on high, 
 And soon to you I'll say farewell,

 Friendless and alone I was, 
 
 While life was in its prime; 
 But all to me you have destroyed, 
 
 Me thought that you was mine; 
 Regrets is all that's left for you, 
 
 In memory of the past; 
 This romance must come to an end,

 To you, I did surrender, 
 All the love that I possessed, 
 
 More, I, no could not tender: 
 Two sides in love can ne'er exist, 
 
 Two hearts must beat as one; 
 In Edins garden this was proved, 
 
 Yes when the world begun. 
 
 You know that friendless and alone, 
 
 No gratitude to me you show; 
 Your threshold it is always bare, 
 
 And bid me cross and go: 
 You bid me thus, leave you alone, 
 
 Be gone, be on your way, 
 But sadness in your heart will dwell, 
 
 When my last, good bye, I'll say. 
 
 Friendless .and alone to late, 
 
 No! this I will not say, 
 A moment yet for you to think, 
 
 Before I go away: 
 Your answer yes, you know it well, 
 
 A secret as if bom, 
 You'll be alone ah yes some day, 
 
 O'er me you'll weep and mourn. 
 
 Friendless and alone a heart, 
 
 Consealed within your breast; 
 Pray tell me of what is it made, 
 
 Has it no tenderness 
 My declarations I have made, 
 
 To you I only cry, 
 Yet friendless and alone it seems, 
 
 That you prefer me die. 
 
 Yes friendless and alone your wish, 
 
 Some day will come to pass, 
 If from the dead I would return; 
 
 My eyes would turn to glass 
 Upon your brow I'd see a frown, 
 
 In mournful tones you'll cry.

 Do leave me day by day; 
 Exagerate, I do not, 
 
 When to you this I say: 
 Kindness I did show to you, 
 
 Appreciate it never;

 I live a Poet's life;

 My subject once a wife: 
 Immaginations on your mind, 
 
 I often said expell; 
 Repeatedly the answer come, 
 
 Ah yes, you go to hell. 
 
 Friendless and alone I know, 
 
 Untruths you told to me; 
 Forgiveness you will seek some day, 
 
 Ere happy you can be. 
 Silence now my motto is, 
 
 In anxiety you I'll keep; 
 Your questions I will answer yes, 
 
 When I am fast asleep. 
 
Friendless and alone at last, 
 
 No more we will declare, 
 Our hearts as one now beating, 
 
 Triumphant! everywhere- 
 The race is won for ever, 
 
 To beat me you did try, 
 Admitting you were conquored, 
 
 Now we'll never say good bye.

 United and as one, 
 We'll live a life of happiness, 
 
 Beneath a mid day sun; 
 Its beams will bid us prosper, 
 
 Misfortune we'll know none, 
 The world now recognizes

 Of love soon at an end, 
 From slavery bound to others, 
 
 Released by me your friend. 
 This life of torment turning, 
 
 From misery to joy, 
 May heaven help me thank my love

 A fool I am and great; 
 Egotistic your ideas don't think 
 
 No more, or you may think too late; 
 I have made friends, ah yes again,

 Seek meakness my advice, 
 Then after this, before you act, 
 
 As I do, just think twice;

 They'll prove to be your enemies

 At conclussions what was done, 
 Neither one of us forgetting, 
 
 One another's love we won. 
 Tell me what in me you see, 
 
 Hypnotic power too true, 
 Influenced loves relations, 
 
 Between both me and you.

 If we act in harmony

 In realms of happiness and joy,
