Lincoln Street -CHICAGO &^9 •^0 •%| • |UR exclusive line of manufacture, since we established our business in 1879, has been the ' production of materials for Wood Finishing. A svifficient evidence of the superiority of our goods is found in the fact that they are now and have been for years past in constant use by the largest and most progressive class of Manufacturers, Decorators and Painters throughout America. The experience we have had and our position in the trade en- able us to explain the methods and materials used to most economic- ally obtain the different finishes on all woods and we particularly request those desirous of obtaining this information to write us freely at all times. A catalogue of Brushes, which we have in preparation, will contain in addition to a very full general line, the most complete .assortment listed of Varnish and similar Brushes for Manufacturers of Furniture and kindred goods, Artists, Decorators and Painters. PRic:es suBj:ecT to change without notice. WOOD FILLER. In Paste Form. E use exclusivel}' the purest and best materials in making our Wood Filler and the finest selected Colors onh', in shading it. The advantages of a Wood Filler made as ours is, out of the hardest mineral ground in Pure Linseed Oil and Turpentine Japan are numerous and obvious to a practical Wood Finisher. Such a Filler produces a more even and lasting surface, holds up the Varnish better, goes farther and does not shrink in the pores of the wood. Colors are poor Fillers and therefore we use, in making our different shades, imported Colors only and select those of the greatest strength. Fillers made from soft pigments. Benzine Japan and Linseed Oil largely mixed with various mineral and other inferior Oils (some Fillers even containing no Linseed Oil at all) shaded with poor Colors are cheap to make but are positively most expensive to use. We have demonstrated many hundreds of times in competition with these cheap Fillers that ours not only does better work but does it at less cost. It must not be understood that ours is a high priced Filler however; it was the pioneer and we believe is still the only Filler made from the best procurable materials at a moderate price. We make our Filler in a heavier paste than most other manufacturers; this is an additional feature of economy to users as our Filler must be thinned down with Benzine or Turpentine more, in order that it will rub off easily. When properly thinned down it will always rub off easily and fill perfectly. Ours being a Turpentine Filler, Benzine (Naptha) will act sufficiently well for a thinner. Oak, Ash, Elm, Walnut, Rosewood and all other open-grained woods must first be filled with a Paste Wood Filler and the surplus Filler wiped off before being coated with Shellac or Varnish, if the best finish is desired. No Liquid Fillers, of our own or others' make, which do not re- quire rubbing off, will produce a perfect finish on woods of this class. A fair finish (often satisfac- tory for cheap and medium priced goods) is obtained on open-grained woods and a perfect one on close-grained ones by the use of our Liquid Wood Fii,i.er, Japanese Surfacing Lacquer, Dipping Wood FiivLER or Union Stain. Our Paste Wood Filler produces a smooth and impervious surface and therefore is valuable also for use on soft and porous woods as it insures the best obtainable finish and saves a large amount of Shellac or Varnish which otherwise would have sunk into the wood. Paste Wood Fii.i,er has always been our principal production. Furniture factories all over the Continent in which our Paste Wood Fii^ler is in daily use and numberless public and private buildings which have been filled with it, attest our success in this line of manufacture. SHADES. Our "Light" Wood FiIvLER is used for finishing Ash, Oak, Elm and other light-colored woods in their natural colors. "Light" may be shaded to match any color by the user himself, if he so desires. We make also an "Extra Light" Wood Filler. " Dark " finishes Walnut and Rosewood in their natural colors and makes a medium brown shade of Filler for antique work. "Medium," which is lighter, and "Extra Dajik," which is darker than our "Dark," are other shades used for Walnut, Rosewood and Antique. Our "Antique No. i" produces a dark, chocolate-brown color; "Antique No. 2," a greenish-black; "Antique No. 3," a little lighter shade of brown than "Antique No. i "; " Antique No. 4," a brown somewhat lighter than " Antique No. 3 "; "Antique No. 5 " is our Antique shade more largely used than any other and is of a medium brown, a little lighter than "Antique No. 4"; "Antique No. 6" is a popular brown shade of a somewhat less red tone than "Antique No. 5 "; "Antique No. 7 " is quite black and "Antique No. 8 " very black ; " Antique No. 9 " is a brown shade in much demand and is a little lighter than "Antique No. 5"; "An- tique No. 10" is our lightest brown shade of Antique Filler and is very much lighter than our " Antique No. 9." For Cherry Wood we manufacture our "Cherry," "Dark Cherry" and "Extra Mahog- " Extra Dark Cherry"; for Mahogan}- our any," "Dark Mahogany" and Dark Mahogany, ' ' the last named being most largely used. These shades of Cherry and Mahogany Filler impart a finish in the natural colors of those woods or in a color somewhat darker than natural. Our "Ebony" Filler is used on the wood of that name. We have other regular shades of Filler and make to order any special shade desired. , . PRICE LIST. Light " and all colored shades are the same in price. We now suppl}^ the trade in nearly all cities aud towns in America where Furniture is manufactured, many of our customers having continuously used our Polish since we commenced its manu- facture. WALNUT AND ANTIQUE OAK. These Paste Stains are made ready for use by being thinned down with Turpen- tine and Boiled Linseed Oil, using two-thirds Turpentine and one-third Oil ; about two pounds of Stain are used to one gallon of the liquids. There are two methods of treating the work. One is to let the Stain have twelve hours (or over night) to dry, when it may be sand-papered, using fine sand-paper or one of our Finishing Papers, after which it can be coated with Shellac or Varnish as desired. Another process is to let the work stand ten or fifteen minutes after being stained, so that the Stain will have time to penetrate the wood and then to wipe off the surplus Stain remaining on the surface of the wood with cotton waste or cloth. The work should then stand twelve hours to dry and thereafter may be finished as desired. If this latter method is used, the work will not require to be sand-papered when dry. This is an Oil Stain in Paste form. We manufacture it in two regular shades ; one is our ordinary (or No. 3) shade and is principally used, the other is our No. 4 shade, which is lighter and more red. Our XVI Century Coating is reduced with Turpentine to a very thin consis- tency before being applied — about one pound of Coating is used to a gallon of Turpentine. Full directions for producing the "XVI Century" Finish accompany packages of this Coating. ALL our COLORS are selected by us in the dry state with special reference to their PURITY, STRENGTH and RICHNESS OF TONE. We use ABSOLUTELY PURE COLORS only, of the best qualities. We grind all our Colors perfectly pure, without admixture of any kind, to a great degree of fineness — the Oil Colors in Pure Linseed Oil, the Coach Colors in Japan or Gold Size and the Distemper Colors in Distilled Water, neither solid nor liquid adulter- ants being used. We therefore guarantee all of our Colors to possess the highest possi- ble economy. We furnish any shade desired of the Colors listed also other Colors than those we list and make to order special shades from mixed Colors. In examining a new line of Colors it is well to test not only those which may be submitted bj- the manufacturer for inspection but all Colors which the one making' the test may sell or use. Nearly all manufacturers grind a few Colors pure but very few- manufacturers grind all Colors pure. It is well to remember also that a common practice is to tone up certain standard Colors by mixing them with other Colors or Lakes (as for instance Burnt Sienna or Tuscan Red with Rose Lake. ) We can furnish Colors mixed if ordered but all of our Colors unless specialh- ordered or unless so indi- cated by the laVjel are entirely unmixed. Some Colors, as for example most of the Greens and Vermilions are not desired chemically pure on account of their cost or shades and some Colors are mixed, as Wine Colors and Wine Lakes, where the peculiar shade can only be thus obtained. The label nevertheless should show this, as "Quaker Green,'' "American Vermilion," " Wine Color," each of which is no exact natural or manufactured Color and in putting up which the manufacturer can do no more than select the best dry materials and grind them in pure Linseed Oil, Japan or other liquid indicated ; or as on our " Vau- dyke-Umber, ' ' the label should give the formula. However, comparatively few Colors belong to this class and therefore most of those principally used cannot be mistaken by the labels, if the latter are plainly worded ; see facsimile of one of ours on next page. The LACQUER is allowed six to ten hours to dry and does not require to be sand-papered for ordinary work. When a very fine finish is desired the LACQUER may be sand- papered after becoming thoroughly dry. One or more coats of Varnish may be applied over the LACQUER, dependent upon the quality of finish desired. Open-grained woods, such as Oak, Ash, Elm and Walnut, should first be filled with Paste Wood Filler. The "Light" JAPANESE SURFACING LACQUER, when used as a first coat over close-grained woods, being transparent preserves the original color and beauty of the wood ; used over a Paste Wood Filler it forms a transparent under-coating for the Varnish. The "Cherry," "W.\lxut," "Mahogany," "Natural Cherry," "Ebony," "Rosewood," etc. shades of JAPANESE SURFACING LACQUER give the correct colors of the popular Stains known under these names. The "Light" forms a priming or filling coat, perfectly holding up the added coats of Varnish. The various colored shades in addition to this also stain the wood at the same time. JAPANESE SURFACING LACQUER is specially recommended for use on plaster, stone or brick, as it forms an absolutely impervious surface on which to calcimine or paint. It is also used over old Paint or Varnish ; the colored LACQUERS produce on old work the appearance of new, in any desired shade. One application of the LACQUER forms a smooth priming and surfacing coat for grained work. The LACQUER flows easily, perfectly smooth and free, showing no laps as does Shellac, unless very carefully applied ; covers more than double the surface that an equal amount of Shellac w;ll ; fills all pores, stopping suction and should be used on all woods, plaster, brick, stucco, stone, etc., where it is desired to have a hard, impenetrable surface upon which to work. We make an " Extra Heavy " quality, at same price for use in place of first two coats on three coat work or for doing two coat work in one application by following directions we furnish. This extra heavy bodied Lacquer is very useful for completely finishing, with one coat, a large number of low and medium priced goods, including toys, piano stools, wood puUej-s, etc., where it is desired to obtain a fairly heavy coating in one oper- ation, including the staining of the goods. We furnish this extra heavy grade in transparent shade for finishing "Natural" and in "Ebony." "Mahogany." "Natural Cheny , " " Cherrs-, " " Rosewood ' ' and ' ' Walnut ' ' shades. The remarks on JAPANESE SURFACING LACQUER are, as will te noticed from the following, applicable to our LIQUID WOOD FILLER as well, except that the latter dries nearly " flat " while the Lacquer dries with a gloss. LIQUID FILLER is intended as a first coating on close-grained woods only. Ash, Elm, Oak, Walnut and other similar open-grained woods must first be filled with a Paste Wood Filler, after which the LIQUID FILLER may be applied in place of a coat of Shellac or the first coat of Varnish. It will not be necessary to .sand-paper the LIQUID FILLER (unless a specially fine job is desired) as it dries smooth and nearly FLAT and thus there is liitle or no gloss to be first sand-papered off before the Varnish can be applied. The "Light" LIQUID FILLER is used where it is desired to retain the orig- inal color and grain of the wood, this FILLER being almost absolutely transparent. The colored shades — "Walnut," "Mahogany," "Cherry," "Rosewood," " Ebony," " Natural Cherry " — fill and stain at the same time. Flowing better from the brush and setting evenly, assures much smoother Avork with our LIQUID FILLER than is possible with Shellac. Our LIQUID FILLER covers more than twice as much surface as an equal quantit}- of .Shellac will and holds up the added Varnish perfecth', allowing it to adhere firmly without absorption. This LIQUID FILLER is used for a priming and surfacing coat under grained work ; as a first coat on stone, plaster, brick and stucco upon which to paint or calci- mine and the colored shades are used over old Paint or Varnish, imparting a new finish with one coat. It stops all suction and is specially valuable for use on plastered walls on account of its drj'ing almost flat. Ovu- "Light" LIQUID WOOD FILLER maybe shaded with Colors ground in Japan and when plenty of time is allowed for drydng. Oil Colors, Turpentine or Oil Stains ma}' be used. Our LIQUID WOOD FILLER is the result of almost numberless experiments with scores of Surfacing Materials and is a combination entirely new and totally different from any other article manufactured. It is scientifically prepared, special attention being taken of the varying specific gravities of the materials used with the result of having a finished product almost entirely free from the annoyances of set- tling and yet oiir LIQUID WOOD FILLER is not a "thinned down Varnish " as all other articles of this kind are, which do not settle. 6 or 12 gal. tegs, ■per gal. net. UNION STAIN, DIPPING WOOD FILLER AND FINISHING LACQUER. UNION STAIN Is applied with a brush and should stand over night to dry, when it may be finished with any Varnish desired or with our FINISHING LACQUER. Made in all shades of "Antique " as well as "Mahogany," "Natural Mahogany," "Rosewood," "Cherrv'," "Natural Cherry," "Ebony" and "Walnut." We also furnish the " Light " or transparent shade. " Light," " Antique " and all other shades are the same in price except " Mahog- any " and " Rosewood," w^hich are ten cents per gallon higher. This article is designed for cheap work, such as low priced chamber suits, chairs, etc. It does not give nearly as good a finish as is obtained by the iise of our paste WOOD FILLER but fills the grain to a certain extent and takes the place of the first coat of Varnish, while the " Antique " and other colored shades color the work at the same time. Our DIPPING WOOD FILLER Is designed for use from a tank by the dipping process. Sets very quickly, much more rapidly than our "Union Stain " but is otherwise the same in every particular. Made in "Light," all shades of "Antique," "Mahogany," "Cherry" and all other colors, same as our "Union Stain" and is intended for same class of work and is sold at the same price. Shades "No. 50" and "No. 60," which give medium colors of "Antique," are very popular in both our " Union Stain " and our Dipping Wood Filler. Our Dipping Wood Filler sets sufiiciently in four hours to receive a coat of Varnish or a coat of our " Finishing Lacquer." Suggestions as to tank and the method of employing the dipping process will be furnished by us upon application. Both our Union Stain and Dipping Wood Filler are put up in barrels and half-barrels at verj- low prices, which will be given upon request. Our FINISHING LACQUER Is applied with a brush or by the dipping process. Goods may be shipped the day after being coated with it. Our Finishing Lacquer is made from fine materials and is a superior article to use as a second coat on two coat work or for both second and finishing coats on three coat work. It is very elastic yet dries rapidly and is not affected b}- moisture. Price upon application. These goods we furnish to leading manufacturers in very large quantities. We manufacture a "Walnut" shade in Dipping Wood Fuller and also in Union Stain specially for chairs, kitchen safes, bedsteads and other low priced goods, which imparts a very rich Walnut color. We have made these goods for imi- tation Walnut a specialty and shall be pleased to submit samples, either on wood or of the goods themselves, as we will also of any of the other shades we make in these goods. The trade had, until the introduction of this line by us, a general prejudice against low priced finishes. In all cases where this class of finish is desired our goods will meet the requirement. We make special varieties, grades and colors of our Union Stain and Dipping Wood Filler for large users. We send a competent representative to any part of the country to ascertain ex- actly what grade of these goods is required for the particular class of work done and to show the most economical method of their use ; conditioning only that we receive reasonable assurance of the adoption of the goods upon the demonstration, by our representative, of their economy and desirability. ELSTON FLOOR FINISH AND ELSTON WAX FLOOR POLISH. Hardwood floors, if they are made from opeu-grained woods such as Oak, Wahiut, Mahogany, etc., should' first be filled with paste Wood Filler and the surplus Filler wiped off same as in all hardwood finishing. After the Filler is dry our ELSTON FLOOR FINISH should be applied with a brush evenly over the surface. Floors made from close-grained woods as Maple, Southern Pine and the like that do not require a paste Wood Filler may have the ELSTON FLOOR FINISH applied to the Dare wood, one or two coats, or may have a coat of our LIQUID WOOD FILLER and over that one of ELSTON FLOOR FINISH. The ELSTON FLOOR FINISH dries hard over night and should then be rubbed with curled hair, burlap or tow to remove the gloss and any dust or dirt which may have collected on the floor ; or the work may be lightly sand-papered with fine sand- paper if desired. Our ELSTON WAX FLOOR POLISH which, under slight pressure, easily dis- solves for spreading, is applied upon this surface with a brush or rag and allowed from fifteen to thirty minutes to set ; a polish is then developed by rubbing with a weighted floor brush. This will give a smooth and brightly finished floor which will retain its finish for a long time under the severe usage to which a floor is subjected. The polish may be retained indefinitely if the floor is occasionally wiped clean with a damp cloth and treated to a coat of the ELSTON WAX FLOOR POLISH and rubbed to a surface with the weighted floor brush same as when first finished. Many prefer to have only the Wax Polish used over the Filler ; this may be done and a fine finish obtained by omitting the ELSTON FLOOR FINISH. In this case more coats of the ELSTON WAX FLOOR PaLISH will necessarily have to be applied and the floor more often re-waxed. Our ELSTON FLOOR FINISH should be used in place of Shellac, which is so often employed on floors. ELSTON FLOOR FINISH although drying quickly is elastic ; it flows smoothly and covers much more surface than an equal quantity of Shellac will and does not show laps as Shellac does, if not most carefully applied and sand-papered. Our ELSTON FLOOR FINISH and ELSTON WAX FLOOR POLISH are very desirable lines to handle as they afford the dealer good profits and so generally ' ' . are floors now finished in this manner in resi- dences, ofiices and public buildings that the large demand assures ready sale. We manufacture the ELvSTON FLOOR FINISH in an "Extra Light" grade for Maple and other very light colored woods. Our ordinary or regular grade of the Finish is light and suitable for Oak and all woods darker. ELvSTON FLOOR FINISH is put up in Vermilion colored, square Varnish cans, handsomely lithographed and varnished, hav- ing brass capped nozzle and make a fine dis- play for shelf or window. Full directions for use appear on all cans of both ELSTON FLOOR FINISH and ELSTON WAX FLOOR POLISH. We ordinarily pack 5 one gallon, 6 half- gallon or 12 quart cans of the FLOOR FINISH in a case and the WAX POLISH in cases containing i, 3 or 6 dozen cans but make up any assortment of either one or both, desired. We furnish both in bulk at special prices. We wish specially to call the attention of the trade to our "P. O. L. O." (Pure Oxidized Linseed Oil) Elastic Japans and Drj'ers for exterior use. This brand should be employed for all exterior purposes such as house, car, bridge, railway and ship work ; for floor painting and similar interior work where great elasticity is required. We have in this Dr^^er one which dries Linseed Oil readily until it has become hard but ceases thereafter to oxidize the Oil further, so that there is no tendency to destroy the life of the Oil and cause the paint to rub o£E" or flake as is the case when most Japans or Dryers are used. This line will be found, on account of its great elasticity, to give extreme durability and a paint which has been dried by our "P. O. L. O." goods will withstand a great amount of rough usage. A piece of tin coated with our " P. O. L. O." goods, either alone, mixed with Linseed Oil only or mixed with Paint will show the elasticity well. The tin may be bent or pressed into almost any shape without the coating cracking. Our " P. O. L. O." Japans and Drj'evs will not curdle Linseed Oil and will mix readily in any proportion . The " Elston " Japans and Dryers are for maiiufactttrers' use or for the painter on ordinary interior work not requiring extreme elasticity. The "Elston" line dry Linseed Oil hard quickly and yet with much elasticity and are goods useful for nearly all classes of work. Our " Clybotiru " line are all strong and made to compete with the lower priced goods on the market. The Gold Size Japan is a reliable article at a moderate cost and the " Columbia Extra Light Japan " is intended for White Enamel Paint and other white work where a very pale article is desired. All tHe "'P. O. Iv. O." and "Elston " lines we furnish in " T. and B." (turpentine and benzine) or " B." (benzine) grades which we will quote upon request. These goods are most carefuUv prepared from the nnest qualities of Varnish and Japan into which are very finely ground the priming, filling and covering pigments and Colors used in shading the goods. We have so generally introduced our CoFixsr Prjmers that there are now few factories in which they are not used and as they are known almost universally to the trade it is not necessary to enter here, very faUy into their merits. We shall be glad to write anyone interested, relative to the Primers, to refer them to the largest fac- tories East, South and West in which they are used and to submit samples, if desired- They are pure turpentine goods, put up in a thin paste form and are reduced to the proper consistency for use by the addition of turpentine. They form a hard, smooth and impervious coat which consequently holds up the added Color and Varnish perfectly and will not crack or peel off. Our Coffix Printers dry hard quickly and yet are elastic and are readily sand-papered. Although originally intended for (foffin work exclusively, these Primers are eqrally useful for all work in which a smooth and impervious under-snrface for Color or Paint is desired and where it is not intended to show the color or grain of the wood. We make two shades for imitation Rosewood work: our ■• C " and ''Rosewood " the latter being lighter and less red in color. Our " Walnut," '" Oak " and "White " Primers are used for the work their names imply. Special shades ground to order at regular prices. In order that each lot used may contain the proper proportion of all the constitu- ent liquids and pigments we put up these goods exclusively in one gallon tin pails, having extra or " sHp " covers. Used ox Carriages, OitxrBcssES, Street Cars. Railroad Coaches. Etc. Our Rough Stuff is ground very finely thorough Water-cooled French Burr-stone Mills. It has stood the severest tests and will not crack, scale or peel off. A ground Rough Stuff has many advantages over that mixed by hand — it is much more uniform in consistency- and texture and a given amount does more -work. Fitmi three to five coats of our Rough Stuff, made very thin by the addition of turpentine, should be applied one coat a day or for the best work one coat every other dav is bet- ter. Years of practical experience has demonstrated the desirability of this method of finishing — ^\"ami5h will last longer and hold its lustre better than by anv other method of painting as nothing can penetrate through the surface thus produced. In order that each lot used may contain the proper proportion of all the solid and liquid ingredients we put our Rough Stuff up in no larger packages than one gallon. The line we carr}' embraces all the dififerent styles and thicknesses of the most useful Felts for rubbing down Varnish with Pumice-stone. We furnish samples by mail upon application. Felts var\'ing fifty per cent, in actual cost of materials used, can often not be distinguished from one another by the ordinar}- purchaser. ^\^len, however, the quality- of the wool is lowered there is a proportionate loss in the value of the Felt for rubbing purposes and therefore although we list one or two low and medium priced Felts, most of our Felts (and more than nine-tenths in amount of sales) are of fine wool and extra quality. They will give perfect satisfaction. The hard Felts are usually employed for Oil Rubbing and the medium and soft Felts for Water Rubbing, although the hard Felts are also much used for rubbing with Water. It is much superior to excelsior, burlaps, rags, etc. for this purpose, as it does cleaner work and can be handled better. This Tow is specially prepared in the open field and afterward in the breaking and cleaning processes at the mill to obtain exactly the article most suited for this work. We are particular to keep the quality uniform. We obtain our Tow throuo^h correspondents who know exactly the goods we require and as often as thev can collect one or more car-loads make shipments to us. Our Rubbing Tow is put up in bales neatly covered with burlap to prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt and to insure a low rate of freight. The burlap cover also prevents loss from breaking baling wire, rough freight handling with hooks, etc. Bales weigh from 200 to 250 lbs. Price 3 cts. net. per lb. No less than a bale sold. Free sample by mail, furnished. GEM GARNET FINISHING PAPER. GEM UARNKT - V Von <^ <^ J'l M.SJIJNC ^ '>//«. *"•"'"' -^^O . I'O _^f:i mi fiustin-ei-.v The advantage this Paper has over ordinary Gar- net Paper is that the former is made on thin though tough stock, and therefore does not require to be split in Wood Finishing work that requires the splitting of ordinary Sand-papers, in addition it is lower priced and as compared with Flint Paper will also do two or three times as much work as an equal amount of the latter will. It is made from the real Gem Garnet finely ground and carefulh* bolted ; thus being intensely hard and sharp it cuts easier and quicker than other Papers. It is used on all kinds of work requiring sand-papering where no coarser grade of ordinary Garnet Paper than " No. i " or than " No. ij^ " ordi- nary- Flint Paper is required. We have seven grades or numbers — "i", "2", "3", "4", "5", "6" and "7", the last named being the coarsest and of same grade as "No. i" ordinary Garnet Paper; "6" same as ordinary "No. %"; "5" as ordinary "o"; "4" as ordinary "00"; "3", "2" and "i" are each finer, grading evenly down, the last being exceedingly fine. Our Gem Garnet and our Flint Finishing Papers will both be found to have the further advantage of giving little trouble from "gumming up" when used to sand-paper Shellac, Varnish or Paint and are the only Papers to be relied upon to smooth down the grain of wood, after being stained with a Water Stain, without cutting through to the bare wood. We will mail upon application free samples of the different grades of these Finishing Papers of ours to users of Sand-Paper. Size of sheets is 9 by ii inches, same as ordinary Garnet and Flint Papers. We do not furnish our Finishing Papers in roll form. List Price, Gem Garnet Finishing Paper, all grades, is I5.50 per ream ; discount in lots of I to 4 reams inclusive, at one shipment 30 per cent.; in not less than 5 reams at one shipment 35 per cent. Special discounts on larger quantities. One or assorted numbers may be taken (and Flint Finishing Paper may also be added if desired) to make up quantity necessary to obtain the larger discounts. FLINT FINISHING PAPER. Made on thin stock, similar to our Gem Garnet Finishing Paper, in three numbers—"!," "2" and "3". No. 3, the coarsest grade, is between ordinary "o" and "00" Flint Paper in fineness ; "2" is very much finer and "i" is exceedingly fine. List Price, all numbers, is ^4. 50 per ream ; discounts same as on Gem Garnet Finishing Paper. H. H. BARTON'S BEST AMERICAN GARNET PAPER. PER REAM. .
