From "THOMPSON'S BANK NOTE REPORTER," May 11, 1871. Moody's Eureka Stamp, for the prevention of alteration in checks, drafts, &c.. is a new and ingenious invention for baffling the operation known as ''raising," wliich is now of daily occurrence, and by means of which bonds, bills of exchange, promissory notes, stock certificates and other securities are " raised " from the lower to the higher denom- inations in a manner that defies detection. To prevent all such tam- pering with monetary paper, the Eureka Stamp perforates the amount drawn ; and thus oflers an efl'ectual safeguard, while it does not mar the face of the instrument. The perforations cannot be obliterated nor filled up. fiTRANOER'e GtJIDE TO NEVT TORI CITY. 35 3.
