ARTICLE FIRST, The name of this organization shall be The Guadalupe Club. Organized and located in the City of Washington, D. C. ARTICLE SECOND. Section i. To associate congenial women whose eligibility entitles them to membership in this Club. Sec. 2. To discover and preserve family records, otherwise unwritten and unknown re- lating to the Mexican War, and to teach rev- erent regard for names, history, character, and deeds of the patriots of that war, and to com- memorate events in its history. Sec. 3. To meet together for historical, mem- orial, and social purposes. ARTICLE THIRD. Membership. Section i. Wives, widows, sisters and lineal descendants of officers, regular and volunteer, of the Army, the Navy, and the Marine Corps, who served during the Mexican War in 1846- 1848 prior to the ratification of the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo May 30, 1848. Sec. 2. Persons shall be admitted by invi- tation only and after investigation as to quali- fications for membership. Sec. 3. Election by ballot, three negative bal- lots shall reject applicants. ARTICLE FOURTH. Dues. Section i. Annual dues shall be one dollar, payable in advance to the Treasurer on or be- fore November fifteenth of each year. Sec. 2. Members in arrears for one year, after due notice from the Treasurer, shall be dropped. article fifth. OMcers. Section i. The officers shall be a President, three Vice-Presidents, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Registrar, Treasurer, and Historian, who shall all serve two years. Sec. 2. Vacancies occurring may be filled by the Executive Committe, which consists of the active officers of the Club, ARTICLE SIXTH. Amendments. Section i. No alterations or amendments to this Constitution can be made from the date of its adoption, November 15, 1906, for two years thereafter, and before further alterations and amendments can be made a period of two years shall intervene, and all action must be ratified by a two-thirds vote of members pres- ent at annual business meeting. Sec. 2. Six months notice of any alterations and amendments shall be given. article seventh. Meetings — Washington City. Section i. Annual meetings (on February second, anniversary of signing the Treaty of Peace at Guadalupe Hidalgo, February 2, 1848), for social purposes only. Sec. 2. Regular monthly meetings on third Monday of each month at 7.30 p. m., Novem- ber to May. Special rneetings at the call of the President, or at v,^ritten request signed by five members. Sec. 3. Annual business meeting in Novem- ber, anniversary of organization. article eighth. Order of Business. 1. Meeting called to order. 2. Minutes of previous meeting. 3. Reports of officers. 4.
