NEW YORK. HARPER & brothers, PUBLISHERS. 1864. Entered, according to the Act of Congress, in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty seven, by Albert Barnes, in the clerk's office of the District Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. PEEFACE, The following Questions are designed for sabbath-schools and Bible classes. Those which are printed in the larger type are de- rived directly from the text, and require only a knowledge of the text to answer them. Those in smaller type pertain to the meaning of the text, and are designed to bring out the sense of the words and phrases used by the apostle, and the design, connexion, and force of his argument. These questions, except the few at the close of each Lesson entitled ^General Questions on the Lesson,^ are based on my * Notes on the Epistle to the Hebrews,' and an answer to them can be found in that (3) IV PREFACE. volume. The questions added at the close of each Lesson are designed to excite enquiry on subjects connected with the subject of the Lesson, or to furnish hints to the teacher for practical suggestions. They are on topics of personal piety, or on points of theology on which a teacher might speak to his class with profit. ALBERT BARNES. PhiladeJjphia, May 6, 1847.
