Give me grace to love Thee more and more, till I come to Thine everlasting kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Almight}^ God, Who hast given Thine only Son to be unto us both a sacrifice for sin, and also an ensample of godly life; Give us grace that we may always most thankfully receive that His inestimable, benefit, and also daily endeavour ourselves to follow the blessed steps of His most holy life; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. ?0^'9f^^f />•/# We give Thee humble and hearty thanks, O most merciful Father, for all Thy goodness and loving-kind- ness to us and to all men, for the blessings of this life, and for the promise of everlasting happiness. Especially do we praise Thee for the mercies which we have our- selves received from Thee during the past day. We thank Thee for every blessing of soul and body; and do Thou add this, O Lord, to Thy other mercies, that we may praise Thee not with our lips only, but with our lives, always looking to Thee as the Author and Giver of all good things. We ask it for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen. Our Father, the day returns and brings us the petty round of irritating concerns and duties, Help us to play the man, help us to perform them with laughter and kind faces. Since it is of Thy mercy, O gracious Father, that an- other day is added to our lives ; We here dedicate both our souls and our bodies to Thee and Thy service, in a sober, righteous, and godly life : in which resolution, do thou, O merciful God, confirm and strengthen us ; that, as we grow in age, we may grow in grace, and in the Iniowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Amen. 8 O Almighty God and heavenly Father, Who by Thy Divine providence, hast appointed for each one of us our work in life, and hast commanded that we should not be slothful in business, but fervent in spirit, serving Thee ; help us always to remember that our work is Thy appointment, and to do it heartily as unto Thee. Amen. O God, the Protector of all that trust in Thee, with- out whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy ; Increase and multiply upon us Thy mercy ; that Thou being our ruler and guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we finally lose not the things eternal. Almighty God, that when our vision fails, and our understanding is darkened; when the ways of life seem hard, and the brightness of life is gone, the wisdom that deepens faith when the sight is dim, and enlarges trust when the understanding is is not clear. And whenever Thy ways in nature or in the soul are hard to be understood, then may our quiet confidence, our patient trust, our lovhig faith in Thee be great; and as children knowing that they are loved, cared for, guarded, kept, may we with a quiet mind at all times, put our trust in Thee. If he hath ever been hurt or maimed by any unhappy word or deed of mine, I pray Thee of Thy great pity to heal and restore him, that he may serve Thee without hindrance. Tell him, O gracious Lord, if it may be, how much I love him and miss him and long to see him again; and, if there be ways in which he may come, vouch- safe him to me as a guide and guard, and grant me a sense of his nearness, in such degree as thy laws per- mit. If in aught I can minister to his peace, be pleased of Thy love to let this be; and mercifully keep me from every act which may deprive me of the sight of him as 55 soon as our trial-time is over, or mar the fulness of our joy when the end of the days hath come. Pardon, O gracious Lord and Father, whatsoever is amiss in this my prayer, and let Thy will be done; for my will is blind and erring, but Thine is guided by in- finite wisdom and is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think; through Jesus Christ our Lord. BY BISHOP PAGE Manual for Confirmation and Holy Communion The Bishop of Spokane has, out of his long ex- perience as a Parish Priest, given us one of the best booklets on Confirmation and Holy Communion. His teaching as to the purpose and meaning of Con- firmation is clearly stated and practical. The Obli- gations of Church Membership are well stated. The treatment of the Communion Service is most help- ful, and the few prayers added at the close of the manual are brief and to the point, having the direct- ness of collects ; ajid they breathe the spirit of true devotion. 25th thousand; 71 pp. 10 Cents Lja\ilovd PAMPHLET BINoiR" ZI^ Syracuse, N.
