OF FRINGE aN es GENERAL CATALOGUE 1866-1925 | @ -__—_—e. Published Quarterly By PACIFIC SCHOOL OF RELIGION Berkeley, California GENERAL CATALOGUE : OF THE “PACIFIC SCHOOL OF RELIGION Undenominational Formerly Pacific Theological Seminary 1866-1925 Compiled by Professor George Tolover Tolson BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA 1925 BREPACE General catalogues of the students of Pacific Theological Seminary (the name of which was changed to Pacific School of Religion in 1916) were published in 1878, 1881, 1888, and 1898. The annual register of the year 1910-11 contained a “Directory of Graduates” compiled by the undersigned. No general catalogues, including the Trustees, Faculty members, Lecturers on the E. T. Earl Foundation, and recipients of honorary degrees have been published. In a very true sense, there- fore, this is the first general catalogue of the School. It has been extremely difficult to determine with accuracy much of the data presented in this catalogue. There seem to have been no Faculty minutes kept before 1884; and no Registrar’s books before 18938. The Alumni Association was organized in 1887. Further information, either additional or corrective, concerning Alumni and other names herein, is earnestly solicited. We regret the meagreness of the account given of many of the earlier students. For many years the compiler has been gathering materials for this catalogue, frequently gleaning data from most un- expected sources. Under pioneer conditions, with shifting popula- tions and short pastorates, it is not surprising that some students, and even graduates, have become lost to view. Not a few of the earnest men of the earlier years struck out on their own account, preaching, teaching, and doing pérsonal evangelistic work among the laborers of the mines, mills, and lumber camps of the great West. Doubtless there are many who have done significant service whose records are entirely unknown to us. The Alumni are listed under the year of their graduation. Other regular students are enrolled under the year in which they would have graduated had they continued their studies. Special students, grad- uate students who have taken no degree from the School, and those registered primarily in other schools are enrolled with the classes whose members were seniors when these students entered the School. It has been thought best to include the names not only of Alumni, graduate, and special students, but of all persons who have taken courses in the School.
