Conditions of Sale. I. The highest Bidder to be the Buyer, and if any dispute arise between two or more Bidders, the Lot so in dispute shall be immediately put up again and re-sold. / • /' *'■ i f *v < I II. No Person to advance less than Is.—Above Five Pounds, 2s. 6d. and so on in proportion. III. The Purchasers to give in their Names and Places of Abode, and to pay down 5s. in the Pound, in part of payment of the Purchase Money, if required t in default of which, the Lot or Lots so purchased, to be immediately put up again and re-sold. IV. The Lots to be taken away, with all Faults, at the Buyer’s Expense, within Four Days from the Sale. V. To prevent inaccuracy in delivery, and inconvenience in the settlement of the Pur¬ chases, no one lot can on any account be removed during the time of Sale; and he money must absolutely be paid on the delivery. They consist of three figures mounted, two huntsmen following, with the hawks and dogs, and a carriage with four horses behind, slowly ascending a hill, beyond which is seen the family chateau, shel¬ tered on the skirt of the downs, painted with clear and brilliant effect N. Wouvermans.r. 100 A mounted Sportsman, with his gun, conversing with a Land¬ lord at the door of an Inn, the angle of which only is seen, where a maid is drawing water from a well; on the road are beggars and females resting themselves, and a peasant with a loaded horse; a companion sportsman and his servant are dis¬ mounted, standing by their horses, on the hanks of a river, to which the hilly landscape is sloped; the distance is full of minute objects. It is painted in a sweet pearly tone, the sky brilliant, and the whole remarkably clear J. Both . 101 A lovely Landscape, warm Evening scene, with broken hilly scenery on the left, and two peasants by a road side, listening to another mounted on a donkey and playing on a guitar, two goats are browsing beneath a group of trees in the centre, from whidi there is a rapid descent to a river, cattle are seen beneath the further wooded bank of it. Ill A Landscape with a bridge of brick-work thrown over a rapid stream: a cottage and trees, in a rich mass, and other picturesque objects are coloured with great truth and clearness. A capi¬ tal chef d’ceuvre Rembrandt . 112 A Girl leaning over the wicket of a house door ; a genuine and lovely bit of nature, the countenance glowing with warm colour, and displaying all the magic of this painter’s pencil.— It is painted with admirably clear and rich effect P. YVouvermans .. 113 A View of arising ground on the shore of a harbour, with loaded horses and figures depositing cargoes to be embarked on board of vessels in the bay. A sea mark rises in the centre of the picture, and contributes to the effect of the perspective. It is painted in a sweet pearly tone, and of the best style and finishing of the master A. Vanucchi or del Sarto 114 Portrait of Benvenuto Cellini when young, holding a silver vase of flowers, upon the plinth of which the initials of the artist, A. V. are inscribed. Different small figures in bronze, upon a cabinet behind him, designate the artist represented. The al- feminine beauty of the countenance is treated with appropriate delicacy of finishing.
