A capital specimen of the splendid colouring, and delicate finishing of this master, (upright arched top). 21 by 15 inches Exterior of a Public House, at the door of which are a woman and child, and at the bottom of a flight of steps three boors drinking, another behind them, and further on, a white horse baiting. This inimitable bijou is from the Cabinet of the Comte de Vaudreuil, and may in every respect be termed the finest of the master, . . . ^ ^.^Jrifc^es ^^4 The very highly renowned Chef Tlfis^ Master, which he painted for his Patron, an Ancestor of Lady Holderness, in the Sale of whose Collection it was purchased. The subject is an Interior, in which an Itinerant Showman has opened his Raree Show, and is explaining the Histories represented ( 13 ) 7^7 in it to a Dutch rauiily, the hgurcs of which are verj iiatiually and pleasingly grouped round the Cabinet. The characters are admirably contrasted, and the utensils and still life display the ne plus ulira of finishing. Together with these are the stamped, leather covers lined with flannel, and two deal cases to contain them. * They were made by a celebrated artist at Florence for the late Empress Catharine of Russia, captured at sea and thus brought into this country.
