Pictures exceeding a total value of .^£'41,300 have been purchased at the Exhibitions held in the Atkinson Art Gallery. /V.B. — The receipt of this Circular must not be construed as a special invitation to contribute. It is issued simply for the purpose of furnishing infonnation to those Artists 'lidw desire to exhibit. HE EXHIBITION will consist of Original Works in Oil, Water-Colour and Pastel only. Every Work of Art intended for Exhibition, must be delivered unpacked at the .Atkinson Art Gallery, Southport, free from any charge, between Thursday, January lyth, and Tuesday, January 22nd, i 8 g^, and at the same time the note of advice herewith, — describing the Works as they are meant to be inserted in the Catalogue, — must be filled in by the Artist and forwarded to the Hon. Secretaries. Every Picture must have pasted on the back of the frame a label, with the title and name and address of the Artist written upon it. Artists are also requested to write the title, price, and their name and address on a label, and attach same to the back of the frame by a string, so as to allow it to hang over the front of Picture during hanging and cataloguing. The strict attention of Artists to these regulations is earnestly requested to insure accuracy in the Catalogue ; the absence oj price frequently interferes with the Sale of Pictures. For the convenience of Metropolitan Artists, Messrs. Bradley & Co., 81 Charlotte Street, Fitzroy Square, London, W., will receive Pictures from the 17th to the 22nd January, and forward them to Souihport, free of charge. The unsold Works sent through Messrs. Bradley & Co. W'ill be returned at the close of the Exhibition, to Messrs. Br.adley & Co., free of charge. All Pictures must be sent in suitable frames ; round, oval, or other unusually-shaped Pictures must have frames square or oblong in outside form, without projecting corners. Water-Colour Drawings and Pastels must be close framed, or framed with gold mounts, the width of which (including frame) must not exceed five inches. .All Works intended for sale must be bona fide the property of the Artist. A commission of 7J per cent, on the catalogue price will be charged upon all Works sold, cither directly by the Committee or whilst the Works of Art are in their possession. Sales by Artists ought at once to be reported to the Hon. Secretaries. If this be neglected, a sale made by the Committee will be held to take precedence of, and to supersede, a sale made by the Artist. While the Committee endeavour to provide that the greatest care shall be taken of all Works of Art sent for exhibition, they will not be responsible for injury thereto, or loss arising from any cause whatever, either while they are in the possession of the Committee or their .Agents, or in transit to or from the Artist. No exhibited Work can be removed before the close of the Exhibition ; the several Works will then be delivered to the order of the Artists, Purchasers, or persons from whom they were received.
