Under certain circumstances, particularly in making reproductions (copying) it is important to obtain the greatest possible angle of view, which has induced Voigl lander to modify the construction of the ordi- nary Euryscopes — whose chief aim is illuminating power — so as to secure a picture of good size and flatness of field, an advantage gained only at an expense of illumination. Nos. oo to No. 4 inclusive are, for reasons stated above, excellent for photographing interiors. In confined situations, where the ordinary Euryscope is not available, these Wide-angle Euryscopes are most excellent, as they embrace ob- jects not accessible with the aid of the former. The smaller sizes are better adapted to this purpose, while the larger sizes answer admirably for reproductions. Voigtlander’s Improved Euryscope, For Groups , Full-length Figures , and Large Heads. This Lens has lately been improved, so that it now works in consid- erably less time than formerly, still retaining its remarkable qualities, such as correct definition, uniform illumination and depth of focus. (The equivalent focus of each lens is given in German inches — as calculated by Voigtlander — a German inch being but a trifle longer lhan the English inch.) 6 RICHARD H. MORAN' S PRICE- LIST. Negative Washing Boxes. , Guaranteed not to Rust . It is necessary at a certain stage of development to remove from pho- tographic negatives all traces of hyposulphite of soda, and it is not gen- erally convenient to place them where water will flow over their surface a sufficient length of time to accomplish this effectually, without injury to the sensitive film. To watch the plate is to waste time. The flow over it should be with gentle force. This can best be regulated, and a thor- ough cleansing from hypjsulphite of soda of every portion of the nega- tive be assured, by the employment of one of the Negative Washing Boxes here described. Plates are simply slid into the grooves, a guar- antee that the film will not be disturbed or marred; a bit of hose is slipped over a tap, and then at the other end over the spout on the box. If need be, another section of rubber tubing is used to carry off the waste water to an outlet. After this simple preparation the washing box is in readiness for service. A tin pot, with a Filter and Funnel in top; rubber stopper in spout. The pot has been greatly improved ; the whole top is slightly sunk, which makes the funnel complete. The spout is now cut level allowing the whole (spout and top) to be covered with a single piece of glass in- stead of the rubber stopper. Put your varnish in clean, flow your plates, and drain surplus varnish back through the funnel in the top and you will never be troubled with specks of dirt in it. Pot holds 16 ounces ; price, each 50 cents. RICHARD H. MORAN'S PRICE-LIST. 55 Photo-Printing and Negative Retouching, For the 7 / tu;e. It is apparent that the finishing of larger quantities enables one to pro- duce not alone Cheaper, but also superior and more satisfactory results. A long and varied experience in this particular branch, in some of our largest establishments enables us to furnish work equal to the best pro” ductions, and in a much shorter time. APRIL 25, 1882. Cl Lantern arranged for making positives by "contact. The following are some of the advantages possessed by this Lantern : It saves your eyesight. It is simple and easy to manage, nothing com- Lantern arranged for developing, and after fixing, examining negatives by opal light. plicated, yet has three separate and distinct forms of light. It is adapt- 66 RICHARD H MORAH’S PR ICE-LIST. el for the use of either oil or gas ; is about nine inches square by four- teen high, with eight by ten deep ruby glas; in front. Etch lantern is provided with a coal-oil lamp, with improved patent burner, and silvered reflector, which may be revolved in any direction, and operated from the outside. By removing the revolving lamp bed, a hole will be found through which a gas burner can be introduced. It can be used for seven or m >re different operations in photography, several of which have never been co nbined in any one lantern. Amateur photographers and, indeed, professionals have frequently ex- pressed a desire for a compact, safe, and simply constructed lantern for dry plate work. Several have been placed in the market, but either their dimensions were too great, their cost too considerable, or their adaptability too inadequate for the purpose desired. It will be observed that in the Perfect Lantern all the parts are separable, and all are easily and quickly adjusted. It has no hinges nor armholes to break, and every part of it is instantly and always accessible. Therefore — It can be instantly extinguished ; it will never crack the chimney; it requires no (hardly any) care to keep it clean ; it is impossible to misun- derstand it; it will never get out of order; it never needs attention; it Anthony’s Perfect Dry Plate Lantern. RICHARD H MORAN'S PRICE-LIST. 67 requires but little oil ; it yields a matchless flame ; it never ceases to burn when ignited, if the oil cup is filled ; it is abundantly wicked ; it may bo constantly ignited; it is proof against breakage. Price, $1 50. Oil Lamp with Ruby Chimney. The accompanying illustration represents the new oil lamp for use in developing gelatino-bro- mide plates. It is expressly made for the pur- pose, and is intended for use with kerosene oil. The chimney is of ruby colored glass of the proper and most desirable tint, and surmounted with a movable top to intercept the upward radiation of the light of the lamp. Price, $1 50. SCOVILL’S EFFICIENT PLATE LIFTER. This Plate Lifter is very nearly like an ordinary open end thimble with a pointed piece of metal soldered securely to it, as shown in the illustration. Where a num- ber of plates are developed in one dish, this Plate Lifter is not only a convenience, but quite a necessity. Price, 10 cents each. 1 *JL_ °>\ -6 333X1 GETTY CENTER LIBRAS)
