She is dreffed in yellow fattin, with a cloak of green velvet, trimmed with ermine. Near her ftands a table, wh'ch is covered with a carpet, on which is placed a jug and a mufical inftrument; behind are two figures in converfation. The whole is painted with a firm touch, great richnefs of colour, and produces a pleafing effeCt. • 51 One—A MAN PLAYING ON A VIOLIN. He appears to be finging; a mufic-book, and a crimfon velvet cap and feather lying on the table. This picture is moft beautifully coloured, and finilhed with the utmoft tafte. Specimens of this quality and prefervation are very rare. ■ 53 One—A LANDSCAPE, EVENING. The figures in this fcene are more numerous than in the generality of his productions; the foliage is admirably penciled, the animals touched with great fpirit, and the diftances light and tender. Wyaantz, with figures by 7 A.V.D. Velde — j 54 One—A LANDSCAPE WITH FIGURES. An evening fcene, and exhibits broken ground as is ufual in this mafter. The figures, which are moft admirably painted and appropriately placed, are by A. V. D. Velde , which unite in this production the tranfeendent talents of thofe great artifts, and form a fpecimen of excellence rarely to be met with. Honflius — — 55 One— Hunting the wild boar. A cabinet picture. The landfcape difplays one of the grandeft feenes ; and in point of colouring and touch rivals Cuyp : the animals are moft fpiritedly painted, and the whole forms a fubjeCt more agreeable than the general productions of this mafter. In this picture the figures are well grouped, the greateft attention has been paid in contrafting the colouring of the boy and girl; the mod trifling objects throughout are minutely penciled : and the whole produces a moft agreeable effect. — 57 One — A landscape. A fun-fet, cattle and figures paflxng through a brook, with ruins in the diftance. In this fcene, the breadth and juft diftributionof the lights are admirably depicted, and produce an inexprellible variety and beauty in the aerial effect, fo peculiar in this mafter. — 58 One—A LANDSCAPE. In this picture are three animals, in various pofitions. The correctnefs which pervades throughout fufficiently evinces the fuperiority which is decidedly given to him over every other painter in this line of the Art. THE END.
