LEAVITT & CO., AUCTIONERRs. eee yy tT FP MORTON. AND Moe. tO toe. ELLOS Collection of Paintings. SAMUEL P. Avery respectfully informs the public that he has been entrusted with the sale of the entire collection of Paintings made by the Hon. Levi P. Morton. Sold on account of the disposal of his houses in New York and Washington, and his protracted residence in Paris. Mr. Morton’s pictures were mainly purchased during his various visits to Europe, and includes the very re- markable work (129 x 124 inches), ‘‘ Automédon with the Horses of Achilles,” by the celebrated Hénri Régnault. Also an important part of the well-known collection of Mr. Rosert Hor, mostly by American artists, nearly all painted to his order, and some of which are considered the best efforts of their authors. Among the most valu- able are the companion pictures by Mr. Mrederic E. Church, and the late M/r. Fohn Ff. Kensett, ‘‘ Tropical Scenery,” and “‘/taly—A Reminiscence,” size 60 x 40 inches. In the catalogue Mr. Hoe’s pictures are marked with a star *. It is scarcely necessary to refer to the well-known good taste and liberality of these gentlemen, or to the fact that the pictures will be unreservedly sold. Many of these pro- ductions are familiar to the lovers of art, having been ex- hibited at the ‘‘ Metropolitan Museum of Art,” and in other loan collections, at various times and places. Reference to the names of the 128 artists represented, will show how varied and interesting is this combination of the different schools of art. *,* Catalogues forwarded, and orders to purchase will be attended to free of charge, by Samuel P.
